There's a great documentary on Netflix titled "Flip a Coin." It's about how their online concert in 2020 came to be, their preparation, and a brief look into their personal lives and band history. This band just exudes positive vibes on and off stage. You'll love them more the more you know them. These four were put on Earth to make music together; they're more like family than just bandmates.

To me, how the band delivery is so reasonable. It create scenario.
You start with a sad feeling, try to accept that it's gone. You want to cry alone,
put yourself into the corner as if you can hide from everyone.
That's why the silence part is important cuz during that time , many things
come to your mind and you start questioning and questions accumulate
So after a while you burst out , don't wanna be rational and just accept it.
So you moaning ... which afterward, it make you become furious.
It's so human. I'm sure we saw these scenes many times in our life.

You are part of the very few people I've seen reacting and actually respecting the silence. Most people talk about how silent it is, maybe trying to fill in so the video won't get quiet, but I appreciate people who actually feel it along with Taka.

Tokyo Dome holds about 55 thousand people
I've been to several concerts there, and it's always a special experience. But, at the same time I'm very jealous of fans abroad who can see OOR in small venues from up close, instead of seeing them tiny down there on the stage 😅

The one minute silence was to honor Chester Bennington. One ok Rock and Linkin Park were supposed tour together on 2017 on this tour but Chester passed away 4 month the tour. that silence was to pay tribute to Chester Bennington

Glad you guys found this band. They have so many positive messages in their songs especially for young people. They really do appreciate their fans. So much so that their fans almost seem like fellow band members during their live performances and not just random people who just happen to be watching them perform.

These are some of my recommendations of OOR LIVE performances:
    - Stand Out Fit In (orchestra 2018)

    Acoustic
    - Wherever You Are (ambitions tour 2017)
Heavy stuff with crazy explosive energy🔥
    - Deeper Deeper (Yokohama stadium 2014)
    - Mighty Long Fall (Yokohama stadium 2014)
    - One by One (Saitama Super Arena 2015)

Thank you for reacting to their songs! Welcome to the OOR rabbit hole! If you can, please react to "We Are", but the 18Fes version. This version was filmed by NHK and was performed with 1000 kids (18 year old) during the time when Japan changed the voting age from 20 to 18, which caused some anxiety with the youth. Adulthood is scary and exciting at the same time.

They did the moment of silence as a tribute for chester bennington. Taka and chester were planning to have a concert tour together but couldn't do it following a month after Chester passed away that's y it was silent for a couple seconds/minutes R.I.P chester bennington you will be missed but not forgotten ❤️

Full english lyrics of the song in case:
The calm after the storm has passed,
and you are no longer next to me.
I don't want anything in our broken home
Not the memories or the things we own
Not the picture of us on the wall
    So take what you want
Can you hear me? I'm trying to hear you
    Silence strikes like a hurricane
Now I'm singing for you, you're screaming at me
It's hard to see your tears in the pouring rain
    Whoa
    Whoa
    Whoa
    Whoa
Take what you want, take what you want and go
Take what you want, take what you want and go
Take what you want, take what you want and go
Just go now, just go, go, go
Still remember a time when you felt like home
You and me up against the great unknown
You were my life, now you're out of my life
    Yeah, I guess that's life
Can you hear me? I'm trying to hear you
    Silence strikes like a hurricane
I'm singing for you, you're screaming at me
It's hard to see your tears in the pouring rain
    Whoa
    Whoa
    Whoa
Take what you want, take what you want and go
Take it, no reason for me to hold on
Look in my eyes, I'm letting go
Keep it, don't need it, don't need it, don't need it
Take what you want, take what you want and go
Can you hear me? I'm trying to hear you
    Silence strikes like a hurricane
I'm singing for you, you're screaming at me
It's hard to see your tears in the pouring rain (in the pouring rain)
(I don't want anything in our broken home)
(Not the memories or the things we own)
    (All the memories)
Take what you want, take what you want and go
    Can you hear me?

OOR is an epic experience. I was honored to attend one of those small venue concerts in the US. It's been a year, and I'm still suffering from separation anxiety. 😂 they are phenomenal. Not only Taka (lead singer) but all of them as a band. They are so humble and greatfull towards their fans. You would think it not a big deal but you see these MV and see that they sing to 50,000 plus people and to 4000 with the same love and passion. I love this band. If you ever get the chance to see them live, do so. It is a bucket list experience. I recommend live performances but all of their music video are a work of art.
Please react to both MV and live
    Waisted nights
    Mighty long fall
    Last dance
    And
    Be the light.
    ❤❤❤❤❤

I'm italian, so I'm sorry if my english is not perfect 😅
First of all: in the first part of the song he is saiyng something like "Come and gone, the perfect storm, on and on, never ending. Open doors, empty arms, don’t look back, no pretending."
Second thing: the silence after "So take what you want" at the beginning was for Chester Bennington, becouse if I'm not wrong this tour had to be a collaboration with Linkin Park. Also Taka was really close with Chester, and the emotion in his voice is due to Chester's passing.
And I think that when Taka holds the mic up to the sky, is to say "Chester, this is for you".

the silence wasn't for chester bennington stop mispreading rumors, he did that multiple times to build up tension. also, the first part of the song you put are lyrics from the english version, the japanese version says something different.

Thank you for the wonderful response. In the words of an American, "Rock was born in America, grew up in England, and was perfected in Japan!" Currently, in addition to One-O-OK Rock, there are many other famous groups such as ``Baby Metal'', ``Band Maid'', ``Love Bites'', and many others. In particular, ``Band Maid'' completed a tour across the United States this year, and it seems that all the venues were sold out. Please enjoy it.

You people have to understand these concerts are in Japan so of course he’s singing in Japanese.
My Japanese friends always laugh when Westerners always want English subs - they never want Japanese subs in English lyrics. 😂
If you want to hear the mellow sound of Taka, watch “Taking Off” the acoustic version - it’s beautiful.
A lot of their songs have a message, they’re not just prancing around trying to be cute, their concerts are high energy, too.

    • @RNTV
      @RNTV  ปีที่แล้ว +4

@kuroneko7022 We do understand that. We are not vocal coaches or musicians ourselves. Our reaction style is to talk about how the lyrics speak to us personally. We have a hard time finding a reason to pause and talk about anything if the song is in another language with no subtitles is all. We try our best to respect the artists and their work and abide by fair use law. We don't want to reupload their work with no commentary added.

The original version of this song was written by OOR and 5 seconds of summer. The recording version is definitely more upbeat. Taka's parents did go through a divorce. They are very public people in the music industry in Japan. This concert was in 2018 shortly after the untimely death of Chester Bennington, who was good friends with taka and OOR. They were planning on touring together. Its been said that the long silence was in honor of Chester. At the end, he thanks the audience for the given respect allowed. They have been together since 2005 so like 18 years. The two members that were friends before the creation of the band were Toru guitar and Ryota base. They were originally a 5 member band but they quickly realized realized who will stay.
They were supposed to tour with Linkin Park, but Chester's sudden death prevented that from happening. I heard that this concert is a memorial concert for Chester and the long silence in the song is a prayer for Chester.
The rasp in Taka's voice that's not usually there was due to him not feeling well that day, yet it made the song so much more emotional. Frankly, kudos to him for performing the full 2h+ show while feeling unwell, without making it feel like it was in any way inferior to their other live performances when everyone was in tiptop condition.

  • @InfinityKrompt
    @InfinityKrompt 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

I dont see it mentioned anywhere in the comments from a quick glance, but the super long pause was because of the death of Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) a few months prior. Taka (the lead singer) sang at Chester's memorial concert, and the two bands were supposed to tour Japan in 2018/2019 together. Linkin Park was such a massive source of inspiration for One Ok Rock, and he was devastated about Chester's suicide. But as others have also said, the song itself is about Taka's anguish over his parent's divorce so this is him singing out so much grief.
