You are by far the most patient and just chilled out person I've ever seen explain bending EMT.Wish I would have had you as an instructor years ago starting out.All my teachers didn't have the patience and yelled alot.I enjoyed your video.
Jake Zeringue Thanks bud that means a lot. The video was just a trial to see if people could benefit from something like this and it has turned out to be quite a success.
J Z - Yea , that's because most Older Electricians are miserable drunks. Plus they don't want to show you anything because they are afraid of their Job security.
Nicely presented video. I haven't needed to do anything complex in a while while bending, so it was great to get a refresher on the shrinkage for saddles.
for an offset, I've always done 30degree bend and double the length of the distance of the offset. i.e.: 5 inch offset would require 10 inches between the bends. it's much easier than all the math. I do appreciate your video. I'm going up for testing in to the IBEW. 10 years non-union commercial electrician.
I was taught on field and this is a great step by step tutorial. you should make videos on the easiest way to make up boxes or heads for wire pull. I am an apprentice and I get too many different journeyman who tell me their way is the best.
Thanks a lot for this video! It really helped me out. I need to learn how to bend conduit for my journeyman's test and this video was very well done and you made sure you explained everything thoroughly. Thank you!
thank you well prepared n knowledgeable i been in the business ten years n u r the best i seen at pipe bending very patient i subscribed n hope to get more we still learn everyday in this field
kyle very informative n very knowledgeable wish i was working with u on pipe bending very patient n thorough been in the biz ten years love it n thanks
Good video. Just a correction from the first time you mentioned it; for every inch of rise in an offset, the shrinkage is 3/16". You said this correctly the second time, but said 3/8" the first time. To the other commenter, the notch is the center of a bend, the star is the back of a 90, and the arrow is used for a 90 stub after subtracting your take-off.
I have to say this really helped me out a lot am not not bending conduit to put wires in but but that first bend you showed us how to do will be good enough am using the pipe for a small chicken structure and useing metal studs to keep them rigid the pipe will be my frame. Then am just going to over it with metal thanks for the pointers they really helped out sir
Here’s a little trick I came up with. I use O-rings that are internally sized for which size pipe I’m bending, I slide them onto the conduit at my marks, make my bends and slide them off to be re-used. I haven’t used a pencil in over 20 years. Leaves no marks on your pipe, no clean up afterwards. An assortment box can be bought at harbor freight.
You presented this very well and clearly. Would have been nice to have someone follow you with the camera and maybe do some closeups on the tool head. Thanks for the video.
I was looking for a way to flatten the conduit for dome struts without using a press. I am a girl and it would be much easier for me not to have to deal with such a big thing. I am good with cutting them once they are flat and filing the edges and doing some drilling and final sledgehammering. This video has shown me many bends that I could make very good use of when making the frame for my papercrete dome. The whole thing is going to have to be portable. Thank you for your help. I bet You could flatten 2 inches of conduit before you cut it...
Really Nice Video can you please also do video which explanations or teach that how to Fish the wire through conduit which have bend at different angle more than two or three places . Thanks
looking for you to go ahead and do the 4 bend saddle!...looks like just bend at end of crossing with star mark and last bend with hook.....thanks bro...sparky
I'm an apprentice and my dad is a master electrician I would ask him about bending pipe but he don't use measurements he eyeballs it and it's perfect every time everyone on the job site is shocked when he bends pipe.
Your Dad is old School, I am too, I have tried to teach younger guys how to bend pipe but most of them already know more about the subject than I do (in their minds) so I gave up on them. Practice practice practice, I tell people to get a bunch of scrap pipe and practice, this works best.
you are a PROFESSIONAL!! and very smart....I envy , your whole persona..god blessed you. Thank you so much for the informational video. I am a local 3 Electrician, and I know Profesionals.
in the beginning of the video he says there is a subtraction factor for the stub. i just want to say that what you are subtracting is actually the radius of the bend aka the "takeup". also different types of benders have different takeups so be sure to check the bender you will be using
+Kyle J. Schuler, SET @7:12 the crate moved ...are you sure that back-to-back is 50"? You didn't measure it :-) Are you sure the floor is level?...I mean if it's not, then those bends aren't what you think they are :-)) Just kidding with you...great video. We don't have those 'hickey' pipebenders in Europe, though I brought one back from NY in '89 and find it great...beats lugging a big old tripod bender about. I usually 'guesstimate' for offsets and saddles..but you taught me something new here, thanks. I usually scribe a straight line with my pencil, the full length of the pipe, when doing multiple bends. I have another line drawn in the centre of the bender's former, and when both are aligned, it prevents twisting. Thanks again, I've subscribed.
this guy is explains this nicely...the only thing id like to add is the dog factor...for people who are beginners at this just know that a dog is normal....dont be discouraged...you can simply lay the conduit on the ground and stand on it with your weight...the offsets can be fudged a bit...its a starter video, but a good one...using up pipe is not the best, but a patient mechanic will help you underhand this...the math works.
Very great video with good explaination! Just one curious question. How come the center of the 3 point saddle didnt ride against the bottom of the 3" obstruction you were going around? Do the calculations automatically add for space between the two??
This would be a real great video, if you had someone filming you, so they could zoom in on shots, and zoom out, because yo were not seen in a lot of key moments. Would really love to see Part 2.
20:10 Kyle, when your doing your 45 degree bend( on the 3 bend saddle), doesn't the hook have to be pointing towards the start of your measurement? because your pointing it towards bend C, Not bend B? Can you tell me if this is correct?
Good information and very helpful for those who need it, however, although it looks as though you might have been using your garage as your "studio", it would have been much better and way more helpful if you could have set up a wider shot. The parts where the "work" is out of frame is difficult for someone to try to picture in their head if they have never done this, especially how to prevent a "dog leg". Did you even mention that and how to avoid one? (couldn't remember). Anyway, just a suggestion, maybe either have someone to zoom in and out for you, or have a camera with a remote so that you can do that yourself. Good effort though.
im getting the basic concept of these bends, my only concern is the fact that I'm terrible at memorizing math and what not, what's an easy way to remember all of these calculations?
Great video, but the only things are that you need close ups to point at certain details like the bender star and the notch line up; also , at times you are bending out of frame of the camera. But great video>
hi sir how are you ? i am so worry for bending pipe i wanna aske you i have a box 1100 , nd its fixed on celing but i want to 90 degree bend from electrical panel through in to that box but already i knock out box so tells me plse how i can make bend nd go throw box nd via 90 degree in to electrical panel ,,thx
hiya i used one of these benders years ago here in the uk ,it must have been good as some lowlife half inched it and i was not able to get a replacement. who makes them and do they come in 20 and 25mm sizes. cheer,s. oh as we say any idiot can be a critic
Best video I ever watched, he explained it in the simplest manner and covered a lot on bends❤

Might not be the best quality video out there but this is Definitely the most helpful video I’ve watched Thank you for sharing !
Best conduit bending video I have ever seen. Very simple, clear and informative. Great job
This video changed my life …IBEW LOCAL 11
Very good explanation Kyle; better than most of the bending videos on youtube; I cant wait to get my hands on a bender and conduit to practice.
This is by far the best video I've seen on Conduit bending, thank you!!!!
Dude thank you do much. I got my union test friday on how to bend conduit and I have learned and studied so much from this video. Thank you
I needed a refresher course, good video.
Nicely presented video. I haven't needed to do anything complex in a while while bending, so it was great to get a refresher on the shrinkage for saddles.
Great way of explaining and the way u performe the bend gives a great understanding
You are truly a good human-being!
Thanks for saving the apprentices!
been a long time since I have bent conduit..i appreciate the crash course..you did great..Thank you
Best conduit bending video on youtube

In was struggling with the math part of bending and how it all works. This video has helped me a put it all together. Great video man!
Nice tutorial on the 3pt saddle. Probably the only bend I struggle with, but I rarely need to do them.
Excellent video man,. Very well explained for the apprentice.

I do residential, i never bend pipe. I dont do it all day so i am not familiar with it.
Kevin Leppink your a scrub. good luck
An electrician that puts other electricians down your a scrub bud IDE bury you in pipe or lumex pick your fate
Ill break you down and build you back up to be an awesome electrician you little suckling boy..lol
excellent teaching style, this clicks with me, keep em coming
Thanks for the video Kyle, I needed to do some basic bends today and having never bent conduit before this saved me!
thank you well prepared n knowledgeable i been in the business ten years n u r the best i seen at pipe bending very patient i subscribed n hope to get more we still learn everyday in this field

Wow thanks a ton. That video couldn't of been any better. Now I'm like the matter!!
Pretty good vid. Nicely explained. You should do ur vids with examples of 30 degree bends using the push thru method
Here’s a little trick I came up with. Wonderful explanation and great practice at the same time. I like it
looking for you to go ahead and do the 4 bend saddle!...looks like just bend at end of crossing with star mark and last bend with hook.....thanks bro...sparky
Excellent Kyle! Is your "notch" the same as the star pointer?
thanks bro.. thanks to your video i actually got a job
***** lol
you're right star in the middle and beside there is the notch thanks
Great video/tutorial.Could you do a box offset video?
So that's how you do it! It's easy if you know how. Thanks for the info.
goooood video kyle! !!!! you're the best in teaching,
Thanks for the video! Appreciate it so much! Learned how to do all these already.. Thanks again!
I'm an apprentice and my dad is a master electrician I would ask him about bending pipe but he don't use measurements he eyeballs it and it's perfect every time everyone on the job site is shocked when he bends pipe.

My dad the same... and now me...
He doesn't know how to bend pipe the right way. Its real easy math. and USE CENTER BENDING METHOD!
you are a PROFESSIONAL!! and very smart....I envy , your whole persona..god blessed you. Thank you so much for the informational video.
I am a local 3 Electrician, and I know Profesionals.
You are correct with the 1". It would be pretty hard to straighten it out. Good call!
in the beginning of the video he says there is a subtraction factor for the stub. i just want to say that what you are subtracting is actually the radius of the bend aka the "takeup". also different types of benders have different takeups so be sure to check the bender you will be using
Understanding paralax error is important when laying out bends or cut lines
kyle for the 3 bend the first bend is with the middle star or middle arrow because my bender has an arrow in the middle not a star
I love this video. I' ve learned so much. Thank you for posting it.

Thanx 4 such an educational video man!! Great job! ☺
This is a really good informative video.
Good job man! very helpful to me
Great Video! I've learned a lot, thank you.
Thanks a lot for this explanation, brother. It really helped.
Very great video with good explaination! Just one curious question. How come the center of the 3 point saddle didnt ride against the bottom of the 3" obstruction you were going around? Do the calculations automatically add for space between the two??
Good video .Easy to understand thanks..
Good video , good explained . Thank you for sharing .
This would be a real great video, if you had someone filming you, so they could zoom in on shots, and zoom out, because yo were not seen in a lot of key moments. Would really love to see Part 2.
Great video ,good examples ,to the point , A+
great intuitive video
20:10 Kyle, when your doing your 45 degree bend( on the 3 bend saddle), doesn't the hook have to be pointing towards the start of your measurement? because your pointing it towards bend C, Not bend B? Can you tell me if this is correct?
Do you use .375 for all degree bends?
Hi great video!!! are all of these measurements the same for 3/4 and 1" other than the stub ups?
Did you mark a reference end? I usually don't think I need to, as I mark the reference end in my mind (or with a dot
Can you do a video on how to cencentric bending ? that's if you know how to do it.
Other than the different off-set for a stub 90, do the shrinkage factors change for different sizes of conduit?
eazzzye2003 YES
Amazing! A true master. thank you
Where do you get the level from? :)
Wait how does 4.3 equals 4 1/2" for the shrinkage of the offset?
Very helpful... thanks for sharing.
Ben Llech, Klein Tools makes benders. Not sure about the sizes.
judging by the color of the handle and sticker i would say its a klein bender, no idea if they make them in mm sizes though
Good information and very helpful for those who need it, however, although it looks as though you might have been using your garage as your "studio", it would have been much better and way more helpful if you could have set up a wider shot. Hey were can you get a chart from my book only goes up to 10 inches for offsets
fIyingpeacock this guy is right, ugly book has everything u need to know for any type of bends, every Electrician should have an ugly book....
great video. very informative
What type of boots ste those?? By any chance red wings
Jose Lopez www.redwingshoes.com/red-wing-shoe/405-red-wing-shoes/405-red-wing-mens-6-inch-boot-brown
im getting the basic concept of these bends, my only concern is the fact that I'm terrible at memorizing math and what not, what's an easy way to remember all of these calculations?
+Samuel Fogle Write the multipliers inside your hard hat.
Very helpful. Thank you
thank you, for your guides.
great video love and respect
What about an offset 90?
Excellent video. It's almost impossible to get trained by good professionals these days. They are scared to death you will take their Job.
Great video, but the only things are that you need close ups to point at certain details like the bender star and the notch line up; also , at times you are bending out of frame of the camera. But great video>
Thank You, your video was helpful, keep up the good work!!!!!! just a little suggestion better camera direction.... Thanks Again
and the constant hiss on the left channel is pretty annoying.
hi sir how are you ? i am so worry for bending pipe i wanna aske you i have a box 1100 , nd its fixed on celing but i want to 90 degree bend from electrical panel through in to that box but already i knock out box so tells me plse how i can make bend nd go throw box nd via 90 degree in to electrical panel ,,thx
dear sir..its pipe is 3/4',,plse give me details information about that
Good video.
a device to mark the conduit.... a sharpie? lol good video
How about a 4 point saddle?
go to Polly Friendshus, from Dunwoody college, part 4 of 5 or 5/5
Thanks
hiya i used one of these benders years ago here in the uk ,it must have been good as some lowlife half inched it and i was not able to get a replacement. who makes them and do they come in 20 and 25mm sizes.
cheer,s. oh as we say any idiot can be a critic
Nice video just need to zoom your camera back little the top was cut off some.
Good Job...
thx excellent video
no the notch is a different mark. the hand bender has an arrow, notch and star.
your bender should have a notch, arrow and star. double check and let me know.
Well played
perfect buddy
Please redo this video with the work in frame!!!
Just great
