Having started in the early 90s with all balsa and light ply, it amazes me how quickly these foamies can be put back in the air. And they are surprisingly tough at that. Bravo!!
FANTASTIC re-build and GREAT re-MAIDEN!! Auh....how many re-maidens are allowed?!? Am SOOO glad you got THAT jig-saw puzzle of pieces put back together!! Thanks Saylors for an inspiring RE-MAIDEN!! 💟👍😘
Apart from the planes and other rc vehicles, what I like most about your channel is that the 2 of you seem to truly like each other. I can’t understand why the haters go out of their way to find something to hate here. Thanks for the entertainment. I mean, isn’t that what TH-cam is, entertainment?
Great job Nate & Abby. I was most upset when you had your mishap, so glad you glued it back to life. I have this model & it certainly is an absolute joy. That elliptical wing certainly gives it presence in the air. Not unlike a certain iconic BofB warbird ! Keep up the good work - much appreciated. 👍
That's amazing most people would have wrote that plane off. So inspiring and happy to see it fly again. Great job. It's amazing how rewarding it is when you repair it and it flys. 😁👍
Wow, I cannot believe it's back up and flying already and how well it did fly! It looked amazing, great job filming, Abby! It would have been cool to see the repair process just so we have an idea for how much glue etc. people use and what may be too little or too much, but I get your reasoning for not doing a video on it too. Again, the plane looked amazing and your flying made it look very graceful up there, a real joy to watch!. Glad you were able to repair it and she lives on!
Super repair Nate ! A few still pix of the process would have been nice too. Just some matching blue paint and all will be 'spot-on'. Love the prolific output of content. You guys are really are my first 'go to' r/c channel. Thank you.
Hey Nate! Look at 10:11 when Abby zooms in on your prop. You can see that it's slightly bent. The gap is bigger in one side than the other. Should be even all the way around. Hope that helps! Love the channel. I just steered flying because of you guys! Keep up the great content and congrats on the baby!
I don’t think the prop is bent as much as it is an issue with motor alignment. The motor isn’t supposed to be perfectly straight down the centerline of the plane, but it may be off a bit more after the repair work. It is usually supposed to be a few degrees down and a few degrees to the right. (Google motor thrust angle for a smarter persons explanation;) ) It seems to fly pretty good however. I’m not sure I would personally change it , as long as it flies well.
Hey. guys Scott here Wow Nate you did such a great job getting it back together, iam very impressed 😁😁 and it flew great, yeah before you had said something I was looking at that and thought it looked a bit crocked but it didn't affect it at all. My Hats off to you
Congrats Nate! This is real, honest RC flying, etc. content that you two do. I do believe you got your inverted show pass, Nate- and it was beautiful. As proof I offer the setup and low pass at 07:50. Niiice. Most excellent flying and cam work!! Thanks guys! Be well :)
Credit where credit is due. Legit baby! Beautiful work man. Real RC stuff. This is the part of the culture that I love the most. It's that "I don't know, but boom here we go" attitude . Good stuff!
IT’S ALIVE !!!! Awesome job. Congratulations, glad to see it back in the air. Looks pretty good. The flight was flawless once the trimming was taken care of. Just a really great accomplishment. Now if a person wanted? You could use body or foam filler to really bring the nose back to showroom appearance? There is no end to RC modeling. That had to be a great feeling having it back. The grace of God is amazing. God bless.
I'm so glad you made this video! I have a critic that tells me if I keep putting glue on them they'll never fly right! My 400 mm Corsair actually flies better! Great job, keep up the great videos!
Wow I can’t believe you got it back together. Amazing job well done👍🏻 I didn’t know there was different types of glue sticks. I couldn’t find the link you said you would put in the description.
I re-maidened my RV-7 the other day. Unfortunately my inverted flight went into trees and only found a few pieces. But the Commander looks and flies great.
Nate: "I don't do inverted show passes ..." one minute later *performs perfect inverted show pass while narrating the video ... Great flying and the rebuild looks great, considering!
Good to see it fly again. I have started rc flying with the voltanex sport cub 500, and i bought the fms ranger 1220mm but i crashed it 3 times, i dont think this plane is suitabke for me do you suggest i buy the arrows pioneer?
Nice repair. Perfectly functional. Glad you got your fav plane of 22 back. "Hot Glue" is certainly the Duct Tape of foam aircraft. And I admit...I'm not sure a similar traditional balsa plane (what I've always flown) would have been repairable. Good video as always.
As long as you used BBQ skewers or some other similar structural strengthening method with the hot glue, it should hold up to any maneuver as if it was new. Great repair job Nate.
Nate its what I was worried about when I watched the first video. You're thrust has changed. I noticed the front of you're fuselage had wrinkles up on top just behind you're repairs. You're thrust angle has changed. Now in seeing this video it looks like its flying okay but you're going to lose alot of you're elevator control cause you have to trim it so much to correct it. I know you know all of this but I suspect you're like me (LOL) and very stubborn in that I'm going to fix it. It's awesome that you repaired it and darn good job too. Also balance you're prop it might help a little but the shaft might be bent also. Overall darn good job brother.
Well done mate I always consider glue as cosmetics for air craft, all the best to you and Abby you are simply a pleasure to watch take care and stay safe all the best from England 🇬🇧🇺🇸🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️💯🛩️😁
Great video! Just yesterday i crashed my volantex rc p51 mustang, because of the elavator anonymously reversing mid flight... Bent the motor shaft, and broke the plane in half. And today im fixing it. Thanks for the motivation to finish the job :).
Nate, nosed over on a landing yesterday (same plane). Motor mount is good, but foam is crushed in lower right corner (if looking forward), so that the prop now interferes with the cowling. How did you get the motor shaft alignment correct when gluing the plane back together? Maybe the alignment it is not as critical as I thought? Thanks, John
Looks great too AWESOME Nate sounds great and looks great in the air too sweet 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😃😎 Nate good job on it too ❤❤ Abby great work on the camera too AWESOME VIDEO Nate and Abby
congrats! It's always a good feeling to have an airplane fly again after a bad crash. i almost always have a plane to repair and i have only got 2 or 3 planes. probably because i am still new to the hobby and not too good at flying yet.
I've been waiting for this video. Nice job Nate! Something tells me that your going to fly this even harder now that it has broken foam. You'll be more comfortable with it now. BTW, what the heck is an inverted show pass? Is that just flying inverted low? I would just call that what it is, a low inverted pass which you happened to do during the video.
I knew some hot glue and it'll fly again. I have a Dynam Hawksky and have crashed that thing more than a dozen times and some hot glue and I added a couple carbon rods and it's still flying after about 7 years. (I'm a terrible pilot) But when I get better I'll buy one of the planes you fly with the Safe system. Love your videos. Love when you do the boats and crash mtn !!!! You're doing great Abby, it'll be the best day of your life when you two have your baby.
Amazingly, nothing on the motor mount broke at all!! The foam gave way, rather than breaking the plastic/ wood pieces. My mind was blown away while inspecting the damages. 👍😎⚓️
Great repair job Nate! You might remember that I crashed my new commander really bad on the maiden flight. She's back together, flew awesome today. Hopefully you can tell me why I'm having trouble flying off grass. It's a very short maintained grass runway at an AMA club field. It keeps tipping forward. Nothing helps. I moved the battery back, no help. Removed the wheel pants and installed 3 inch dubro wheels , still no luck. It will taxi up and down my hard packed gravel alley all day but put it on grass and it's almost like the little pilot (Butchie) is holding the brakes on. Frustrating, any ideas? Thanks as always
I have the same problem with my Commander, 066motocross. I still have the wheel pants and stock tires installed. I have not completely eliminated the problem, but I found that moving the linkage on my elevator control horn up two notches, setting rates on the elevator at 100% and giving it full up elevator in high rate at takeoff helps a little. The idea is to create as much down force on the back of the plane as possible to keep the front gears from getting held up in the grass. I have also taken to launching from the spots on the runway where the grass is the thinnest. I hope that helps. Good luck!
Good evening prayers and well wishes for you and your family thank you for all the information and entertainment that you guys provide I did order a helicopter and it's very enjoyable, what I wanted to know is what is the hot glue gun that you recommend? Nate, I fix my foam airplanes all the time. Because I crash a lot! I use light weight spackling paste. Gotta be the lite weight stuff. I get it at Leows. Gorilla glue, spackling paste and then paint. The thrill of victory! Good job... I've always found it to be most rewarding to pick up the pieces and experience the maiden flight all over again.
Nice to see it flying again good job
I really wasn’t sure if you guys could get it going. Good job Nate! Beautiful plane.
Please do a video or explain what that “snap” maneuver is.

Fantastic job at repairing your favourite bird. Glad she's airborne again. You've got skills bro👍
Your channel is fun, you are both great keep up the good work Saylors 👏
The Commander is my only plane at the moment. Such a great plane for my second plane.
Did you use any boiling water to de-compress the foam?
Glad you got her back together and flying again !!!!
It’s funny that I crashed my Turbo Timber Evo in the ground yesterday and I’m in the process of putting it back together too.
I'm so glad you made this video! I have a critic that tells me if I keep putting glue on them they'll never fly right! My 400 mm Corsair actually flies better! Great job, keep up the great videos!

Glad to see you got it back in the air! Nerve wracking indeed!
Nate, good job on the repair. Abby, you’re doing a great job with you Lamaze breathing.
Alex kowaliuk here I can't believe you got that mess back together,, great job.
The flight of the Phoenix! Good job Nate!
Your Commander is now renamed the Phoenix : Risen from the Ashes! Well done
Dang Nate, good job on the repair, so far so good

Awesome Nate. Definitely more intricate than a crashed RC car or truck. And I've had a few pushing it. Still fun. Flew great.
Good looking repair work!! Glad it's flying again!!!!
I Knew you could Fix it,Nate you are the Man,love watching your videos + Your does a Super Job Also,Have Fun!,,
Great repair. Would have Been cool to see a repair video.
On another note, what are your thoughts on remote ID and how will it effect your channel?
BRAVO!!! Glad to see it back in the air!!

Nate the builder can he fix it yes he can.. Great fix Nate 👍
Nice fix Nate!! Are you able to program a one or two second delay on your flaps with this plane?
Nice re-maiden and superb repair job Nate! I'm watching your video as I'm editing mine, lol

Way to go Nate. Happy you were able to get the plane repaired and back in the air.
Great repair, Nate. Now Abby has to fly it. 😀
Looks great too AWESOME Nate sounds great and looks great in the air too sweet 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😃😎 Nate good job on it too ❤❤ Abby great work on the camera too AWESOME VIDEO Nate and Abby
Nate, you may have changed the thrust angle of the aircraft. This would explain the lot of upthrust you had to trim out.
congrats! It's always a good feeling to have an airplane fly again after a bad crash. i almost always have a plane to repair and i have only got 2 or 3 planes. probably because i am still new to the hobby and not too good at flying yet.

BTW, what the heck is an inverted show pass? Is that just flying inverted low? I would just call that what it is, a low inverted pass which you happened to do during the video.
OMG! Good job!!!
For inverted flight, move your thumb behind the elevator stick so you can only push the stick and never panic pull "up" into the ground!
Very nice job,,, 😊😊one big smile to each of you.
I knew some hot glue and it'll fly again. I have a Dynam Hawksky and have crashed that thing more than a dozen times and some hot glue and I added a couple carbon rods and it's still flying after about 7 years. Brilliant video mate 👍👌
Can you do a video explaining doing trim with a visual of the transmitter?
Nicely done! I feel your victory!
Nate, get a felt tip pen with (roughly) the same color as the plane, and color in those cracks to finish off your repair work ;-)
Was there any special issues with re-anchoring the motor mount? Did any of the plastic pieces break around the motor mount?
Good luck!
You could put a nose wheel on it.
See you did it!! You can do anything, well done Nate.
May I ask what camera you are using? Btw, good job Abby👍
We all feel your pain Brother. I have planes that are now made of glue held together by bits of foam but they still fly 😁👍
Wow! Good job, the bird looks solid in the air...especially considering what it's been through. 😉
OOOoooohhh, been waiting for this one!
Good job man.
Good evening prayers and well wishes for you and your family thank you for all the information and entertainment that you guys provide I did order a helicopter and it's very enjoyable, what I wanted to know is what is the hot glue gun that you recommend? And what other cordless tool sets you recommend?
I've always found gorilla glue to work much better on foam planes than hot glue, the gorilla glue seams tend to be stronger than the foam itself
Fixed it.good job.
Thanks Nick! 👍😎⚓️
Nate, I fix my foam airplanes all the time. Because I crash a lot! I use light weight spackling paste. Gotta be the lite weight stuff. I get it at Leows. Gorilla glue, spackling paste and then paint. I fix them to where you, quite literally, cannot tell it had been damaged. Good job, though. And most importantly, it can fly!
We've all been there and done that! Part of the joys or RC flying.
future reppairs, better use white glue, Grip bond 3, or gorila glue, hot glue is quicker but it leaves a gap in the repaired portion, while wood glue makes it hard to spot where the damage was.
(not an english speaker, did my best.)
Nice ! Thanks
