Jenny demonstrates how to make a beautiful "9 Patch Madness" Quilt using 5 inch square of precut fabric. She chose "New Hope" Charm Packs by Jo Morton for Moda Fabrics. This pattern is actually a disappearing 9-patch block, and it is so much easier than it looks!
OOPS! We made some mistakes! We said 4 packages of 5” background squares were needed for the quilt, but that’s not quite enough.
    Here's how to correct it:
    • Increase the background yardage for the inner border from 3/4 yard to 1 yard.
    • Cut (2) 5” strips across the width of the fabric. Subcut the strips into 5” squares.
    • Each strip will yield 8 squares and a total of 12 are needed.
    • Add the 12 squares to the 4 packages (background fabric) you already have.
    • Set aside the rest of the yardage for the inner border.
*Also on page 4 of the pattern under the heading 2 SEW, we say make 30 units with the print half-square triangles touching the center. That should say make 16 units.

I just found this 6 year old video. I have some charm pack that I have been looking for a pattern. I’ve made maybe four different blocks but none of them were what I wanted. After viewing this I tried it with my charm pack and it is just what I wanted. So now I can move forward with the quilt. Thanks MSQC.

Awesome quilt with bonus table runner. I LOVE not having fabric wasted after it's been cut. If you were making this quilt as a gift, you could make a couple pillows, instead of the runner. Both are great options. Thank you for the fun idea and quilt tutorial.

You folks at MSQC just come up with the most clever projects. I love it! I think I'd use a layer cake for the colour, and yardage for the background fabric. By my arithmetic, that means 3.75yards (which includes the inner border). Now my cutting skills aren't the greatest, so I'd probably round up to 4yards of background, just to give myself some "oopsie" room. Thanks Jenny and team for another great tutorial. ~Diana from Toronto
