What brought tears to me the most was seeing the instrument there with the empty seat...its a memoriam to Dilla because he used to play that (Cello I think) Mad love and light to Dilla and his family
wow. i no idea how i missed this , i heard on radio yesterday and one of those songs that make you stop and go wow, wtf, amazing, incredidle everything about it is magical but the vocal!!!!!
Give him some for me too my man. Bilal kills everything he gets on with that soulful voice. That performance he gave at tiny desk with black thought is....shit man I dont even have a word for it. My man can sing better than I can talk haha.
Bilal"s interpretation of "Reminisce" years later exudes experienced love & loss (J. Dilla etc). I feel his expression... his nostalgia. It hits your heart. And the orchestra... wow o wow. Awesome video...
Didn't know J Dilla existed until a few years ago. Have been in love with his music through Bilal, Common, Erikah Badu, Roots, Tribe Called Quest and others. Pete Rock and CL Smooth's Reminisce has always been one of my favorite jams and reminded me of my life growing up in Los Angeles in the 80's. Bilal took it to another level. I wasn't sure why I loved this obscure artist first album so much. Now I know! Awesome collaboration. I don't think we as Africans should attempt to justify the beautiful music we have created that has deep roots in Africa with "classical music" which demeans its existence in an attempt to "civilize " it. The violin, cello and probably many other "classical' instruments have their roots in Africa many thousands of years ago. Why are we going backwards?
Saw Bilal at a summer concert one evening at NJPAC and he was FANTASTC!! ❤️ Would love to see him again!! Also saw him perform on tv in a Prince tribute!! RIP Prince!
WHAT CAN I SAY AFTER THAT BUT, WOW LET US NOT FORGET THE ARRANGER, HE WAS SMOKIN HE MADE MEMBERS WITH THEIR INSTRUMENTlS FLOW, LIKE A MOON FILLED NIGHT BY THE OCEAN. THANK YOU SO MUCH 🙏 ❤
👋🏾🫡from the land of🌞&🌴AZ by way of Dillatroit as we get closer to another 🕯️🕊️Dilla month fortunate & grateful to be here 🎉🥳🥂2025=9yr🧘🏿♂️❤️𓂀🪬Ase’ooosome🥰
