He's right, the Dramastic Audio Obsidian is a fantastic SSL style master bus compressor, still hard to match ITB for those of us who still like to work hybrid. Well done, lads, another victory! Keep it up! Cheers
I started watching your studio you’re the last few months and I’m always looking forward to these. Helps give me ideas to set up and organize my setup more especially since I’m moving to a new house in a few months. Great work Andrew, as always. 💯
I have a C24 and it's really a game changer for me. Making automations with the mouse was boring for me. With the C24, I feel like I'm mixing with my ears, not my eyes. I run PT under Rosetta (on a Mac mini M1) so it can see the C24 as a legacy controller and have full access to all the functions of the board. If I run PT natively, it can only see the C24 like a hui controller so the board is limited..
Hey Andrew, in your own home studio, what brand of acoustic treatment do you use? The sound you get is really high def, with nice transients, and great low end. I used to think preamps were gonna solve that for me but I just acquired some nice quality preamps, and my sounds are much better, but still not as good as yours. Came to realise, it's gotta be my room. So I'm going to invest in some more professional level acoustic treatments. I was gonna go with GIK acoustics. Wondering which you go for because your sounds are great!
Was the vintage outboard gear always a thing? Like the LA2A etc. Or is it just a recent thing and if so what were recording studios using before the vintage craze?
can i ask an extremely stupidd question? as an European I noticed that a huge percentage of these videos have people holding a mug. is that an American thing, or a sound producer thing? cuz I've never seen that anywhere else out of US
It’s more of a creative professional trend, rather than just producer/mixer thing. It’s definitely a thing though lol. As if none of these people ever drink soda, energy drink, bottled water , etc.

cool studio! im glad the c24 is still getting love - i've had had mine since 2012 its still awesome
30:25 Monterey Retreat! Amazing setup, Derek!

11:00 Eyyy we love to see it! Thanks for the tour guys, loved it all
2 of our favorite guys!
Derek is a legend!
I like the studio flow and clean vintage vibes.
This studio is wow, love your channel. South Africa
My current mix chain is that Warm Audio Pultec in to the Joe Meek. Funny to see both here.
We recorded an EP with Derek at Prime in 2020. Incredible sounds and time. 🤘
As soon as Behringer make enough items, this will be me
😂 go Beringer..
Behringer just came out with a stereo compressor/limiter that looks actually pretty dope.
Lol
@@justinreynolds3935 exactly
I’d give up all the gear in my rack and only use Behringer as long as the band and song are great. 😂
If I hear “vintage” one more time! 😂
I’ve seen all of your studio tours 😭❤️ I didn’t realize it was that many.
Great studio!

I built that studio so did I get any credit for the general design and layout I came up with LOL!
Still rocking the C24! Love it!

Great video and great studio!
Do you know, which third Party Software is used, to run the c24?
V-Control by Neyrinck. I use with my C24
@@JeanmarkRodriguez Thanks for response. Do you know, if it also runs with M1 and Pro Tools 2024?
Hello Andrew, great photography, do you recorded in 24 fps? I can see different the video! Or maybe you changed your camera! 🤗

Can someone please explain how are the panels in the wall? are they using fabric to cover the wall?
What do you think of your Studer 962 console?
Just curious about the mic in the middle of the three vocal mics. I couldn’t catch the name of it. Any idea on the make?
Andrew Monheim makes the mic.

What happened to your space?

Not sure why people invest huge money into studios like this when there is virtually no money to be made.
Because they’re hippies

Admittedly I am not that precious about gear. It works or it doesn’t, I like it or I don’t.
I’ve had success with em.
Good old Avid. Charge you $133K for a board then say "screw you."
It wasnt 133k. I remember when that thing came out and it never did cost more than 13k at the most. And that was at least 15 years ago by now.

I don’t like this guy’s vibe at all. His arrogance is palpable.
I didn't get that vibe at all. He seems passionate. Especially when he references back to when he started as a teen with a cruddy setup.
