  • Time for some lighting and other electrical projects on the MX6000 and it just came to the point that the best process was to go ahead and remove the cab roof. I will repeat a few things due to time frame between video clips but the production director was busy doing the project :-).
Hopefully you will find some good tips before you start the same type projects....
    1:26 Roof off.
2:32 About the roof bolts, clips.
4:26 Tour of the top of the headliner with roof off, what you usually can't see.
8:57 More about the radio install.
11:17 Start looking at the rear amber lights.
12:53 Installing amber lights on the roof top.
22:53 Running wiring, putting it in a loom and running through the B post.
27:43 front work light brackets and mounting.
30:58 a break in time from working on this but reviewing where we are.
35:04 looking at the rear and top amber lights working.
37:08 looking at the front work lights working.

This is a great video. It gave me the confidence to take my roof off (MX6000) and do similar work. Very interesting to see what is under the roof.

I appreciate the comment. Videoing makes a project take much longer but I've learned so much from other folks taking the same effort. To me, the roof removal was way easier than I expected.

You should take a look at Paul and Kathy Short videos, he has some amazing lighting ideas for Kubota tractors.

I have watched some of theirs... have a new project underway with a new switch panel, lighting and salt spreader controller, and radios. Fun stuff!

Is there anywhere inside the roof to grab 12v acc power? I have 2 wireless cameras I want to mount to the top looking down behind me and to the grapple on front BUT, even though they are wireless, I have to run power to the cameras.

When i evaluated anything "hot" in the roof, it was because a switch had been turned on to the ac etc....however, there are power circuits there for rear work lights, the radio harness etc.
I just decided to run my own power up the right side b post.

Beautiful part of the country. What general area do you live? Retirement is in focus now and I’m always looking towards the future.

No rear worklights? Should come with them from the factory. Too bad.

I agree except I kind of like choosing my own lights. The factory halogens to the front were meh... I do plan on some other rear work lights but down the list after some other small projects.
Would be nice if there were harnesses right to where they would likely go.

Just remembered ... I think that was an option when I bought the tractor but knew I would be doing it differently anyway
