In Tekken 7, I played Heihachi with garbage execution. I now main Reina. She is such an insanely versatile and fun character with her stances and mixups and all. My execution is still trash but I still get a good amount of wins in Ranked. I played on and off since tekken 3. Got back into it properly with tekken 7. Genuinely never enjoyed tekken this much ever before. Thank you Harada for Tekken 8 and Reina!
Just wanted to let mainman to know. Reina also has his Kazuya heel drop tech too. The only difference is that Reina's version is an EWGK instead of a ff4 which is a bit hard. Same properties. Needs to stand up to avoid getting hit.
@@EraseTime So my combo is basically EWGF - EWGF - f23 to sentai - df1 - f23 to sentai 2 tornado - cd forward - f4 - EWGK. Don't know how much damage Kaz's version does but Reina's can do 90. If you're having trouble with EWGK, you can just do fd33 for 4 less dmg. It's much easier.
@@benzhq563 You can but a little bit lesser damage. fd33 is 4 less dmg than an EWGK. But it's still a lot of dmg so it's definitely still an option to get extra damage.
I have "Death Fight on the Neon" from T6 as my character select screen. Usually, because I miss every genre of Tekken music Nowadays, it's just all dubstep😔.

I tried picking her up yesterday because I liked her design. She's definitely not easy but I definitely need to lab her more. I'm a Yoshi main so I'm sticking with him for now until I want to move onto someone else. Picking up a new character is like relearning the game all over again lol.

As someone who has never played a Mishima until Reina. I love how you can ease into that playstyle with her, and learn Electrics and wave dashing at your own pace. My execution needs alot of work, but she has so many tools where you dont feel uselss without it.

I really love seeing Reina piloted well because she just looks so damn cool when she's doing her thing! Sadly, I worry that the complexity of the character may diminish her use in casual matches in the long run but maybe if enough really badass players pick her up and show how cool she is then more people will be inspired to try.
You make a very good point about Reina. She is my main character to play next to Steve and Jin. My roommate and I play Tekken 8 almost every night. And he switches to a different character each go around. Plus we are both martial artists with him being the more experienced one. And I can say Reina’s style of fighting can damn near neutral just about everyone in the game. The only character that can actually give Reina a hard time is Azucena. Azucena is a good character along side Reina. This Tekken by far is the best one out of the series.
i had decided to try moving to other characters than trying to play Mishima in t7 but as soon as i went into training mode with this character I've relapsed lol, her having a customization coat like t3/ttt1 Heihachi was really fun too

I been liking her as much as Kazuya almost. Her combos are so fun to do as well there are sooo many different routes that you can combo with and i she can wall to wall for like 89 damage on the 24 meter stages with no heat its dope
I guess I'm going to eventually make time for her. She has enough Mishima basics to where I have somewhere to start, even if some of them don't function the same.

I really thought I would like reina, especially since she has the heihachi/kazumi df1,2, the kazumi b2 and all that juicy fundamental tools I liked with Kazumi in 7. But idk, I gave her a shot and her being a stance character with flippy flips, weak lows and most importantly her 1,1,2 not knocking down(which is half the satisfaction of the move for me) really let me down. It has lead me t rediscover Paul from my Tekken 4/5 days, but still undecided who the frick I'm gonna main in this game. Kazumi was just too clean(and I swear if one more person recommends Shaheen, I will perform Reinas heat smash on them irl). Anybody think Devil Jin can be played with fundamentals similar to Kazumi while slowly integrating wavu-wavu?
Imo devil Jin can’t be played anything remotely similar to kazumi. His pokes are kinda lacklustre in this game and most of the time I’m looking for a knockdown so I can enforce morning crow, electric pressure or 50/50. You could try poke with 11, d4 and d3 but it’s really lacklustre vs kazumi or normal Jin. DJ df1 also got nerfed from 7
I hope reina some moves with lightning will be used in other mishimas in the future she is prob the best new cha in a long time but no one can replace heihachi bring him back
7:25 amazing triple electric, does anyone have tips on how to do this move? I've played Tekken 7 casually, and have never really played the Mishimas. In Tekken 8 I've been able to do double electric at most 7 times out of 10 in practice, but I could never do triple.
I played 150 matches with Reina. She seems weak. Bad lows, lack of mid ch launchers, bad launchers at all, bad mixup utility. Her strength is stance pressure. But even here you forced to mind games, she dont have single option that you can always do. You always risk, when you not risking your reward is just mini combo, when the other characters get full combo.
Is it me or is it Super easy to Rank Up in this game? I almost made it to Emperor Rank in T7 when it was all said and done and that was still a process of playing the game off and on since 2017. In Tag 2 I barely made past warrior and here we are with T8 being barely a week old and i'm already at "Genbu" with barely 3 losses under my belt.

Random thought, would like to see some opinions: what if they remove armor from heat burst. I feel like its too easy to steal your turn when you're low especially with some characters that have heat smashes that transition into stance with +frames.

Hey MainMan - and the community in general. You think it's a good time to buy and get in to tekken?? Never really been a fighting game person at all, my last Tekken was 3 on the PS1 back in the day. But it looks dope AF, been watching you+some tournaments for a while now. I downloaded and tried the Demo for a bit, my character i wanted to play wasn't available in the demo so i just tried learning some stuff on Jin for the luls. I only really have my keyboard to play with, and its a TKL so the numpad is missing, can you hit me with some good keyboard layouts?? I used Wasd for movement, space for up was too confusing, ended up N+J for left and right punch, O+P for left and right kick, K for the Heat button, U+I for the bumpers (which was only used for the menu anyway??) Felt very straining on my right hand after 90 minutes of playing, so i feel its not a good layout, and.. Any way to QoL improve the move list?? It still shows everything like im using a controller, so learning moves wasnt.. impossible, but pretty confusing overall since i'm on the keyboard.
I'd say that Tekken is overall fun even on the non competitive side. Lots of singleplayer content especially on the ghost battles and arcade quest, plus the new multiplayer modes aren't too bad either. I used to play on a keyboard, though I play on a hitbox now. I used the hitbox layout (asd + space) and went for the default layout for punches (ui) and kicks (jk). I mapped the LB and LT to y and h while RB and RT was on OL. It proved useful since I didnt have to reach too far and it felt like an ordinary stick/hitbox layout. You can bind the bumpers to macros if you desire to and if it helps you with the inputs. I have mine bound to 1+2 and 3+4 since those often fire wrongly. One thing to remember is to always take breaks. My hands also start to feel sluggish around an hour or two of playing, so I take breaks here and there to prevent that.
I'm not much of a story/single player guy, but AI/Ghosts seem like a good way to just get into the game for sure, i didn't even have practice mode on the demo xd. That does sound pretty good tbh, i wanted a more ergonomic feel to the buttons, but i think i just made it more confusing on myself, i realized after a while theres no need to have one of each finger on the kicks/punches buttons at all times haha. I'll keep your layout in mind in case i buy the game. Will probably wait for some kind of a sale, not that i don't think the game is worth 70, i just think that's a bit steep for any game in general. I'll keep watching the scrupman in the meanwhile kek.@@hue64_m
If you play on keyboard I suggest moving onto hitbox later on. I was a keyboard player but the hitbox is so much more comfortable for longer play sessions.
I’m new to tekken as well and I’m having sooo much fun. I’ve taken on the challenge of maining Kazuya as my very first character and let me say he is challenging. Tekken is a lot harder to learn than street fighter or smash bros in my opinion but once you understand the fundamentals you can get the hang of it pretty well. One thing I will say though is learning to get out of grabs as a new player is really challenging. I still don’t understand it and once someone figures out that I have a weakness to grabs they will just abuse it. I will learn though I am determined 😤
I hit purple ranks today with reina even though i'm a new tekken player. Never be afraid to pick a character up you want to play with, all you need is dedication.

Yes. Your lowesr ranks get pulled up a bit by your highest, but you can have a Brawler and a Vanquisher.

I played 150 matches with Reina. She seems weak. Bad lows, lack of mid ch launchers, bad launchers at all, bad mixup utility. Her strength is stance pressure. But even here you forced to mind games, she dont have single option that you can always do. You always risk, when you not risking your reward is just mini combo, when the other characters get full combo.

Is it me or is it Super easy to Rank Up in this game? I almost made it to Emperor Rank in T7 when it was all said and done and that was still a process of playing the game off and on since 2017. In Tag 2 I barely made past warrior and here we are with T8 being barely a week old and i'm already at "Genbu" with barely 3 losses under my belt.

Random thought, would like to see some opinions: what if they remove armor from heat burst. I feel like its too easy to steal your turn when you're low especially with some characters that have heat smashes that transition into stance with +frames.

Hey MainMan - and the community in general. You think it's a good time to buy and get in to tekken?? Never really been a fighting game person at all, my last Tekken was 3 on the PS1 back in the day. But it looks dope AF, been watching you+some tournaments for a while now.
I downloaded and tried the Demo for a bit, my character i wanted to play wasn't available in the demo so i just tried learning some stuff on Jin for the luls. I only really have my keyboard to play with, and its a TKL so the numpad is missing, can you hit me with some good keyboard layouts?? I used Wasd for movement, space for up was too confusing, ended up N+J for left and right punch, O+P for left and right kick, K for the Heat button, U+I for the bumpers (which was only used for the menu anyway??)
Felt very straining on my right hand after 90 minutes of playing, so i feel its not a good layout, and.. Any way to QoL improve the move list?? It still shows everything like im using a controller, so learning moves wasnt.. impossible, but pretty confusing overall since i'm on the keyboard.
I'd say that Tekken is overall fun even on the non competitive side. Lots of singleplayer content especially on the ghost battles and arcade quest, plus the new multiplayer modes aren't too bad either.
I used to play on a keyboard, though I play on a hitbox now. I used the hitbox layout (asd + space) and went for the default layout for punches (ui) and kicks (jk). I mapped the LB and LT to y and h while RB and RT was on OL. It proved useful since I didnt have to reach too far and it felt like an ordinary stick/hitbox layout.
You can bind the bumpers to macros if you desire to and if it helps you with the inputs. I have mine bound to 1+2 and 3+4 since those often fire wrongly.
One thing to remember is to always take breaks. My hands also start to feel sluggish around an hour or two of playing, so I take breaks here and there to prevent that.
I'm not much of a story/single player guy, but AI/Ghosts seem like a good way to just get into the game for sure, i didn't even have practice mode on the demo xd.
That does sound pretty good tbh, i wanted a more ergonomic feel to the buttons, but i think i just made it more confusing on myself, i realized after a while theres no need to have one of each finger on the kicks/punches buttons at all times haha. I'll keep your layout in mind in case i buy the game. Will probably wait for some kind of a sale, not that i don't think the game is worth 70, i just think that's a bit steep for any game in general. I'll keep watching the scrupman in the meanwhile kek.@@hue64_m
With your button layout, do you mainly use your pointer, and middle finger to do attacks or do you ever use a third??@@hue64_m
If you play on keyboard I suggest moving onto hitbox later on. I was a keyboard player but the hitbox is so much more comfortable for longer play sessions.
I’m new to tekken as well and I’m having sooo much fun. I’ve taken on the challenge of maining Kazuya as my very first character and let me say he is challenging. Tekken is a lot harder to learn than street fighter or smash bros in my opinion but once you understand the fundamentals you can get the hang of it pretty well. One thing I will say though is learning to get out of grabs as a new player is really challenging. I still don’t understand it and once someone figures out that I have a weakness to grabs they will just abuse it. I will learn though I am determined 😤
