    This was great but I have a few issues. I get Monthly or Weekly "Tsunami Warnings" in the Northeast US. When I look at them they are listed as "Test". It would be great to have the ability to have the Event Status of "Actual" be used to filter out false alarms.

    Do you plan on update the template for new update version of nws alerts?

    I am having trouble getting the Code for NWS Alert Parsing to work. I think its showing the legacy format. How do I use the new format that HA wants?

    Enjoyed the video. Thank you! Just a heads up... While you mentioned the 255 character hard limit for a state in Home Assistant in the video, the code on your website does not reflect the changes you made to the template.

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oops, yep you are right, I added them to post before I figured out that limit. I have updated the post on the website. Thank you for the heads up!!!
      I swear, I had to cut 40 minutes of dead space of just me cursing home assistant why that template sensor wasn't working. It works great in the dev tools but when you apply it to a sensor you run into that limit. Thanks again!.

    Great video! Super in-depth! I'm trying to create a 3rd template to split the spoken description, but I can't seem to get it to work. I've tried multiple variations and it always comes back as "unavailable". The spoken description is shorter and more concise and I'd rather use that with my TTS than a other one. Any thoughts?

    Would you be able to walk me through on how to go about setting this up for OBS? I'm really just trying to grab the automated text to scroll on the bottom of the screen as a weather alert ticker. Thanks in advance!

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am sure OBS has an API plug in. You are just reading an endpoint, looking for a number above 1 and then retrieving a value.

    Could you look at adding two sensors for the description due to that 255 char limit?

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that 255 character limit is gone now

    Awesome video! I started from a fresh install of HA and I do not see a sensors.yaml file. Do I need to create one? I'm running HA 2021.12.9

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sensors.yaml is optional. You can just define the sensor inside of your configuration.yaml. it's not required but recommended to split your configuration files by category. Let me know if that does not make sense.

    I'm using TrueNAS with HA running in Jails. Anyone know who to get the custom Compounds folder into the right place?

    Doesn't work any more... "Radar down for maintenance" for weeks now....

      This happened before last year but it just went down again last month.
      I still use the regional radar but the local has issues.

    I love this application! However, after the 2024.7 update, I get this Repair notice:
    "The automation "NWS Weather Alert for Tornado" (automation.nws_weather_alert_for_tornado) is not active because the configuration has errors.
    Error:expected a dictionary for dictionary value @ data['action'][3]['target']. Got 'android_tv_fire_tv'.
    To fix this error, edit the automation to correct it, then save and reload the automation configuration."
    ((The automation displays a message on my Sony TV when a tornado warning is issued)).
    Anything I i can do to fix this?

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It sounds like one of the updates have changed the fire TV integration. You might want to review the breaking changes for the last couple of versions and see if there's anything in there about Amazon fire TV.

      @@ThisSmartHouse Going back to February, I did not see any breaking changes for Sony, Android-Fire TVs.
      I commented (#) the lines out of Packages/Weatheralerts and the repair notice went away.
      I have about a dozen notifications that use the android-fire notification service and none of them have reported a problem... yet.
      Thanks for your great work. Keep it up!

    Would anyone have a line of code for expiration time that matches the format of the title and description sensors?

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you trying to pull the expiration time out of the alert?
