    Amazing review about your „Day Tripper Easel“. I‘d just stumbled upon your TH-cam video whilst I was searching plein air easels. I‘m glad that I‘d stumbled onto your video. Very informative & great valuable tips for all interested artists. Also enjoyed „your“ very original quote „what do you need? … even if it was from your accountant! Artists are always very original in their creativity & in their minds daily! Being practical is an essential quality needless to say. Thank you for sharing 🤗👍👏🙏❤️😉

    Thank you so much for this video! I am a watercolor painter. This easel/pochade is really set up for oil painting because of the shallow center pan. The Strada can hold a watercolor pallette. I like how this one connects to the tri-pod.

      Thank you Jerry! Since I really like Joshua’s idea of the daytripper, my easel is similar to his with some modifications that I mentioned in the video. I’m working on a small things that Josh missed and of course the quality of materials and craftsmanship. I’m trying to incorporate a wood with some 3D printing. I was hoping to release it in two month, but with very slow shipments and lack of materials on general it looks like September or October

    To reply to a couple of questions below: The name of the piece to fix the quick release plate is called T-Nut, 1/4 inch. It is standard to insert any screws that are placed on the quick release plates (the top part on the tripod head) across any brands from tripods.

      Hi Andy, do you mean palette surface on my easel or on DayTripper? On my DayTripper I’m using plastic painted white on the back. I used to have a glass but decided to switch to plastic due to light weight and durability... I broke my glass palette several times.

    • @openstudiod
      @openstudiod  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good questions! First of all it is all about preferences. I would recommend ordering it with just plexiglass but ask them NOT to silicone it to the easel. This way you will be able to do whatever you will decide later. I would not recommend ordering it with glass… it will break! You can mention that I (Vlad - Open Studio D channel) referred you, and then ask for a custom build NOT TO SILICONE.
      Regarding the upright holder, if you are planning on plein air painting I would recommend no more than 18”… this is what I’m using all the time.
      Let me know if you need any help with ordering. I have a direct contact with production people.

    I'm not sure of the level of your intelligence, but you might have been able to figure out that a simple strip of artists tape over the conjunction of the two halves, keep it closed. You coiuld of course keep the piece of string handy in case you break your shoelaces.

    • @openstudiod
      @openstudiod  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bill, you right… my intelligence does not allow me to use just tape due to my experience. I stared with the tape,,, probably as you do right now, but I was constantly running out of tape, the trays are very oily and tape does not stick to it, and so on and on. And when you move very fast on competitions you need something you can trust. That is the reason I’m using what I’m using based on experience which I share here on my channel. You should admit, I never said that my way is the only way… you can always use what ever is convenient to you.
