  • An overview on how we look at knives and knife defence at the Bartitsu Lab
NOTE: weapons are dangerous. Some types may be illegal to own or carry where you live around the world. These videos are primarily designed to provide a historical flavour of how things may have worked, or were taught / used. The onus is always on you to know the law and the repercussions as it applies to you. Train safely and responsibly.
Welcome to the Bartitsu Lab. Home to content covering historic and modern arts.
The channel has a focus on the arts of Edwardian / Victorian Britain and the WW2 Theatre, though you will see many things outside of that too.

Yup your teachings are the exact same as what I was taught. This is one reason why I hate fighting. Not so much beacuase i'm scared of people or can't defend myself. But because I can defend myself and know alot about this style. I know anyone who knows even a relative decent ammount of Bartitsu can kill someone pretty easily and on the get go with the right weapons or setting or you simply see it coming which is why in a self defense situation you have to be careful under attack encase you accidently do someone over without intent. Batritsu is the most electronic and most gentlemanly way to beat down someone who's a threat but in extreme circumstances you can cause someone life changing significant damage beyond repair. I'd feel sorry for anyone who picks a fight with the tiny few in the world who know this style. It's the style I learned outside of cadets because to me it's the most fluent and most beautiful art form and knife play and the use of your enviroment trains the brain to think fast, sharp and firm. Bartitsu teaches you how to weaponise the world to your advantage not just the use of your own antomys limitations. ❤

Your shirt rocks! I still have my original Karate Kid headband from 1986. Are you familiar with Tod Cutler? I just got a Scottish dirk from him, and it's become one of my favorite blades.

Excellent videos, very usefull and practical.
In UK.. Which type knives are legal to carry ?
I'd read about some restrictions, but don't know if they're true.
Surely there's no problems with a two hands opening method SAK (several models with blade locking mechanism)
What about a flashlight with a size of a Minimaglite or the modern models based on those sizes?
    Regards a thanks from Germany

Kempo is cool, but many sequences are very complex. I think earlier stuff may be better for those looking at purely self defence content

Yo if anyone needs to carry around that crazy black machete knife you have no business fighting anything or anybody. I find i like a 2 inch straight blade just long enough to say stick somebody in the gut if. They are advancing or also sharp enough to just lean in and knick the carotid

If you step in the ring, fine!
But if you try to hurt me or my people , any thing goes
