      @@xNoktemAeternus2 You'd probably still have to buy all the plugins, but for the plugins you've bought, all of the amps, cabs, effects, etc. would all show up in the app as individual components, so you could take an amp from Archetype Petrucci and pair it with a delay from Archetype Nolly, etc., all within a single app. So it's one plugin running, instead of two or more, which would likely take less power for your computer to run. Dude, that last tone is totally, 100% useable! No joke. That sounds absolutely sick and could easily find it's way into a track as a progressive/psychadelic sound design-y top line melody. That's the thing with music production, making what seems like a completely silly signal chain will often yield absolutely mind blowing results. People need to take more chances with sound design in their music! Sick video.

    Or instead of spending way too much money on 3 NDSP plugins, take an amp sim you know and love that has an overdrive pedal in it, put a high pass filter EQ in front of it, choose an IR you love and then EQ to control the resonant and boomy frequencies.
    You can do this and only actually spend $15 for the IRs or just use a free plugin that sounds good

  • @tusharjamwal
    @tusharjamwal ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Your perspective does depend on the marketing though. This video to me showcases the weakness or disadvantage of neural DSP plugins in that they are all discrete and bundled pieces of gear. You cannot buy the fortin pedals to use with the nolly amps and the gojira cabs individually. Buying aside, you cannot load them in the same plugin you have to make a plugin chain which I personally do not like, I want a single UI if possible.
    Not saying that it doesn't work though. But I find myself using Audio Assault products for when I am looking to craft tone (ReAmp Studio and lately Amp Locker) and using neural for tones that I don't wanna dial in and want quickly, because I like how so many artists are commissioned to make presets for the plugins before launch.

    The approach to crafting a tone for someone who’s used to tube amps versus someone who’s used to sims is really interesting. I’m a reformed tube purist who’s about a week into using sims, and it seemed like a no-brainer to start with plugins based on my own gear and stack them. That said, I’ll always love my tube amps, but damn am I having a great time with sims.

    i wish companies would take the bias fx approach more often, just having all your amps cabs and pedals in one space with a one time payment or even a tiered payment that unlocks different things at certain price thresholds, that would simply be perfect, and i could use this technique in standalone mode when i'm just jamming/practicing and dont wanna open a daw and be able to use all the suits i paid for in one single program pretty much exactly how bias fx does it

    I like how this video lowkey suggested that u NEED to buy ALL the Neural plugins to reap full benefits and reach the ultimate guitar sound! This is very clever IQ200 type of marketing disguised as a guitar tip video 🧠📈💰
    But here's a FREE tip for the rest of us people who are not bound by Neural DSP: if u use standalone plugins, u can pair ANY amp with ANY pedal and then use ur favorite IR loader to load ANY IR u have! 🙌 #winning

    I think it's good to do it this way as there may certain pedals you want to use compared to what was already given in the Neural DSP plugins, but that's also if your computer can handle it as the plugins itself may be more CPU intensive if you don't have a good computer, and not everyone has that luxury to have a good quality computer that won't bog down after just a few instances of any Neural DSP plugins.

    i tend to split the pre-amp+amp section in one layer and record them on besides of the di track. This way i can hard-record my pedals with a controller while playing, without making different tracks for each setup, or use a midi automation for controller tracking. when the timing sucked, i use the di track to re-record while having all my attention to the pedals. EQ, IR and post-fx i use separate on my final mixing tracks. Its a nice way to be creative with all your virtual pedals. Once you set everything up, it's very easy to use.

    Notching out resonant spikes n the EQ of the cab IR, EQing your DI to get it in the directing of the tone your after, laying your saturated sound with a cleaner gain sound that retains the note definition and just generally playing tight also makes the sound closer to what we here on albums. Go watch Joey Sturgis if you want to here the same ideas from a professional.

You pretty much have to crank the pedal too and get the full quack because if you only put it up half way or 3/4 then you loose signal strength and gain. Try the tse 808, it's free and buster from humanitys last breath used it on a few albums.

    Quick one, I know the input from the plugins are important to the tone. What do you do regarding these, IE running the drive from the Fortin grind, in to the Nolly 5150. Do you tame the output and input, or do you let this drive them. As obviously it's a drive pedal but curious to how this works in a digital plugin world.

    This was a lot of fun! I've experimented with stacking NDSP plugins in my DAW before, like bringing a chorus over into one that doesn't have it, but the primary "mixing" I've done is to take a couple of my favorite IR files from Cali and load them into my other NDSP plugins. I freakin' love their sound.
    One thing I was wondering about - there are several gates on in these screenshots. The 1st setup has the Zuul on (love it), plus the NDSP gate in Cali, and Nolly, and Gojira. Do you notice any difference with them on vs off? When I have Nameless or Cali open I have their Neural gates off because I've got the Zuul going, but I've never bothered to check for a difference if I left them on. Perhaps the one that's set the highest (Zuul in this case) is the only one that matters.

    if you take a neural dsp plugin and, for example, a Gojira plugin and divide it into 3 sections: 1. pedal 2. amplifier 3. cabinet and compare it with plugin, in which everything is included in one, the sound will be completely different. The situation is the same with other plugins neural dsp. Gain staging does not help get the same sound as in one plugin

    i just use helix for the pitch shifter in nolly or omega amp work, but yeah combining plugins is a lot of fun! Right now I m using avox tube saturation (a hormonic inhancer) on my di before going into archetyp nolly and adds that extra crispyness on my modern crunch tones!
