    Thanks for watching! Here’s the plugins I used in this video:

    ProMB: sweetwater.sjv.io/3eGXbM

    I've also started using soothe2 to sidechain, it's amazing! I tend to use a sharper setting when sidechaining vocals or lead guitars to really only cut out the notes that are being sung/played 😊

      Soothe sidechain crew rise up! I was looking in to TrackSpacer when I read that I could use Soothe (which I already owned) to perform the same function. Works nicely.

    That was a stellar tutorial mate. Aside from the side-chaining knowledge I just gained, I feel like the way you described your treatment of lead guitar (as if it’s the vocals) actually gives me a more tangible approach to incorporate in my own writing. Thank you for this!

    Regardless of how far I've come, I still forget things I've learned. Like, ridiculously easy things to forget. 1) I forget to sidechain literally anything. 2) the end.

    I've been struggling with these issues a lot and have learned that this is crucial not only for punch and clarity, but this also increases perceptive loudness since the instruments frequencies do not overlap that much calculating into a louder sounding mix. This is evident especially when you compare heavy songs on youtube and the modern ones that are sidechained clearly sounds way louder.

      Just heard some, ain't so bad! Get room treatment, corner bass traps good start. Learn gain-staging (let kick and snare peak @ -6db, everything else get the level to -18db,) put a buss compressor on the master buss, internal sidechain to about 150hz, fast attack and release, compress about 2db, and don't limit it to heck and that should be enough to get started. Don't get frustrated I've been s--t at it for years lol.

    TrackSpacer is a pretty dope alternative that kind of does the same thing as Soothe but for much lower CPU cost across a 32 band EQ with a much simpler UI. I'm more inclined to use it liberally everywhere that I might need it.
    I do still use Soothe a ton though for all sorts of stuff, love them both. This might only be an issue in Logic, but sometimes it looks like there's lag/latency when side chaining with Soothe. Like, Soothe will duck the frequency but I'm constantly skeptical that it's a few milliseconds too late and overall just not ducking when the transient *actually* hits, if that makes sense. It's hard to tell though, but side chain latency is a concern with Logic across different web forums. Not sure about other DAWs, kinda curious if anyone else has noticed this or if I'm just being hilariously paranoid.

    Tbh the no side-chaining one sounds a lot better. The sidechained version has all the energy taken away and the snare sounds off.

    • @HieuAnNguyen-qd9oq
      @HieuAnNguyen-qd9oq 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The no side-chain does sound muddy but that's because you didn't EQ your stuff properly. Drums and bass sound fine as is. You just need to clean up your rhythm guitars and everything will sound clearer.

  • @Robbie-uw2mp
    @Robbie-uw2mp 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So if I route my kick track to my bass bus and turn the output down, and I just turn on the sidechain option in soothe2, it will automatically sidechain whatever frequencies I set on the graphic Eq?

    • @StronghandStudios
      @StronghandStudios 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe you need to route to channels 3/4 on the input as 1/2 would be your stereo/monitor out.
      So routing to 3/4 is the default for programs to use as a side chain input.

      It is. It’s much more than just a basic EQ, and really shines when being used like Keyan shows.
      Wait for it go on sale - I get the apprehension, but it’s really a phenomenal tool. They have one or two sales a year, usually Black Friday.

      Trackspacer does a very similar thing in an easier way to set up. It’s not as versatile or intelligent as sooth, but it will get you the same idea as what is being presented for far less coin - for this purpose specifically.

      There's a free plugin called TheMasker that does pretty much the same thing, obviously isn't as feature-rich but it will do the job as far as the sidechaining method goes.

    Soothe2 has soooo much latency or something. If I put it on any of my tracks, the track will instantly be out of sync. Its pretty much un-usable for me.
