- Pet Hunting in oldschool runescape is a completely different way to approach the game. Your focus is not on money or XP, but on pet rolls. Collecting everypet is one of the most time consuming grinds in the game. So far only a handful of people have ever achieved this.
I wanted to take a look a the pet hunting community, to see what exactly it takes to become a pet collector.

Coxie's Funny Feelings series is an amazing example of many of these pet hunting methods, also he's just very entertaining.
Part of the fun of pets isn't the max efficiency stuff, but the balanced methods.
Instead of going for Rocky at stalls, you could go for Rocky Ardy Knight's to 99 or PP post-99 once xp is no longer important. Sepulchre isn't the best pet chance, but it offers a very good pet chance while being the best xp in the game, making it very appealing for people who haven't maxed agi but want good pet chance on the way there (it's also much more profitable, making it appealing to some pet hunters post-99). You could tick manipulate gem rocks for Golem pet, or you could get really good xp rates from a chill method, while still having good pet chance/hr, by doing VM.
I'm a pretty casual pet hunter; I don't enjoy doing super sweaty methods just to max pet chance per hour, but it's nice when you find a fun method that also has a good pet chance.

I don’t think I’ll ever try hunting for all the pets, but I do want a couple. I think the one I want the most is the gauntlet pet. That lil dude is cool as hell

I actually like that the penguin course is the quickest way to obtain the pet. I've always liked this course and this way more people will actually use it :)
only issue is its more click intensive then rooftops
I got my rift guardian around level 30ish runecrafting, super lucky.
On the other hand....I went over 10k KC before I got my mole pet.
Got jad 6 jc and squirrel lvl 16 6th draynor course. Have ran well over 1500hours mining. 108lvl and still no golem.

I got my most recent pet, k'ril at 67 kc. I feel incredibly lucky but there is no way I would have done 5k kc for it. I just happened to be doing some slayer with a friend. I've seen some cursed dry streaks for pets I could never imagine dealing with.

People going for all pets probably get 20 times your kills per hour tbf
you do realize that 5,000 kill isn't a guarantee right? Literally you could easily kill 15,000 + Kril and not get the pet. People take their pets soooo for granted. I'm dry on a few pets myself right now.
@@Vetionarian i got the jad pet at around 45 kc, thats the only one I ever went for. I think its probably one of the faster ones cause you can just sacrifice fire capes for another roll
I got Zilyana pet at 83 kc and just thought there's no way in hell I'd kill 5k.

I am a pet hunter with only 25 pets. The grind is real. Never done any kind of boosting.

The only pet I've ever truly "wanted" was the penance pet as I'm a big Barbarian Assault fan.
When I finally got my new old-school account to a decent level to play BA, I got the pet on my second gamble.
giant squirrel was my first pet, lvl 60ish agility at canifis. and also first pet i lost uninsured :(
now its back yay ty jagex!

Damn I guess I got spooned on the Giant Squirrel, I got it while doing Canifis rooftop course like 35 laps... I kind of assumed pets were pretty easy to get until I realized its the only one I have hahahaha
I've been grinding for the little my Squirrel buddy for some time now. Did over 1,000 laps at penguin course and it broke me from the game for about a month. Mind you I'm level 96 agility.
Got my squirrel on lvl67 agility at the camelot agility course
im at almost 60k total bossing kc's and i only have 10 pets, 8k bandos, 8k thermy, 5k kraken, 7k mole, 4k supreme, 4k prime, im sitting at 7k rex no pet
I'm grinding stalls for the theiving pet right now, but at seed stalls as it's less click intensive and only need 1 alt. If I hit drop rate I have two more alts lined up to go to fish stalls.

i played rs since 05 and thats the first time ive ever seen the penguin agility course lol
I've leveld like this since the start, I trained combat stats on bosses such as strength at mole and make sure that whatever skill I train is done by the best method to get a pet drop. I also never kill a boss again if it drops the pet, I'm honestly surprised this isn't a more common way to play the game.
most ppl don't really care about the pet considering how unlikely they are to get.
Got my zalcano pet at 43 kc. First real pet. I was so excited.
I got 10 pets now. Corp pet yesterday at 1161 . And kril pet at 12kc 30 days ago. Olmlet pet on my 2nd purple. I got some good ones. Squirrel at 85 agility seers.

Got my thieving pet at Ardy knights at level 64 after about 90 minutes of being there
I've been pretty lucky with pets, I got jad on 5 KC, kalphite queen on sub 100 KC and Kraken at around 300kc. I've got the heron at 48 fishing too
I've got 2 tangle root at 97 farming. I feel lucky
I’ve only been luck with the Olmert, 3 in roughly 50 purple chest
I have 10 bossing pets. No Skilling ones despite 90s and a few 99s. Pets are only of the craziest achievements since the only way to get them is to do the work.
Think im gonna play some OSRS again and go for a pet, since i took a break after not being able to find anything i wanted to do at the time :)
literally all I do on runescape is burn GP while pet hunting.
That hit of dopamine when you get a pet, right before you put it in your bank forever, is unparalleled.
recently finished my most long term goal to date, FINALLY got my tangleroot the other day at 43m farming exp.
I have 17 pets all happily spoonfed makes me wonder if I should catch them all ;) nah there is some bosses I can not stand doing haha also just going for pets I genuinely want, got bloodhound and all wildy pets so I'm stoked

@@Onoesmahpie I have 21 now so since this post I’ve only received another handful and I’ve been playing the same amount roughly.. not sure really goes in waves but I do play every day for sure. The addiction is strong, instead of Netflix or something to fill the void I play osrs you know? When I’m not riding my bmx or doing fun shit, it’s the perfect therapy game
@@samonsounds ive been trying for vorki, i only have tangleroot and phoenix, i got tangleroot at like 74 farming and phoenix at 21 KC so I can't imagine having that many, but I definitely want to. Did you get most of yours from bossing?

Some of these rs service runners are just insane. You can pay like $15.00 USD for someone to run pest control for you and get you an entire void set; $15.00 is nothing compared to all that time required!
Id assume a bot does most of it.

I'm pretty sure Draynor stalls is BIS for Rocky pet unless something has changed? There's 3-4 stalls there, same method alts trapping/splashing guards.
relleka has 6 stalls so you get more rolls per hour
Have 3 pets: 2xTangleroots, Rocky & beaver
Got them on 94,96 farming and 67 both woodcutting and thieving. First tanglefoot was from hardwood tree on level up to 94, the second was hespori kill. Beaver was yew tree. Rocky was ardy knight

got herron 1/3kc at fishing trawler, got mining pet 89 mining all mlm then last skilling pet was beever 97 at red woods
I'm one myself. Not extreme. Currently working on maxing an alt acc in NMZ to help. 20 pets atm.
I gave up on pets when I accidentally lost my tree cutting pets literally right after I got it
I got my first ever let recently, im fairly new just recently got a quest cape about 2 months ago and got the toa pet at 40kc doing 150’s. No purples yet but i got the pet 🤷♂️ 😂

I have 43 pets myself. I have never boosted but I do have BA and corp left. I, like anyone who has that many pets, get a lot of GP from the grind. I havent tried boosting corp but am over 7k kc there, so I might try out the minimum buy limit. Seems like its a lot cheaper to boost BA but If i boosted others I could make a ton to pay to boost corp or just keep the money I guess.
I only really play my account, when im not on my account but playing i feel like im wasting progress. Pets drops are just a fun grind for that sweet dopamine rush when you get one.....

I have been remarkably lucky so far with pets. I got KBD pet at 639 kills. I got Chaos Elemental pet at 6 Chaos Fanatic kills. And I got Tangleroot at 92 farming doing redwood tree
How can you get 6 kills per hour soloing corp? At best I can consistently get 4.5 kills

You mentioned the agility pet and I was like "eh, that's quick as heck" turns out, i just got lucky....I got mine when I was level 23 in al karid...
i got the mining pet in 1 hour when i was grinding for 68 mining, so i guess im pretty lucky lol
I’ve seen on Reddit someone had 200 Mill exp on Farming and still didn’t get the pet… makes me scared wasting a lot of time hunting for pets

I got a penance queen on my 3rd high gamble on my ironman at level ~80. Was getting a fighting torso and decided to get enough extra points for 3 high gambles, little did I know I would get that ugly lil thing
I got tangleroot not even knowing pets were in the game at 45 farming when i restarted playing after many years break. I love the hate i get for having him although its costs me millions in insurance getting him back.

If you have Fremmenik hard diary completed then you have indeed stolen from a fish stall.
Pet hunter here with 19 pets, all of them spooned, some disgustingly. I'm currently 5k without vorkath pet tho
I was legit watching B0aty's stream earlier and he made a joke about some guy thieving from the stalls in Relekka, now I see why he was doing it.
Why did you have to do thieving first.... only reminding me that I'm a few hundred hours into grinding to get rocky 😶
