It can also be seen in areas like 2:46:39 where the textures are broken and banding, and it's super noticeable. A lot of this might have been fixed by just lightening up some of these textures, and making them a bit more basic.
There are too many small, sharper textures that don't flow into themselves smoothly, leading to an aggressive tiling effect that strains the eyes. These textures also contrast heavily with the larger, blurrier textures that they are often placed right next to. Then you have a lot of objects using the same tiled textures as each other which becomes especially bad in cluttered interiors. And there's also no real shading on anything to simulate light and shadows, which makes stuff like roofs, archways, and basically any polygon that has the same texture on multiple faces look really bad.
Just a warning to everybody, in the graveyard after you get to the end and hit the 4 switches, dont let the gibdo kill you or it won't respond and you can't get the goron bracelet so you'll have to restart your game

I think they look about the same as the vanilla textures, even better in most cases. The unique mini-boss I came up with for the Agility Temple is the Skull Crew, a band of four Skull Kids. The boss room is made up of 25 small platforms over an abyss, connected via balance beams. The Skull Crew nimbly runs and leaps around the platforms, but Link can use either arrows or Deku Nuts to stun them. While they're stunned on a platform, Link must play the Song of Time to make Time Blocks appear over those platforms, trapping them. 1:32:00 Awe, poor Mido! 1:42:50 XD I love the distracting Keese in the archery game! 1:51:40 Those walls and brambles are from Banjo-Kazooie! 5:47:00 The Patrick's Manor boss is Patricia the Ogre, a giant ogre resembling the lady portrait from the one room. She chases Link and raises both fists in attempt to smash the hero, but Link, with Silver Gauntlets, can pick up the gray boulders around the room and throw them to topple the giant. Afterwards, he can deal a sword combo to her head! The Fire Temple boss is King Moe, a larger Moblin with stone armor and spiked shoulder blades. King Moe stomps after Link and tries to thrust his giant spear into him. After a few attempts, his spear will be stuck in the ground. While he tries to pull it out, Link must place a bomb by his stone boots, causing him to topple. Link can then strike him in the head. If Link has Nayru's Love, the barrier will instantly cause Moe to topple when he stabs it, but the barrier will break instantly.
Moblin Trail honestly has some of the funniest music I've ever come across. (& tbh, besides the really ridiculous parts, I also sorta liked it. But at the same time, my god...) The comment calling it its own doppler effect was particularly great
Hey yo in the Abello's castle, if you walk up the stairs to the top next to the library, look up at the ceiling. Right in the middle is a well hidden hookshot point. You have to be standing in the right spot at the top of the stairs to see it. As for what's in there, you'll just have to see for yourself..
ZFG is one of the few channels on youtube that must have the highest view%, like. This guy consistently gets his audience engaged in watching multi-hour videos like this, and we eat it up! This is fun to watch, but its so annoying to see chat hate on the textures. I've never played a romhack, never really knew much about them until this year. I am impressed with how much time this must've taken and how unique and creative it is, being a free passion project and all. OOT looks great, and makes me wonder if all the people hating on textures are either really young and were born after the N64 cycle, or are just nitpicky. I think they look great given the limitations of the N64 engine. I'm no graphic designer, but I think it fits the theme the game is going for, which seems to be a more darker tone. That's just me, chat just annoying in this romhack though.
OK. I don't have a gaming pc, I just have your general, average one. Folks, I have no experience of hacks and roms and whatnot but Ocarina of Time was my favourite game as a kid so to see more yet completely new content of it has excited me immensely. Could someone please tell me what it would take as someone without experience or specific equipment to get this up and running for myself? I hope this isn't just some special release for speedrunners or something. Hugely appreciate any input anyone may be able to offer :) P.s. loved ZFGs randomizer and the chat that go along for the whole ride, you lot are all so wholesome to watch interacting with him as he tries to remember what paths are where. Seem such a cool little community, cheers to you all.
This is a really cool romhack. Only problem is no bosses, but they replaced that with some pretty interesting encounters. If there was bosses and an antagonist you fight at the end this would be like a legit game. I don't like people complaining about the textures. Whoever made this put A LOT of work into it
The level design is very very smart and interesting. Still, there’s something about this ROM hack that feels off to me. It’s very crude. Lots of inconsistencies. The imported music, textures, writing, all unrefined. That’s what makes the difference between edginess and darkness. I should appreciate it, but I can’t take it seriously.
@@samyatang I mean, it's not the English that's a problem. It's how edgy the hack tries to be, like... cows and gorons hanging from meat hooks? Kill Patrick? Like it reminds me more of something from the Happy Tree Friends era of the internet than anything else: it's so absurd it kinda forgets it's a Zelda game.
@@BlueBladeofFate Well, that's the beauty of this hack and what makes it stands out. it isn't your typical kiddy zelda adventure that has been told over and over again, it's different, made in the vision of creator unstead of what everyone expects from a zelda game and rather you think that's a bad thing is your opinion. I love it for being different. makes the game more interesting atlease for me
The lack of contrast and clarity on the textures is worse. If you change a color image to black and white, it should still have clear contrast levels. This doesnt. Climbable ivy should stand out from the rest of the wall and what's with all these narrow ledges agaisnt a wall with the same color as said wall?
@@realgamer3948 Never said it wasn't interesting or that it's wholly bad. In fact I'm eager to see what the hell else ZFG will encounter. Just that it could be much more well made edginess. As it is, it's just kinda dumb.
Take the soundtrack from “Master of Time”, the Item Design from “Indigo”, the storyline from “Nimpize Adventure”, and the Dungeon Design from “The Sealed Palace” with the polished graphics of “The Missing Link” and you get a game that imo would contest even TOTK.

I wonder if in the next 3-5 years (or more like 5-7 years since this is from 2020 and this comment was made in 2022) we get a flood of OoT hacks like there are so many Super Mario World hacks or at least a decent variety like with Zelda classic.
You should check out Project Indigo. He's doing some really cool things. It's still in development but it's gonna be pretty cool once it's done.
@@vindrmasuta Oh? Maybe I should put a mark on it then. Although first, I would need to find out which Project Indigo your talking about. A quick search gave me plenty of various hits.
@@DarknessGuard Kentonm is the one working on it. He does livestreams occasionally.
took me a bit to remember that skies of arcadia dungeon theme such a good game
(3 hour mark)
2:10:58 rewatching this 2 years later, I realized how I correctly guessed an ending LUL
Yasssss I love it when zfg uploads some romhack gameplay
Music in Patricks’s Manor @2:55:00 is from my favorite RPG of all time, Skies of Arcadia. This music plays at Shrine Island.
What's so good about Skies of Arcadia?
@@PieInTheSky9 The story, the music, the gameplay, the game world, the lore. To be fair, the graphics could be better, but it did come out on the Dreamcast so what can you do.
This rom hack hurts my brain but I can’t stop watching lol
All the textures in the inn are so busy and theres no thematic consonance going on!
im here to understand the time lost sequel
The Patrick's Manor boss is Patricia the Ogre, a giant ogre resembling the lady portrait from the one room.
But at the same time, my god...)
The comment calling it its own doppler effect was particularly great
Hey yo in the Abello's castle, if you walk up the stairs to the top next to the library, look up at the ceiling.
Even channels like Critical Role must have huge view time ratios and stats, but ZFG’s whole platform is made for sweaty Hundo-Maniacs.
33:04 Song is "Long Lost to where no pathway goes" - Summoning
That moment 6 hours in when zfg died and came back all serious to kick ass and take names
It looks like the visual bug is due to weather change right before exiting an area. Like leaving kakariko right after passing the gate as adult will lead to the same type of bug as it starts to rain.
Looking forward to the day there will be OoT 3D hacks out there.
Dude, I know. OoT 3D has so many more things that they can use too.
Ok zoomer
queue what
are you just gonna try to insult everyone with “ok zoomer”
@@bananasfanana4065 oot3d sucks lol
Thanks for giving me 7 hours of entertainment
Hugely appreciate any input anyone may be able to offer :)
P.s. loved ZFGs randomizer and the chat that go along for the whole ride, you lot are all so wholesome to watch interacting with him as he tries to remember what paths are where. Seem such a cool little community, cheers to you all.
Zfg i swear has the best chat
The master of disguise watching the master of zelda play as the master of time wjo wields the master sword and learns the master song.
2:45:40 Why are all the songs in this romhack just the same damn sequence of note inputs?
The Legend of Patrick, a Link to the night
4:44:40 LEGENDARY SOUNDTRACK
This is a really cool romhack. Only problem is no bosses, but they replaced that with some pretty interesting encounters. If there was bosses and an antagonist you fight at the end this would be like a legit game.
I don't like people complaining about the textures. Whoever made this put A LOT of work into it
This hack is amazing, the theme is very consistent, and the textures are okay. Fuck the haters.
The visual design and the writing are simply too blunt to actually be edgy.
@@VanymStormIt's like pizza cutter; all edge, no point
I always find these mods to have such crappy stories. I suppose writing isn't a top priority but some of the dialogue is painfully bad.
The person who wrote the script for this game isn’t a native English speaker.
As it is, it's just kinda dumb.
love how he looks at a second chicken and completely ignores it
Take the soundtrack from “Master of Time”, the Item Design from “Indigo”, the storyline from “Nimpize Adventure”, and the Dungeon Design from “The Sealed Palace” with the polished graphics of “The Missing Link” and you get a game that imo would contest even TOTK.
Gotta say, I greatly prefer the chat being in the side area to the left than in the lower right corner.
Also, watching you play this romhacks almost makes me want to make one of my own!
Plz do!! But plz look at dark Hyrule fantasy before u do! ;D
Im glad your doing the rom hack kuz I wont watch nobody elses
1:50:57 "This guy is starting to break my balls"
@7:35 the shop song is from Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos.
LOL that shopkeeper even looks like Victor:

1:20:30 thinkin bout how link grabs the ladder and yeets himself 15 ft (4.6m) into the air
4:42:00 is this bombtrack by rage against the machine?

bruh, first it was Missing Link, now this?
i just finished MM like an hour ago
The music in the Moblin area actually killed me; holy hell that track was hilarious
I'm loving these fan made games had no idea they existed.
@2:03:50 That music sounds quite similar to the music played at Mayor's House Council Room in Majora's Mask. Maybe it's that midi file but edited or something.
11:33 - the music sounds exactly like music from Ecuador
Watching this man run into those boulders over, and over, and over again and not use Naru's love more than a handful of times was honestly very frustrating.
