    Hermetic text are sometimes very gnostic and world hating, and sometimes it is the complete opposites and world loving. Hermetic texts are full of contradictions which makes it hard to interpret sometimes.

    • @SymbolSage
      @SymbolSage  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That's quite insightful. I think it's partly because of how broad it is and the number of different traditions that it draws from, which can cause contradictions in the writings. It's also what makes it so complex and interesting to study.

      Prof wouter Hangraff who is a prof of Histrory and Hermetic Philosophy states that . The hermetic believes in creating the devine from the physical world whilst the Gnostic regects all things physical.
      I beleive people could get confused when reading litrature such as The Hermetic order of the Golden Dawn OTO Thelema or Theosophy which combines both Philosophy's such as stoicism Qabalah vajrayana Buddhism which seems contradictive.

      @@QvodInferivs The Hermetics see the universe as a beautiful creation made in the image of god, whereas Gnostics see it as a flawed creation that they are a prison in. But sometimes we see this world hating aspect show up in hermetic texts, hence the confusion.

    The Kyballion was written by a lawyer from Pennsylvania, William W Atkinson. Not three initiates.
    Real Hermetica: The Corpus Hermeticum, The Asclepius, The Stobean Fragments, The Nag Hammadi Hermetica, The Emerald Tablet of Hermes, The Pupil of the Cosmos...we also have so many fragments of authentic Hermetica from ancient writers like Iamblichus and even Church Fathers
    Why even discuss the Kyballion? So much in the real texts to discover

      I can see where Hermeticism could be a key aspect of the pursuit of knowledge among secret societies, but these societies also promote tremendous pride in their knowledge and are very selfish with that knowledge. That rules out the hermetic nature of the societies. True Hermeticism must include humility and generosity.

    I have been studying Hermeticism for nearly 25 years... and I need at least three more lifetimes to understand it. Western mysteries are beautiful things, they're deeply complex and rich. Modern day practitioners have lifetimes to explore the Great Work. I feel so blessed to have known about these practices since very young.

    I ain't joinin any cults. But. Where do I "learn" hermeticism? I've been aware of it for quite some time now, but recently... recently I have (maybe 2-3 years) been trying to really assemble my own belief system per se as to how I personally see the world and cosmos working together. I came to stumble on hermetisicm. As a history geek Hermes Trigsmagistus came up and watched a video on him and thought, what really is hermeticism? I've come to find that my old beliefs were coming back and seemed a little refined and with knew information. But I found it strange how Hermetisicm either had the same philosophy or a new one seemed uncannily compatible. I wish to actually learn more, like practices and "rituals" to connect or ground with the universe. Ive practiced astral projection(succeeded 2x, 1 on purpose, 1 on accident) lucid dreaming(can't control it, it just happens and rarely). Ive always believed that the atoms in me could potentially communicate or at least effect neighboring atoms, creating a butterfly effect to potential fruition. I dont know. Its too long now. I just need an actual person i guess. Later.

      @jeremiekonegni4957 That's good to hear although I hear (I'm new so don't take my word) the kybalion was written way after the corpus hermetica and is not hermeticism. • @SymbolSage
      @SymbolSage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Andre, appreciate you taking the time to comment! You're totally right that the Kybalion (1908) isn't an original Hermetic text and differs from the more ancient works like the Corpus Hermeticum and the Perfect Discourse. In the video, we wanted to explore both the roots of Hermeticism and its more modern interpretations. The Kybalion’s definitely more of a modern take, and it doesn’t align perfectly with the older writings. Thanks for pointing that out!
