This is a vary well done, fair-handed and honest take on the legitimacy and merits of the Kybalion. I don't see why people must smugly hate on it.. the book DOES point out some legitimate observations about the nature of the All and the universe. It may not be as ancient as it claims - but that doesn't render the information useless! To the contrary, this book has been quite enlightening to many occultist including myself!
I agree. This book serves as some sort of a bridge. There is a gap between the way we think today and the way we thought only 100 years ago. Something must serve as a small bridge for those of us who are going to go back to explore ancient wisdom. For instance, while being taught at my mystery school, we were given the Kybalion to read as a supplemental read before moving onward in our training concerning mental activities both the conscious and subconscious mental activities. If nothing else, for me, it prepared me for the true teachings of Hermeticism. My generation was so incredibly dumbed down that this small book indeed helped but was not the end all, be all. It does not have that capacity. Everyone should read it. It's a nice little read if nothing else.
You barely scratched the surface of what this book can teach about the mental/spiritual world, as they are one in the same. It's a mental/spiritual Swiss Army knife, meant to give you the tools to understand all and All or at least make you think about life in a deeper manner, for instance, 'As above, so below', it talks about how the All constructs the cosmos mentally much like how you construct a story with worlds in your mind mentally, an author creating an author, "The universe is mental, held in the mind of the All" is a very important axiom. Look at 'as above, so below' again, if we have a conscious and subconscious, does that apply to the All? Yes, Law of Correspondence allows it, one way I've pondered, Mother nature makes the decisions on life, so that could be considered not only the conscious manifestation but the feminine manifestation and females are known for making important decisions like the picking of an apple by Eve. Matter or the elements do nothing but amass, just being there, idle until something is done with it, and it does so by willing Mother Nature to create with it following the rules of elemental covalent bonds, so the conscious and masculine manifestation is an atom, or Adam. The book didn't apply it like this as an example, I thought this up going on a late night walk with a couple j's and it kind of made me wonder if this is what some of the stories in the Bible are trying to say. But it can be argued about all day and night whether this text is hermetic or not, but at the end of the day it does one important thing, puts the All back on the throne, infinite and defined properly, it helps you understand the creator and your reality you're created in so you can live a content life. So it's really a mental Swiss Army knife to help answer questions about life and mind, and in the mental world of survival these tools are very valuable, way more than the Emerald tablets if you can truly understand the Kybalion. Oh the book doesn't say this too, but again a walk and three J's: Mentalism = The Mind Correspondence = The Pineal Gland Vibration = The Vocal cords Polarity = The Arms Rhythm= The Heart Cause and Effect = The Digestive Tract Gender = Private Parts You are Manifested Laws, The Kybalion and us are similar in nature, different in degrees.
This is a very strong and satisfying defence on the behalf of the Kybalion. Also, great connection between the Laws and the body - that has never occurred to me but you're right!
Have you not read “the Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Alantean” written by Hermes Trismegistus, in which all seven elements including vibration are written. To claim vibration is not an original hermetic concept is simply ignorant.
WHO AND/OR WHAT AM I? DO 'I' EVEN EXIST? Consider the following: a. I am a human as defined by humans. b. I am an energy based quarkelectronian as modern science claims that all matter is made up of quarks, electrons and interacting energy and I am made up of matter and interacting energy. c. I am a being of 'light', 'if' my current theory of everything is correct whereby the 'gem' photon is the energy unit of this universe that makes up everything in this universe, including space, time and numbers. (Currently dependent upon the results of my gravity test). d. "I" do not even actually exist but eternally existent space time exists as me, currently in the forms as above. * I exist and yet "I" simultaneously do not exist, dependent upon perspective. But yet, do "I" not truly exist in absolute truth reality as only eternally existent space time exists as all things in absolute truth reality? * "I" can mentally change between perspectives thereby experiencing existence from those various perspectives. "My" mind continues to expand, but is it truly 'my' mind that is expanding or is it eternally existent space time's mind that is expanding? In absolute truth reality, it would seem to be the later. * 'To Be or Not To Be'. I am both, 'I Am and I Am Not.' But I Am Not it appears more than I Am. * Consider also: If asked the general question, 'What do you know?'. My current answer would be, 'Not much compared to all that can be known.' (I Am Not, More than I Am). It's humbling. * Is it truly any wonder that the flow of energy in the universe affects species? We are the universe experiencing itself. * Question: If 'I' never actually existed in the first place, how could 'I' ever die? * Added Note: Now, 'assuming' the above is correct, that 'I' do not even actually exist but that eternally existent energy exists as 'me', and that 'my' consciousness, memories and thoughts are actually the universe acting through the form of 'me': a. I have yet to acquire any 'new' knowledge via this supposed connection that cannot be explained by 'normal' means. (In other words, besides things I learned or intuited). Even my theory of everything and other ideas are due to study and critical thinking. Nor can I magically fluently speak a language that I have not already learned. (In other words, no magical connection with the 'universal consciousness' at this time can be noted). b. I have yet to be able to manipulate reality with my mind alone, my physical body is necessary to manipulate reality. c. While I can imagine being elsewhere in this universe, it does not appear that I can actually take just my mind actually there. (My mind is where my body is). d. Doesn't mean I will stop trying, just have not noticed the above as occurring as of yet.
Beautiful... and to add a little more to your experiment... I have an almost identical list of bullet points written down (obviously not verbatim) but almost in exactly the same order. Also almost entirely intuited or logically deduced from experiential observations.... did my list come from where your list came from? And no I'm not being sarcastic... the more I traverse through this journey, I am at least seeing more and more I'm common amongst humanity then separate, which is never how I viewed the world, and this 'internal coming together' (for want of a better articulation) I feel is becoming more and more acute.... meh.... 4am ramble over. @@RoadandSkyUK Consider also this item from my files: ETERNAL CONSCIOUS EXISTENCE ACHIEVED? Consider the following as well, even utilizing modern science: a. Modern science claims that energy cannot be created nor destroyed (a foundational principal of physics). Hence, energy is either eternally existent, or modern science is wrong. b. Modern science claims that we have new cells that come into existence inside of our body on a daily basis. This appears to be really true. So, since I have a body with energy and cells in it: * A part of me is eternally existent and a part of me is being born anew on a daily basis. * My current body extends from eternity past until now. * Rising to a higher level of thought, the 'now' that I exist in is 'eternal'. * I am currently existing in the 'eternal now'. * I am currently an actual eternally existent conscious entity existing in the eternal now. At least once in my life I reached being an actual eternally existent conscious entity existing in the eternal now. It's just that the current analysis indicates that it will not always be that way. But then again, as I don't know what I don't know, and even what I believe I know to be really true maybe isn't, as well as my mind making up stuff to fill in the gaps of it's perceived existence, along with other items too, I will be the first to admit that I could be wrong. Maybe once attained, I actually have an actual eternal conscious existence in some form throughout all of future eternity. Can I really ever prove to myself that I don't? And also: "IF" my TOE idea is correct, then: * I am currently an actual eternally existent conscious being of light ('gem' photons) existing in an environment entirely made of light ('gem' photons), existing in the eternal now. But then also: "IF" my definitions of Space Time and the TOE idea are correct, then: * Do "I" and all things even actually exist in the first place, OR does ONLY the 'gem' photons exist as all things? How could "I" ever die if "I" never actually existed in the first place but the eternally existent 'gem' photons were existing as "me"? And if the 'gem' photons decided to exist as "me" throughout all of future eternity, whom am "I" to argue with them since "I" don't even actually exist at all in the first place? If the 'gem' photons decided to exist as "me" throughout all of future eternity, they might only have to will it to be so. And note, this would apply to you too. * Added note: One just has to find out how to stay 'life coherent' throughout literally all of future eternity, otherwise, one would eventually de-cohere back from whence one came. One would die and go extinct for all the rest of future eternity. Such it appears is 'life' until life itself is no more. * Alternative: Find a way to keep the energy of our being in a coherent format so as to stay alive in some form to exist throughout all of future eternity, (future eternity being a really, really long time, with literally no end). Plus, one would have to live through many, many, many mass extinction events of all kinds. And then also, one would have an ever growing list of long lost loved ones who either could not, or chose not to, stay coherent themselves throughout all of future eternity. So that life itself has continued meaning and purpose to throughout all of future eternity. Otherwise, if no entity exists one day, then all of life itself would all be ultimately meaningless in the grandest scheme of things as no entity would be left to care about anything or anyone literally ever again throughout all the rest of future eternity. It would not even ultimately matter that any of us ever existed in the first place much less how we existed while we existed. Either at least one species survives throughout all of future eternity (if it's even actually possible to literally do), OR none do.
@@RoadandSkyUK Also this item: a. Existence: For without existence there is only non-existence. So existence is necessary. b. Consciousness: Without consciousness to experience existence, what good is existence? (And also memories and thoughts so that an entity can remember what they experienced and have thoughts). So, Consciousness, memories and thoughts are necessary. c. Eternality: If a conscious existence was not truly eternal, it would cease to exist one day. (And forget everything it ever knew and experienced, and would be forgotten one day in future eternity if there weren't another conscious entity with memories and thoughts to remember the previous entity literally throughout the second entities literal eternal existence throughout all the rest of future eternity). So, eternality is necessary. d. Choices: What good even is eternal conscious existence throughout all of future eternity without choices? Not even a choice in what to think about? So, choices are necessary. So, existence, consciousness (with memories and thoughts), eternality, and choices. These items it would seem be necessary for anything at all to matter throughout literally all of future eternity. (Subject to revision as new information might dictate). @@RoadandSkyUK "Thank you for ur thoughts. 🙏🏾" Speaking of 'Thoughts': THOUGHT ABOUT THOUGHTS: Question: Where do thoughts actually come from? An analogy I utilize is to spread a brain out like a map. Brain cells are represented by towns and cities, brain cell interconnections are represented by roads and highways, and the energy signal is represented by a vehicle traveling between one or more towns and/or cities. A coherent thought is a coherent trip. How exactly does the vehicle 'know' where and when to start, what path to take, and where and when to stop to form a single coherent trip? A higher intelligence has to tell it those things. But, that is a coherent 'trip' (thought) in and of itself. So, how exactly does our brain think a thought before it consciously thinks that thought? And if thoughts can be thought without consciously thinking thoughts, then what do we need to consciously think thoughts for? Just to consciously think thoughts that are already thought? What then of 'freewill' if we don't even consciously think our own thoughts? And then to further that situation, modern science claims that many different energy signals are starting at various places in the brain, take various pathways, and stop at different places, just to form a single coherent thought. (With the analogy, many vehicles are starting at various places on the map, taking various routes, and stopping at various places, all together forming a single coherent 'trip'.) Who and/or what is thinking the thoughts before I consciously think those thoughts? Do "I" even have freewill to even think these thoughts "I" am thinking about thoughts and type these thoughts to you here on this internet? Modern science also claims we have at least 3 brains: The early or reptilian brain, the mid brain, and the later more developed brain. So, are early parts of the brain thinking thoughts before the later parts of the brain consciously think those thoughts? If reptiles can think thoughts, then couldn't the early part of our brain think thoughts, and somehow pass those thoughts on to later more developed parts of later brains? Is our 'inner self' really just our reptilian brain thinking the thoughts that we think we are thinking? Are we all just later more evolved reptiles? Who don't even consciously think our own thoughts? If not, then how exactly does the brain think thoughts? Where exactly do thoughts originally come from so our brain can consciously think those thoughts? So "I" am thinking about thoughts, if it is even "I" thinking the thoughts that "I" believe "I" am thinking about thoughts. Or so "I" currently think, here again, if it is even "I" doing the thinking. "My" thinking is imploding as "I" think about thoughts. But then again, is it even 'me' that is imploding? I will have to think about it some more. Poof, I'm gone. Is just energy interacting with itself the lowest form of sub-consciousness? Is it even consciousness itself?
