    If they include vehicle, ship-to-ship (Pirate and Air/Space) combat - that would help, you know, since it was ignored in their competitor's games for those environments in appropriate supplements.

    I agree , the 4e DMG 2 is unquestionably one of the best DM/GM book out there , its a fantastic inspiration booster . Hope KS pick up some of its best aspects for their GMG . The Trial & Treasure from A5e is also an other excellent GM to add to every 5e DM/GM .

      This is a very accurate statement. I learned a ton from running games better from DMG and DMG2.

    I really want to get TOV but I will probably wait until it's release. I missed the first kickstarter and I could pick up the GM's guide but honestly I'm hoping for a bundle or something on the site.

      Yeah I really hope they'll do a three book sleeve thing

    I am happy to see KP take on an important book like this. Helping people DM is such an important resource.

    I'm kind of tired of Kickstarter. There is always something I miss and that's that

      I'm tired of kick starter because I have to wait 3 years to get a book. Real talk, I'm still waiting for 3 different books now.

    I'm sure doom points will be in combat options.
    You can use the alpha book and the number of doom points is equal to the encounter cr.

      I was thinking the same thing. When all three books are out, I will look at them and - if doom points aren’t there - I will homebrew them back in (if appropriate).

    i've no real interest anymore in traditional high or medium fantasy settings like Midgard or Valiant (or D&D), but i love your presentation style, your dedication to research, and your commitment to the hobby. your enthusiasm is very positive and addicting, lol. rock on, man. Mr Tarrasque fo'evah!

    *Gasp* You're a fan of 4e?! I'm requesting that they add you to the next D&D bestiary because you're clearly a MONSTER! (Although, with a name like Mr. Tarrasque, I'm clearly a bit late to that party).
    That said, I do love your reviews, so you're a monster with style

    • @MrTarrasque
      @MrTarrasque  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Haha! Like I said, it has its flaws and strenghts. I had fun with it. Fan is a big word.

      I agree - it absolutely does have its good points! I just can't help myself whenever someone says something even vaguely positive about 4e - the snarky comment is practically a Pavlovian response. Always intended in good humour, though :-D@@MrTarrasque

    5:16 So... they're doing the thing that was in previous editions of D&D, but left out in 5E?
    Thank the Dragon Gods Kobold Press is bringing back Templates...
    Lets hope they do a small expansion on their 2 Armour Class values, so reflect magical effects boosting AC; because that can be handy in Anti-Magic Fields!

    • @MrTarrasque
      @MrTarrasque  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes basically they are.

    Another great video sir. Your CR just keeps going up, lol. The templates are great and needed but I would like to give a shout out to a great book called Forge of Foes which gives you stat blocks for monsters on the fly, abilities, templates, etc. It also has great ideas for boss fights, environmental elements, etc. I highly recommend the book to all DM/GMs. You should do a video on it. Sly Flourish and Teos Abadia wrote the book and they are two of the best people you can find in the industry. I like supporting really good human beings and just like you they are as well.

    One of the biggest flaws of the 5e DMG was lack of tools for the DM (isn’t that what a DMG SHOULD be?). I am glad to see KP take steps to correct this! Seems like Kobold Press likes GM’s!!

    • @MrTarrasque
      @MrTarrasque  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah it's mostly another book telling you how to be a decent human being at a gaming table. We have 100 of those. The 4th edition DMG had a lot of tools, and a example adventure in the back!

  • @RPG_Bliss

    Now I have to go find a 4th Ed DMG 😅

    Okay ... I'll bite. I want to hear what is in the 4e DM Guide that gives it a high rating on your list. I'm not familiar with 4e DMG but I my shelf has many DM/GM resources and I was thinking about which I have drawn the most value from.
    I'm excited for the ToV GMG, I always get a ton of inspiration and tips from Kobold Press' material that I apply across various game systems.

    • @MrTarrasque

      I might have to do a video then

      I will watch that video. If it's like most of your videos I'll probably also be nodding my head saying "that makes sense and I agree."@@MrTarrasque

    I bought and like a lot of Kobold Press stuff recently. Not to a small part because of your recommendations. But do we really need a new_ish game system based on the DnD commons foundation of 5th Edition and is just a modification of the systems reference document?

    • @MrTarrasque
      @MrTarrasque  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's not the game we need, it's the game we deserve....

      I like the modularity of 5e. It works good as a foundation to build houserules onto it. If you are an old 3.5/pathfinder 1e dm you should already have a lot of ideas for tweaks. I would say start simple and introduce more crunch to your players as you go. It will give them new toys to play with while not overwhelming them with having to read 30 supplement books to see all the options. Instead tailor the options available to each player and make it feel meaningful to them personally

  • @Venzynt

    I'm so tired of rpg funding now lol. Could a book just release and then I buy? That would be great.

    • @MrTarrasque
      @MrTarrasque  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it can, all you need to do is not back it and wait for it to release so you can buy it.
