I am very sorry about that experience. Thank u for sharing tips on how to handle volatile situation and thank u for the kind narrative on Africa because we r used to being bashed by the whole world always. Your narrative is like a breath of fresh air indeed 💖
How has this channel only got 17k subscribers? The Production values are so good, and as someone who has spent a lot of time in East Africa really put you there ! Well done 👏
That’s so nice to read!! We hope that we’ll get more subscribers soon! We really appreciate your comment. Make sure you share our videos with your friends and family ☺️🙌
My wife and I spent part of our Honeymoon in Uganda in 2009, lovely country, fantastic people. The rafting was outstanding at Jinja, although it’s all moved a bit since they built a dam up river, glad to see there is still rafting as at the time they were all worried the dam would kill it completely.
I am absolutely hooked on your Africa videos, such beautiful scenery and great descriptions of what we are seeing. Well done in defusing a very tense situation Harry, and Chloe summed up very diplomatically how dealing with officialdom can be on the continent. I've worked in several countries there, and you can feel very intimidated. Recording and editing videos must really really be very time consuming and add lots of extra time to the trips. Keep them coming.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your adventure! My country Uganda is sure very friendly and nice. Of course it helps to stay alert about your surroundings. Did you know, that the street rolex tastes waaaayy better than the hotel rolex? Yeah! Good tidings as you go through the rest of Uganda. Much love ❤❤❤❤❤❤ 🇺🇬 🇺🇬 🇺🇬 🇺🇬 🇺🇬 🇺🇬 🇺🇬
Thank you for your comment. We love Uganda so much, the people, the landscape, the Rolex’s 😂 We agree, we have been eating a lot of Rolex! We love them ☺️🙌
Jeez that’s a scary situation guys. Well done Harry for handling it in a chilled polite manner. Good to see you ok but just be careful at least you can chalk it up to experience. Stay safe 🤘🏻
Guys stuff happens anywhere. Yes you can have guides etc but you did exactly the right thing. I am so impressed with how you guys have dealt with things. Ignore the BS of other comments. x
I lived and worked in west Africa for several years. It was quite the experience for sure. The people in general were warm and welcoming. But the authorities… that’s were you’ve got to have your head on a swivel. The police in most of these countries is were the real trouble is. A survival tip I learned was to always carry ice cold Fanta or Coke in the vehicle. And a few emergency bottles of beer. If you hit a check point with police wanting to shake you down, a cold soda will usually make them go away. If not… free beer certainly will.
As Ugandan i really feel good that you got the real picture of the country. Uganda they dot show on TV is actually the best one with its People. But am sorry for the Hooligans you found along the Sugarcane plantation. They dot represent Uganda. We are good People
It’s all good, these guys were likely just drunk and saw an opportunity to ask for things. We know that Ugandan people are amazing and we love this country so much!☺️
I live in UK but was born in UG Funny enough I've travelled to more places in UK than in Uganda. Wishing you the best of luck and I'm sure you will have a very good time in western Uganda
The raft trip looked like a lot of fun!🛶 Harry, your negotiation skills are legendary! I probably would have gone into panic mode, and ran over somebody.😱 I should bring you along, next time I buy a car! Lol
Love the way Harry managed the situation and got his way out of it. You are wonderful people and will always get out of any situation. Take care, we love you!
Great watching you traverse the East African mother land(s) on your Landy expedition although I could help but felt that you over-edited your safari and in the process missed out so many golden “nuggets”. That said, so enjoyable to watch and looking out for more👍🏾👍🏾
Sorry for what happened to you guys,I think those sugarcane cutters were under the influence of alcohol!as a Ugandan who has travelled to Jinja several times I have found basoga people as the most friendly people in East Africa
You are so right about the way you handled the problem . We have found that that way of treating them rather then showing fear works the best . They say a smile and friendly wave works the best . It’s hard not to smile back and be mean when some one’s being friendly . And what a beautiful area the raft ride looked amazing , and Harry’s slide was awesome looking fun . Thanks again for sharing your wonderful journey and memories with us all your over landing friends . Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. 🌍🍻👍🏼😁
Problems you encounter and the way you deal with them - like the boys in this vid, border crossings, corruption etc are the most interesting elements of this type of travel video. Everyone says how great everywhere is but it’s the other side of things that travellers like us want information in. Well done both of you. Are you going into DRC?
We are glad you enjoyed hearing about this situation. Don’t get us wrong, this situation could have turned bad but it’s also important not to assume people are all bad. The world is full of wonderful people and 99.9% of our interactions have been amazing. Of course, it’s good to share it all with people ☺️ We aren’t 100% sure if we will go to the DRC yet.
@@TheLandyExpedition I would advise you be careful with DRC, it is pretty intense politically there... It is a beautiful place to be honest, but the authorities may not be so welcoming to you guys... Please pause that plan for now. Justfor now
Great skills there at the end dealing with the road block. 1. Rule one respect 2. Don’t travel in the dark if you can. 3. Take Harry with you 😜he knows how to tune them🤣
That’s so interesting! Thank you for sharing that with us, it was such a special moment. Our interactions were limited due to the language barrier but we tried some Swahili and the kids could speak some English. ☺️
as a Ugandan, I feel so sorry that you encountered such scary people who did not think of you were to perceive the situation even if they might have not meant any harm, so sorry guys,
PR type explanations about insecurity don't help anybody. I hope you will contrast this experience with Rwanda (if it's in your trip plan). Uganda, Tanzania & Kenya are extremely unsafe countries to travel after dark. NGO's & military M.O. is 6am-6pm - why take the risk?

Excellent way of handling a potential explosive situation, hats off to you Harry!
Thank you so much, means a lot ☺️
Uganda is usually underated and skipped.
It's good you are curious enough to explore beyond aggressive adverts.
We love Uganda ☺️
Happy that Harry handled it right as we know to much drink can change a person.

That’s right, things happen everywhere. This situation had the potential to turn ugly but it didn’t. We don’t feel it’s necessary to have a guide ☺️

Very insightful video. In addition, your whole video production keeps improving. 👍🏻

The little kid saying "iyamunee" is asking how are you. It is in Sebei language. It is similar to Kalenjin in Kenya. Am Joshua from Epsom Surrey.
