    I've had a severe dissociative disorder as part of complex PTSD for over 20 years. To date, I've done 55 floats in the last 5 months. This is the only treatment which has made any difference at all to my condition - and I've tried everything, including ECT, TMS and ketamine. My suicidal thoughts and urges are under some control for the first time in over 5 years.

    First float yesterday..light out. It was as if myself was waiting for me to finally settle down so that it could tell me some really special loving things about me. Things I don't hear from anyone else. I think I am my own soulmate🤣🤣

    Vertical float tanks are the future. Less sounds. No more salt/water in your ears. Easier to breathe. Better for your spine. Better for meditation.

      Did you know the first float tanks were vertical? We're interested to read some research or see some vertical tanks, if you'd like to share?

      @@Floatconference I know, but those weren't practical and you had to wear a helmet. This is the only one I know of: th-cam.com/video/OHFT5XrLJUY/w-d-xo.html
      You can contact Functional Patterns and see if you can collaborate to make vertical floating more accessible.

      We're so sorry to hear that. We find that the first time trying floating won't always be the best experience. We encourage you to try again! Once you get used to being in total silence and floating in the water, it can be easier to really settle into the experience.
      We also encourage you to talk to the people at the float center! They can give you tips and tricks and help make the experience the best it can be.

    I agree! The first thing that came to mind when I heard sensory deprivation was the video on Genie Wiley. I then had to rethink the entire thing to make me consider booking an appointment.

      Honesty after looking more into it I have come to think that this idea is great. I have still yet to try it, but Im imaging myself floating in a pool and Im wanting to feel the difference of floating in this pod. I 100% agree that it would have been more benefical if the creators would have put more thought into the description. I can definitely see myself doing this type of therapy.

    • @millionaire5923
      @millionaire5923 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can even choose to do it with another person.

    • @millionaire5923
      @millionaire5923 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You really just have to appreciate the time you spend creating your peace within yourself, and I can see how this therapy can help with that.
      I for one love being around myself through anything I encounter in life, which makes me want to be around others just as much. It makes me want to appreciate others because I know how people can help me grow as a person. I have never tried this therapy, but I am already a firm believer in it. I think this could help people be comfortable with themselves and learn self- love.

    • @millionaire5923
      @millionaire5923 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely look into information as to why you shouldn't go into the pod because I guess if you have certain problems in your body this can possibly cause an adverse or tragic result on your experience.

    Loving this talk. Would you say that, anxiety sensations are very similar to emotions that create pain in the body? E.g you have a certain emotion then Sciatica nerve burns.

    • @Floatconference
      @Floatconference  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sure that some people associate emotions with certain physical feelings. I haven't seen any studies about this though. Something to look into!

    at 28 minutes re: hypo 2 - I disagree that the anxiety-evoking stimuli is heart palpitations etc... that's the effect of something else, which in turn has it's own effect or result (like a panic attack). Some other stimuli causes the fight-flight response, whether the subject is consciously aware of it or not. Particularly for those with CPTSD. If there were a way to introduce memories of that stimuli into the float, similar to EMDR, I wonder how much more effective it would be. Thoughts doctors?

    But how can you actually float? As soon as I feel panic level rising up I start to lose my control to the point I need to “run away”…. Is belly breathing something that can help you stay in the anxious situation?

    • @Floatconference
      @Floatconference  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think each person has to find their way of settling into the float. You have full control over the lights and the door/tank (or you can float in an open pool). And you can always get out if you aren't feeling it. A lot of people using breathing techniques in the tank, and other meditation techniques.

    • @Floatconference
      @Floatconference  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Although soaking in your hot tub or even a bath tub does have lots of great benefits, there are tons of added benefits from floating at a center.
      At a float center, the experience is developed to help you really be alone with yourself.
      - the water and air is kept at a temperature that is close to the same temperature as your skin
      - 1,000lbs of epsom salt is added to the water, allowing you to float on the surface
      - the room or tank is sound proofed and light proofed
      All this breaks down to the removal of as many sensory distractions as possible, really allowing quiet and peace in your mind. The buoyancy of the water allows your body to experience weightlessness, which is amazing for your joints and muscles. And finally, a human should really only be in hot tub temperature water for about 15 minutes before it becomes too much. A float appointment is general 60 or 90 minutes in length.
      I really hope this helps and that you will give floating a try at your local float center.
