  • Golden Retriever Teaches Puppy to use the Stairs
Moki had no idea how to use the stairs, she just kept crying! That was until Kobe came along, once she saw her big brother, it gave her so much confidence. It was a really heartwarming moment 😁

It took three weeks to get my boy up and down the stairs. We adopted him at three months, but knew we had to get it done as soon as possible because he was going to be a big boy who wouldn't be able to be carried for much longer. (He has Doberman and rottweiler in him, as well as other breeds.) I found sitting with him on the steps and guiding him down on a leash helped. He mastered up sooner than he mastered down.

I got a dobie pup in high school. We had a great dane to help him adjust. He tried to do everything she did. She was still young enough to play a little rough, so he turned into a physical beast (30lbs heavier than average and pure muscle). Best dogs I have ever had.

Dogs learn from other dogs. My golden puppy was initially a bit hesitant about going into the water but then not wanting to miss out on his friends fun just rushed in after them. 👍👍🤗

Kobe is such a help BFF. Puppies are funny, Dobermans are the best at smelling bad people. In America it is standard to have the ears cut, and tails docked. (shortened).

Doberman’s tails are incredibly expressive and important for their communication. Their ears are the softest I have ever felt. The fashion of cutting and wiring them in USA needs to stop.

Poor baby! We had a dog once with serious issues with the basement stairs. I don't remember how long it took me to coax him down the stairs. i did put in time sitting next to him, and scooting down, one step at a time. repeatedly.
I think it's a dog thing .He was fine with any of the other stairs in the house.

Collars are bad for the neck if you pull on it regularly. My doberman sustained a neck injury from a collar leash.mHarness is best for dog walking.

So not to be a pill - just giving my real experience- I am not a fan of collars - I find a harness with the latch at the chest the most effective- the collar obviously is at the neck and there is a lot of reasons this isn’t good - the latch at the chest discourages pulling and encourages the proper heel position- ❤

It is not good for big dogs to get up the stairs taht young. Bad for hips on the long term. You can wait for 2-3 more months for safety… (yes I have big dogs)

If the dog is at all food motivated, put a treat on each step. If not, try a toy and/or a leash as others suggest. Build confidence, don't just expect the dog to magically get it. Animals don't _have_ to suffer to learn a new skill. It's not particularly funny to watch a youngster of any species struggle.

Typical dog owner who won't help the dog, in a time of need. It takes another dog to do what wasn't done by the owner.
