How to Get Your Printer Online

In this tutorial we will guide you on how to get your printer online.
Learn how through the Printer tab you can go and check if the printer that you have connected is ready for use or not. This is a fairly easy process.
There may be times when your printer is connected, and it's on, but for some reason when you check the printer status, in the devices and printers window, it appears offline and won't print any documents.
To understand how to check if your printer is online follow the steps given below.
Step 1 -- Select the "see what's printing" option
To resolve this issue, right click on your printer and click on the "see what's printing" option.
Step 2 -- Alter the Printer tab options if needed
As a result, the printer status window will open up. Over here, move to the Printer tab and make sure that the Pause Printing option and the Use Printer Offline option both are unchecked.
Step 3 -- Refresh the window
After that, close the printer status window and refresh the window. Now your printer is online and ready to use.
Step 4 -- Print documents
Now let's hover the cursor over the printer icon, and there you can see that the printer is now online and ready for printing.
Now you can go ahead and print your documents. From this tutorial above you can learn how to get your printer online.

ATTENTION if you have a HP wireless 4500 then your problem might be that your printer is not connected, go to the wrench button, go to wireless menu, then the wireless setup wizard, that was my problem because we had recently changed our router. Hope this works for some of you.

My HP Office Jet 5000 series wouldn't work because I have the printer hooked up to the same network as my computer, but to make it appear online I had to switch my computer network to a different wifi and then it appeared online.

i had the printer "class driver" checked as default and I don't know if this one prints but then I had the printer (both the same pictures but different names) unchecked but BOTH had pending documents. Both were offline. I switched defaults and it seemed to work. I have no idea why there was two ques but there are.

My Printer Offline and Pause where both UNCHECKED. Found out my default printer had changed when my network also changed. So, 1) make sure your on the right network, 2) then see if the printer default has change when the network changed.
i.e. Network 1 is not the same as Network 2

This information is repeated all over the internet, but apparently the REAL trick to getting a balky printer online is some deep, dark state secret that only a select few in authority know....and they're not telling. I have to reinstall the driver every time I want to use my printer.

I have an hp printer that would stay "offline" after getting a new router. what worked for me was to go to the control panel/devices and printers/right click and remove the printer. Up top, click add a printer, select your printer and let it install the drivers. I had previously put the wireless network and password into my printer but was still getting the offline message so that's when I took the above measures and they worked! I hope this helps someone!
