I don't know that these guys really know what their doing...just saying... If these ducklings were raised by a wild mother...you are wrong again...wild duckling get water wicking oils from the mother duck. Regular sugar water is probably better than artificially flavored sodas, thats a new one to me. How about a heat bulb and a shallow dish of regular sugar water.
And what if someone doesn’t have regular sugar water in a critical moment, also they had a heat bulb and shallow dish. Don’t assume the extent of their care was exhibited here.
This was super helpful, thank you! We found a baby duck in our yard last night and were able to bring it inside! It's going to a rehab center this afternoon because we arnt equipped to take care if it long term, but your video helped us quite a bit!
so i only found one duck egg in my back yard. & i haven't found any other eggs. will it be okay alone? bc they are very social animals. im just really worried and i want it to be happy
Yeah it is so hard to keep a baby duckling because we got a big stream out side and ducklings come with mama but sometimes can't get up a hill to are back yard
I found 3 mallard ducklings on the road a week ago, mom was hit by a car. They were a day old and where probably on their way to a water source ... I found this video and it is helpful but i just have to say... The ducklings in the wild folow the mom in to the water when they are a day old so they do get wet but they dry them selves up.. The ducklings start to get feathers after a few weeks of living in water. They love to forage for food in the water so you should always provide them a tub with water plants, small fish and tadpoles since that is what they eat in the wild...
You need some kind of feed, most chick starter is cheap and can be found at various shops. Youll need to do some googling to find locations! Make sure they have liquids also, use a syringe or provide a shallow bowl. Also mealworms is a good substitute but not ideal. Keep me updated, good job!
Sean Hanrahan I had to leave them for work. I left them in the tub with a towel and warm water bottles and a shallow bowl, I put a space heater on low in the bathroom with them to help since the ac is on. I’m hoping someone can come get them today. I’ve read they can eat cottage cheese??
Ok soo I got this little duckling outside. I left him outside to see if he’s mom will come back but she never came. I took him in and I’m thinking of raising him. Idk what to do or feed him! Can you please help
@@Sean_R_Hanrahan We think that it had a heart problem and that is why its parents left him, he recently died but you were very helpful. We gave him the best life he could have. He was unlike any of the other ducks we had, he would randomly fall asleep, he wouldn't eat even if we used a syringe. Thank you
when I was observing a group of baby ducks a while back, they were following their mother around, as they do. Shortly after a group of canada geese came down and started trying to pick them off, the mother managed to defend them except for 1 who got picked off. I ended up jumping into a river of waist deep water and shooing away the geese so I could deliver the duckling back to it's mother, which at the time had ran to a solid 500 yards away at least. I ended up very wet, but I gave the duckling a second chance, and I hope it's still doing okay.
What if I found a duck in the middle of a pandemic and I can’t call rehabilitation center? I have all the supplies to raise ducks, and just got some baby ducks earlier

@@Sean_R_Hanrahan unfortunately they were abandoned mostlikly coz they were sick they passed away in my hands it was hea4t breaking but they are in heaven now
Take it inside. Food water and warmth in a box or something, give it blankets. Call wildlife rehabilitation center in your area. Use google to find one.
starter duck feed, peas, corn, green beans, lima beans, cooked carrots, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, crickets, worms, small feeder fish, grass. They need a variety, do not feed bird seed or bread, grapes etc!
@@Sean_R_Hanrahan I've got a baby wood duck or mallard, not sure, currently been feeding it non medicated chick crumb, but if like to supplement with veggies How small should the pieces be or should it just be mashed? Thanks Awesome video by the way, yours was the first one I watched when I found my baby duck the other day.
Please can someone tell me what i can feed baby duck i found in the street and i don't have money for formula can i feed them human food please please let me know
Seriously? A syringe? Ducks don't nurse. Just dip their beaks in water and keep them warm...like 90° F warm. I've never heard of anyone ever hand feeding ducklings. That's so silly!
If you recognize we were displaying methods applicable for very sickly ducklings, so that if someone may find one in a harsh condition they understood how to administer liquids appropriately. Not that silly, plenty written about it in wildlife rehabilitation.
Thanks man this is really helpful, I found a baby duck on it's own an I'm trying to give it a 2 chance to live. Thanks man I appreciate it
No worries, best of luck!

All you have to do is feed them Purina Duck Pellets and provide water. Ducklings know how to take care of themselves.

Wood ducks eat in water and so do mallards they can get into shallow water/warm

There was no mom I waited for 2 hours
Oh, Sometimes the mother will wander astray from the baby, did you take the time to determine if an adult was present anywhere around the vicinity?

Why liquid with a syringe. Can't we just have them eat duckling starter food?
Yes, this is if you find a duckling in critical condition.
