Thanks for this info! Pretty cool how it ended up at like 4.5 PH and all it took was a sprinkle for the thickening to kick in... I wonder if you could use that to your benefit? Mix it in with an acidic water solution and then neutralize it after its fully wetted out to reduce clumping. Mix first, then thicken or something like that. very cool!
Thankyou this is very helpful. I'm very new to formulating and the product I wish to create most is a light gel moisturiser. To me I like the carbomer better purely for its super smooth consistency because I don't really like the skin feel of xanthan gum.
Thanks for the demo. I am trying to copy a hair gel that has methycellulose and VP/VA copolymer as the main ingredients with a few other things also lower on the list. I really don't like the gums in my hair. They always feel so goey and gummy no matter how little I use. My hair is super fine and thin. This demo was great. I've been looking at the supply stores that sell ingredients. There are so many different polymers, which I think carbomer 940 is one. Why did you choose carbomer and why not try any of the others? I would love it if you did a demo on several different ones.
Thank you @anna burns, i agree with you about the gums. Even with curly hair its not the best feeling..im researching alternatives that are also safe to use on a regular basis. Ill let you know what i come up with. Thanks for watching!
I like Xanthan gum as it's natural. Going to test carbomer too though so I know how it works. I'd like to know if it's less tacky on the skin. Thanks for the ph tip!
I'm not the creator of the video but I do know that xanthan gum is safe to eat. I've used it when I make fruity candy because it gives the candy extra chew. Hope that helps! Also it is sold where I live in our local grocery store for use in gluten free baking.
Here is my problem with carbomer, upon using it the first time the gel is good, however when i use the powder after a week or a month, the powder it produces becomes a grainy gel, why so?
Thanks I needed this video ❤❤❤❤

This is a goodie!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
I allow my carbomer to sit on the water, do not stir!!, Until it's completely hydrated and then blend.
Yea..i learned the hard way.🤦♀️..i prepare mine in advance now to allow it time to sit and hydrate.
How neat! Thanks! 😊🌎✨
how long before it hydrates?

Can we make candy jelly using xanathan gel? Would it be harmful if we ingest it into our stomach? Chennai city, india.

Because it absorbs moisture so needs to be in air tight container my observation
@@prakash1719 i did that, put it in ziplock then shoot inside the plastic container, so maybe i need to use an airtight plastic?
Thanks for the video. How do i thicken up the carbomer mixer if its not thick enough for me
Hi..you would just add more carbomer powder. But add a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency
Add small qty of sodium bicarbonate and stir will be much more or 3 to 4 drops of TEA Triethanolamine
