Sturm, pronounced “shturm”, is “storm” in German.
The candy looks like it has a picture of a wolfberry/goji berry. The actual fruit is loaded with vitamin C.
The FRH says to put use 100 mL of water to activate it.
Gotta love the Russian sugar sachets. 20 grams is five teaspoons- that’s half a can of Coke’s worth of the demon crystal. The 5 g salt sachet is twice the recommended daily intake for a regular diet. Seeing as combat rations are usually anywhere from two to three times the caloric intake of a recommended diet, this is probably fine, as you’ll sweat that much salt out on patrol.
Fresh pâté is always better than canned, but that pashtyet is pretty decent.
The main looks really nice. No potatoes so you don’t get a massive carb load eating it with the galeti.
Russian tea brewed with a samovar is brewed to a really dark liquor and then diluted with water. This is where that 20 g of sugar comes in handy. Tea is also flavoured with lemon and orange and sometimes dried herbs.
This would be a ration I could eat at least once a week over an extended period.

Our military can learn a thing or two ftom the Russians on making good rations.

@@lancerevell5979 We want ours to last longer, and in a wider range of temps. They are using civilian retort pouches that are more mylar than foil. A large part of that ration's "fill" are those crackers and they go stale well before the rest. (that is the case with most Euro rations)
If you have shorter life rations then you have to reduce how much you store for "war stocks" and have manufacturing on tap to produce on short notice. The US keeps a much more active military so its hard to plan for training surges. Or when a REALLY large unit that hasn't deployed as much as expected has a HUGE stock of rations that are all end-date at the same time. (especially units that were deployed in Afghanistan - I guarantee you they didn't "waste" space bringing MREs home)
So when they get home they do a full restock of "new" meals and all their MREs have the same end date. And that is even ignoring the many TYPES of MRE we have to stock. We stock at the UNIT level, not at a depot somewhere. Every unit has a storeroom of MREs. Had a unit that had to discard theirs because of a broken radiator (in Germany with steam heat.) Room was a sauna and nobody knew how long.... so off to the dump they went.
What would be nice is doing something like the Canadians do -- high quality "training" rations. But if we did that.. who would EVER eat the war stock long life stuff. Its like UHT milk.. nobody picks it FIRST, but its good when you need it to be.

Have gotten many of my foreign mres from MRE Mountain. Have to say very good luck with all, shipping is a killer, but sometimes they have a little deal for a free ration with some orders.. Nice little ration and good review.

I bought some stuff from the store in the Netherlands, very happy with the guy I dealt with, he sent me a gift a few weeks later because he didn't have one item when he sent it through the first time, he basically gave me another package worth as much as the original package, it was a great pleasure to deal with them 🙏

I find it funny that so many Americans will not eat liverworts or liver pate but swear by Braunschweiger and the bottom line is they are all the same thing! I was told in culinary school that it is a wording thing ...OK I guess, all the more for me

    Russian letters: штурм becomes SHTURM
SHTURM = "Assault" (translated to English)
These are "Assault' rations... (or, as it reads on the package "combat rations" is a better translation.

I am not a big lamb eater though once n a great while I will have a couple of chops. BUT this meal looks delicious, I can't understand why the Russian troops in Ukraine are complaining about the taste and quality of their MRE's. If they are anywhere close to this it makes no sense. Nathan I think you have met your match in quips now with Phil have a mic. Tea looks like dirty water.....That is funny I will have to use it on my wife who is English and takes her tea very serious. I love people getting a hateboner over someone eating a Russian commercial mre believing that a Russian soldier won't get to eat it. Duh. It's commercial, if he wants one he should buy one. And on the manufacturer's website the price for shturm rations is 380 rubles which is imo too high. I can get an actual military one for 400-500 rubles on avito, and that's 3 meals.

I’ve tried the pâté from other IRP’s I’ve had in the past, never cared for the taste. Since it looks like cat food I tried to give it to my cat, she smelled it and acted like she was trying to put the rug over top of it to bury it. Put it outside for the trash pandas, they wouldn’t even touch it. That pâté is nasty
