The reason you can type better on your laptop, is because you are more used to typing on your laptop, not because the laptop's keyboard is any better. Typing utilises muscle memory, so a sudden change in profile, switch travel etc will mean you will type less accurately. This isn't complicated :) BTW.... the Nuphy Air is not really the kind of board mechanical keyboard enthusiasts would be interested in. It's just a low price crappy wireless toy. I appreciate that rage bait is good for views, but saying one hobby is silly, while having a TH-cam channel that is predominantly about another one basically the same just makes you look rather silly :)

Razer Deathstalker V2 pro is a 10/10 low profile keyboard, but the MacBook scissor switch keys are great and set a point of diminishing returns.

man i got one mech board for myself and i love it-it’s a little fanned out (alice layout) so i dont angle my wrists in a way that can be tiresome with regular keyboards. the keys are very light. lots of key travel, but for the way i type, the really low profile keys actually tire out my fingers
but i could never imagine buying a 100 keyboards. i just want to type more comfortably. but hey whatever to each their own lmao
for gaming some keyboards actually get you an unfair advantage with faster switches and lower latency

I don't see how it is that bad to try out something new in a while to try out something you might like. I could drink out of a plastic cup every day. It has the same functionality as a glass one - it even is lighter! But I think there is nothing wrong with buying one from glass/a nicer material.
You usually can repair these a lot easier and cheaper than normal keyboards.
A lot of it is personal preference and I think the biggest real gain from custom mechs is when you make a split keyboard with your own layers/shortcuts tailored to your workflow. It's also more ergonomic: you don't have to put your hands too close together when touch typing.
I will give you that 1.: it seems like a lot of people spend way too much. I personally was trying something (keyboard wise) new every year or so at worst, because 2.: It's nothing essential. I just thought it was interesting and now I have found a keyboard that I like.

I had exactly the same thoughts when I got my first mechanical keyboard.

That's cute. Guy with a nuphy says that. We don't even consider nuphy as a part of custom keyboard hobby. To us keyboard is an artform that we create ourselves. You like the much lower profile and silent keyboard why you still buy Nuphy with non-silence switches, its weird. Also, you don't want Chinese government to build your fingerprint data.
I mean sadly the perfect keyboard switch doesn't exist yet and likely never will. The magic keyboard has the perfect feeling and travel distance but because it's 125hz and not mechanical it has a non symmetrical actuation point which makes it unusable for gaming.

@@Sharur1 It's called an unprecise keyboard my man. The fact Apple hasn't even gotten to 1000hz yet is insane. 125hz is a key update every 8ms simply not good enough for rhythm games to keep having an accurate input. And again the fact the actuation point is way below the tactile point makes it possible to let go of the key without the tactile feedback, just simple pressure changes of your finger can unpress the key without the key itself being unpressed. Closest switch to fixing this right now is the Cherry MX ULP switch but it has a disgusting metallic sound and still has too much travel distance. You maybe can mod an apple keyboard and insert a new micro controller to get it to 1000hz and then be able to fix the actuation issue by putting a closely matched spring below every key but I wanna see someone doing that first.
If you can type faster on an Apple Magic keyboard it's a good idea to avoid a hobby that doesn't pertain to your skillset.

@@Sharur1 weight/distance is not the bottleneck for finger tapping speed it's opposing/contradictory signalling which is worse on very low distances. but this is completely esoteric and doesn't matter unless you're typing like 230wpm+ you can type on anything it's just a matter of getting used to it.

Custom/Kustom mech is totally different than the normie mechanical keyboard tho. More fun than audio since there are less snake-oils and retired old men in the hobby. Though, all the "good" stuffs are very "limited"(very overpriced aftermarket units as a result), this makes your collection more meaningful and unique.

For me personally i dont belive in dac/amps but i do believe in different sounding headphone. Imo you should go try the aune ar 5000. This made me wow. Soundstage changes depends on how you wear them. For me its like sound coming out of my head and is it sounded very grand. For me personally this kind of blew me away. As i never listen to anything more expensive than the hd600.

When you lubricate and film switches, get nice keycaps... yea it's better than an apple keyboard... way better. Apple keyboard good for people with disabilities who cannot lift fingers. Legit mechanical keyboard... the feel is quite different... if you don't enjoy it that's your own crap preference

Your opinion on IEMs are valid because you have the credentials and the experience to talk about them. In fact, I respect your opinion on a lot of the things you say about that hobby.
