This is one of those songs when hearing it live, the audience will be completely still, and you could probably hear a pin drop for 4-5 seconds after the song is over.
I'm all down for the album. I loved Reverence and it became my favourite from PWD and this has the potential to top that, based off of the singles. I really like (dark) ballads and this is an amazing one. Winston's melodic talking in here is great as well and does compliment the mood of the song so well. It seems to me that the album is really written for being played live with how massive I imagine the singles in a live setting, especially The Greatest Fear. To your thought of them being a "christian" band. I think that Winston or another guy from them said in an interview some years ago, that they used the term to get more following and are not christian at all. Them being kinda spiritual is what crossed my mind in the past as well, especially after the release of Reverence, but there are so many forms of spirituality out there, that are not religious.
For anyone who digs this style of song, bands like Novembers Doom, Lake of Tears and a bunch of other gothic metal bands do so much of this, love seeing Parkway bring some nice attention to European Metal genres with this latest record. :D
Classic rock ballad vibes!! The vocals are very James from Metallica and the solo and instrumentation behind it is very November Rain, where the intro reminded of stairway to heaven which is the song you were humming at the end. Not many bands can pull this style off so kudos to them!
I got a lot of Metallica and even sound of silence from disturbed. I had to delete my comment, started typing during the guitar solo that it would be awesome if he built up and went into screams. Then it happened haha. Love the song.
I'm a huge fan of their old stuff but hell man this song slaps on another level.. such as all slow and deep songs metal bands release they have their place in it

Before I give my opinion I'd like to say that my taste has left the Metalcore scene for quite some time now, as it's gotten way too mainstream with clean vocals, and I've grown to appreciate the darker brutal side of Deathcore and Death Metal. Having said that, I know there are a few lone wolf bands out their keeping the angst and heaviness like Alpha Wolf, Grayscale Season, Consvmer, Borders or After the Burial (when they were releasing stuff)...Keeping that all in mind, I'm ABSOFREAKINGLUTELY down for Parkway Drive's new direction. I can salute these guys, confident that they'll forever be a pioneer within Metalcore, but leave it feeling robust and seeking a different endeavor. Whereas with 97-98% current Metalcore bands, they've either become cowards to what current extreme metal means and wish to join the mainstreams masses approving of them, or their personal tastes mixing in with Metalcore shifted the dynamics so much of what newer music they create that it doesn't even resemble what they should be making for music, yet still getting clumped in with Metalcore and tainting it. Basically, I'm tipping my 10gal hat off to Parkway Drive.
I think people become stubborn once they are huge fans and bands change direction, at the end of the day they are truly wonderful musicians and takes a crazy amount of skill not only to come up with a melody and make it all work but to give you a sense of feeling, yes there not like they use to but bands change and evolve , take it as you will but i think there talented in their own way and enjoy their old and new songs. but thats my opinion.

Wishing Wells has winston saying "the devil and god have died inside me" and the whole song "i hope you rot" is basically one big criticism of the catholic church, and he has gone on record saying that he personally doesn't believe in god but he also doesn't believe that there is no god.
