  • Sermon on the Mount E2 - As a Jewish rabbi, Jesus was immersed in the Hebrew Bible, or what Christians often call the Old Testament. The Hebrew Bible tells the story of God working with ancient Israel to bring about his Kingdom. And in the New Testament, Jesus claimed that God’s Kingdom was at long last arriving in him. In this episode, Tim and Jon walk through the three parts of the Hebrew Bible, showing how they connect to what Jesus teaches in the Sermon on the Mount. Plus, Michelle, Dan, and Aaron go on a field trip to look at a Torah scroll to better understand how the Hebrew Bible is designed.

The Kingdom is not somewhere that you go, but someplace that has arrived, which each of us must “turn around/change” to see! WOW

Lol love the conversation, but hearing a description of someone being shown a scroll is a bit tedious. That may be the time to use video as well as audio

@@Jeremy_Edwards_OTAI do apologise for not hearing Tim's words correctly. English is not my first language, so maybe that's why the words didn't make much sense to me but thank you, kind Jeremy, for clearing it out. I do appreciate it sincerely. Blessings all the way from South Africa

I am not a fan of the new format. I appreciate the idea of people talking about, in my opinion, items unrelated to the topic, but it seems disjointed and distracting. I prefer the more interestingly direct, dialog between just John and Tim.

I agree, I prefer the natural progression of a real conversation between two people. It seems that conversation is still there just a bit disjointed, as you pointed out. I’m trying to reserve judgment and just enjoy it, but I’m currently feeling the same. We will if my opinion changes as the episodes progress.

It is so sad that you feel the need to express negativity towards the bible projects effort, not all people are created the same there for different means of communication are valuable to other groups of people .

@@ruthdeboer3259 I don't think anyone in this comment section has expressed negativity towards the bible project as a whole, or any individuals that work there. We expressed an opinion of distaste for a change to a fairly tried and true format of material they put out. If you like their new format, that's fine, and if you don't that's fine too. I don't see how its sad to express a negative view on a change in format.

I hope John was intentionally channeling his inner vanilla ice when he said "stop, calibrate, and listen" haha! When Jesus said it, it was probably more like "Stop! Calibrate and listen, Emmanuel is here with the brand-new edition… of the gospel." And then "word to your mother [whispers] (she also needs the gospel)"

Stop, calibrate and listen, Christ is here to disrupt your tradition
The gospel grabs a hold of you tightly
Spirit in your heart teaching how to love rightly
      God's word never stops yo
Eternal flow, turns on the light
In the night, let it show

The Hebrew word "Tov" (טוֹב) is a significant and multifaceted term found throughout the Bible, especially in the Old Testament. Its primary meaning is "good" or "beneficial," but it goes beyond a simple ethical judgment. The concept of "Tov" is deeply intertwined with the idea of order and harmony in the cosmos, as presented in the biblical narrative.

I’m enjoying this new series and teaching very much but I agree with some of the other comments re:audio vs video… hearing them walking into a room at the seminary had me double checking to see if somehow I’d missed the video portion- then realizing there’s no video- so yes, it’s a little different
    But still great content!

Does everyone entering into the Kingdom receive an administration position?
33:00 the left hand not knowing what the right is doing, ☞☜ is one keeping private one’s righteous deeds from another person in one’s own circle of acquaintances, and other humans in general. Gouging out one’s eye👀, or cutting off ones ✂︎✌︎ hand thus requires cutting off external things or people that may be a trigger to sinful behaviors known as works of the flesh 🥩. These works in the Sermon are a distinctly different type of works from the works Paul was preaching against such as physical circumcision. There are three types of works listed in the book of Galatians:
①Works lead by the Torah of Moses
②Works lead by the Flesh of Adam
③Works lead by the Holy Spirit
All the works in the Torah of Jesus Christ are type ③ and require the Holy Spirit’s attributes to properly accomplish. Contrary to common belief, one does not have to be a Christian to be saved from the everlasting lake of fire, since even claiming to be a Christian doesn’t guarantee salvation. We see this in the great white throne judgment. There are two resurrections, those who claim to be Christians and obey, even when tested to the limit, will be crowned with a position in Kingdom administration, the second group will be subjects of that Kingdom. Few will make it into the first category of salvation, most who do receive salvation will fall short, as have I, most likely. In these last days the pressure for the first resurrection will be so enormous that most will end up taking the mark of the Beast. Those who do make it, must endure the tests given them, and will be immune from the second death. Those who are granted salvation in the great white throne judgment can experience the second death, but they do not need to be Christians to be allowed into everlasting life, since this judgment includes all those who have come from the offspring of Adam in all human history. Type ① works are not necessarily going to send a person to the lake of fire or keep one out of the Kingdom, because if one does them along with type ③ works, the type ① works will serve as a transitional step for others watching, who are stuck in traditional cultural beliefs such as an Orthodox Jew, or an ultra Orthodox Jew who may be interested in transitioning to a cross carrying ☦︎ disciple of Jesus Christ. We must work out our own salvation with fear and trembling which is a process, that starts when we first come to believe.

You know what's interesting? God's spirit is with Him. You know. Like if I were to ask you. Where is your spirit you'd probably say in me right. Like He who is in Me is Greater than I. I'm thinking He's talking about God. But God's spirit is with Him. When we die our spirit leaves us. His spirit is with Him. That's the perfect description of a deity that cannot die. Right? Did I see that right?

In the Hebrew Exodus story, Moses led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, showcasing God's deliverance and guidance. In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus emphasizes spiritual liberation and a new covenant, paralleling the Exodus theme of freedom. Both narratives highlight the importance of following God's commandments (instructions & teaching), prophets, and writings for a righteous and fulfilling life. Moses' role as a mediator between God and the people finds echoes in Jesus presenting a new interpretation of the law. The Exodus foreshadows Jesus as a deliverer, reinforcing the Christian belief in salvation (rescue, deliverance, and Exodus) through faith in Christ. Jesus' teachings on love, forgiveness, and righteousness align with the moral principles emphasized in the Exodus narrative.

I know you have spent a lot of time working on this series. But I hope the pacing picks up a bit. It feels like we've had 2 filler episodes. Also the swapping around of who's talking/where they're talking is a bit strange and I don't think necessary for a podcast format. Just keep it simple, Tim, Jon and anyone else, in one room, digging in. Period.
    Thankyou for all you do!
