Grab one of these while you can. The model shown here is a Gen 1 but later production model. They changed the pivot point of the trigger. I have a very rare low 2000 serial split trigger gen 1. These will get as expensive as the H&K P7s. Great pistol.
This pistol has and still is my favorite pistol ever made starting the day I first learned about it. I'm very happy that I was able to find and own one. 40cal. Version.
The grip was designed by a famous Italian match pistol grip designer. This is what really sets this apart from it Glock counterpart; compare it the the feel of any Glock grip. The tenifer finish is indestructible and the machine work is German to the core. The de-cocker is nice, the exposed firing pin when cocked, but don't forget the round-in-chamber indicator that is often overlooked in reviews. With all that together, you can determine the state of your weapon in complete darkness. This is the reason I love it. Plus, its dead nuts accurate and reliable. I will never sell it. Great choice :)
Sold my Olive gen 1 back in like 2002. I shot it better then any other pistol and like it better. But I only had 10 rounders for it and ended up keep a Glock 19 as my home defense weapon because I had 15 round mags for it. Stupid stupid stupid regretted doing shouldn’t have done it. Got out of handguns for a while. But have started building my collection over the past couple years again and strangely it took me until now to get a p99 gen 1 back. Coming in this week. If it runs like my old one lost my other handguns are going to feel lonesome because it’s gonna be my go to. Might try to get the p99c also. Didn’t care for the later generations looks as much but on the c it works for me a bit more.
The "eagle" with the letter N under it, stand for Nitro-Cellulose (smokeless powder), The AA is the date code. A=0 B=1, etc. so the gun was manufactured in '00 or 2000. Great video!
And I read on Wiki that the eagle above the N is the German stamping or rollmark indicating that the P99 Gen 1's in 9mm are completely made in Germany !!!! And I'm a lucky owner of two of these pistols and both are 9mm of course !!! The first one I bought is a black frame and a tennifer coating stainless slide it was called the QPQ model and the second one I have is the OD green or military version with the black slide !!!!
Oh yeah and they also made a desert tan color version with a black slide which is also pretty hard to find these days in new or like new condition !!! I got lucky a few years back and found my OD green mititary model on gunbroker and I had to pay up for it and it was after I had seen Sootch00 do a review of that pistol !!!
The "branch" is actually an antler and a testing mark by the BeschossAmt, similar to the American UL symbol. It means that the gun was fired using a round that was loaded at 130% of the maximum. It is a German certification that originated in the 1600's.
Getting a 9mm gen 1 in this week. Sold my old one in 2003 or so and have regretted it ever since. It was my best handgun. Just took me 15. Years and countless other guns to realize how stupid it was to sell that p99.
Lucid Monkey the used was $400 I believe I paid near $700 for my new one In the early 2000’s. The used ones in very nice condition. But almost 20 years old and used.
Justin Williams I have one made in 2003 in good shape, box and all the stuff at a local shop for 500$.. think that reasonable? Seems like only a few hundred rounds went threw it.
Lucid Monkey I had a typo my used / new to me was $500. So yes I do believe that’s reasonable mine had just a slight bit a holster we are up on the front at the angles of the slide otherwise is in like new condition however it only had one magazine no target included. And the box wasn’t in the best of shape. So yeah I would definitely consider getting that.
Justin Williams ok good thanks for answering! I might have to jump on it as I hardly ever see it for sale here. 10 round though. Walther’s are just sweet!
Just an FYI if you ever need to replace your sping, the new gen recoil spings (blue color inside end) are very slightly shorter and will fit flush with the slide. They work just fine with the gen 1 pistol.
I have a 1999 first gen Interarms QPQ and a 2004 third gen S&W marked. I prefer the newer pistol, don't like the trigger guard "hump" and prefer the longer magazine release levers. Both are fine, fully reliable handguns.
+Elizabeth Smiddy I do have the P99C lined up for next year. I also have my Walther PP form the 60's in the queue. Thanks for watching friend, and take care for New Years ! Mayor Fuglycool
Just thought I'd come thru here and note that this is actually more like a gen 1.5. True first gen had the serial numbers on the other side of the slide, a split trigger, and actually used 16 round magazines. If you look at the youtube video where the guy has both a 9 and a 40 you'll see the real "gen 1" ... That being said though, this is a sick gun and always will have a special place in my heart. The new ones with the double etched P99 and the big fat slide serrations are just plain ugly. I love the idea of "flaming branch", because well it is in fact awesome, but it's really an antler haha.
+DiabloInformer The only P99 pistols that came with the Glock-style trigger safety, were the DAO models. AS and QA do not have the split trigger. There is no 1.5 version, this is an internet rumor that has been spread for a while now. Gen1 small mag release, proprietary rail with ski hump. Gen 2 small mag release with rail no ski hump. Gen 3 long mag release with rail no ski hump. Also, the slide release does not change the generation of P99. The extended / ambi mag release was an option from gen 2 and on. Thanks for watching, and please don't get angered about the Gen explanation. I have dealt with Walther since the 2000's, and have been collecting them for some time now. :) Mayor Fuglycool
+Mayor Fuglycool Lmao you seriously deleted my comment proving you were wrong? Wow. I was being civil before, but deleting a comment just so people don't see that you're wrong is pretty low. Let that be a lesson to anyone who watches this idiots videos I guess. If you call him out for being incorrect he will just delete your comment. Sad.
DiabloInformer No really, what did you post ? I don't delete any comment unless it has vulgar language directed to me or my subscribers. I am totally sure I have not deleted your comments man. Mayor Fuglycool
I actually have the second generation. The P99 Gen 1 was originally designed for 16 round magazines and has a law enforce only stanp(thanks bill Clinton). Mine came with two 15 round magazines. Also, there actually is no third generation P99.
Yes there is a 3rd gen. 1st gen short mag release, proprietary rail mount, small slide serrations, and trigger (ski hump). 2ond gen is SHORT mag release, P99 light mount, and large slide serrations with no trigger hump. 3rd gen is LONG mag release, P99 light mount, and large slide serrations with no trigger hump. I used to talk to the Walther guys all the time, and I have a large collection of P99's as well. Got a few PP's, P5's, and PPK/S. Face lifting the P99 didn't really help sales, and the QA P99 was really a failed attempt at competing with the glock for LE sales. The trigger pull was so bad. . . LOL Thanks for watching ! Mayor Fuglycool
I'll probably never have it because of the shitty country where I live, but I admire it so much and I don't even know why, I want one so bad even if it means to leave it as a decoration in my room :/
Thanks for watching, I feel sad that you cannot own guns in your country. . . :( You can always move to Texas, we will welcome you ! Thanks for watching friend ! :) Mayor Fuglycool
A lot of awesome information and I love the Walther P99 But two criticisms; either pronounce it "WalTHer" like Americans do or "voltar" like it's properly pronounced in german. Also I CAN'T BELIEVE that you pulled that trigger at beginning with a magazine IN the pistol and didn't safety check it. It might be nit-picking but that's horrible firearm discipline. Also, if your hand doesn't fit the pistol, try not having the biggest backstrap on the face of the Earth on it
I have a new P99as. Have not shot it yet. I want to buy you're P99 first gen. You can name your price, with in reason. Please let me know. Or tell me where I can get one like tours. Thanks.
Yes I'll sell you one brand new for 1500 bucks with box and paper work and with two 10 round mags !!! They're getting hard to find in new or like new condition !!!!
Or I could sell you a brand new P99 gen one QPQ model with the custom rail adapter with crimson trace green tac-light lazer sight and two 10 round mags all with box and papers for pistol for 2500 bucks !!!!
Walther, not walter. As in wall therr You keep pronouncing it in correctly. Can’t watch. Sorry, I see stuff like this all the time in videos where people say even the simplest words incorrectly and it’s just impossible to continue.

1 gen P99 is the most beautiful of all 3 gens.
Yes, this firearm was designed to be sexy. Especially with the trigger reset being so small of a distance.

I felt the grip of a gen 1 back in the early 2000s possibly the best ergonomic fit in hand gun i have ever gript. I should of bought it.
I have this pistol and love it. Mine was made in 1999 and in mint condition. Such an awesome pistol.
I know this is from 3 years ago, but wondering what grain ammo you found best to feed this beauty. I also have the 1999 version.
@@Corrupted-file I like 124 grain but I never had a problem with any other ammo. And right now that's really important

So the decocker leaves you with a double action trigger and not a dead trigger?
Yes, the Decocker leaves you with double action :)
Mayor Fuglycool
Thanks. It's definitely a classic. I'm glad Walther is still making them. I'm thinking about getting the compact model.
For the first shot only in double action.
A lot of awesome information and I love the Walther P99 But two criticisms; either pronounce it "WalTHer" like Americans do or "voltar" like it's properly pronounced in german. its both, it has a de-cocker button on the left rear side of frame.
