    I grew up with the SNES version of the game and haven’t heard the X68000 original before. Had to chase down the original cd soundtrack and today I found it complete in good condition. I’m so happy to finally have it in my collection.

    Without a shadow of a doubt, this is one of the greatest OSTs ever made. I even like the game even if it's a bit unfair and has collision detection issues. I adore this OST. Keep it here as long as you are able or I will have a BIIIIIG sad!!

    Ah this game brings back so many old memories. I believe I got it in the Summer of 1993. I bought Street Fighter II Turbo Hyper Fighting with my summer job money and traded in my mint boxed copy of Street Fighter II to a stall at the "Fabulous Flea Market" for this game lol. I remember being attracted by the awesome box art. The booth vendor was busy copying SNES games with a UFO and rushed me to decide on buying it (I only got to try it for like 2 minutes).My cousin came over the following day and we were stuck at that stupid Lion boss. I played through and beat it once. I enjoyed it but then soon used it as trade fodder for my copy of Super Metroid, which I still have to this day.

    • @Red88Rex
      @Red88Rex  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are some cool videos on here featuring it, like someone took apart a machine and then there are some of people actually playing them...you can still get them from Japan but they're expensive as hell and not always guaranteed to work. They were basically an early home computer.
      I have not been there but I will visit, you should keep it updated :)

      @@crcyclone "Any other soundtracks you'd recommend?"
      Ive often called the Sega Genesis a poor mans X68000. Sega watered down the specs of a X68000 to make it more affordable for consumers. Anyways, if theres games that were on the Genesis and the X68000, thats what Id recommend. The added 2 voices make that much of a difference. I know Ive listened to all versions of Arcus Odyssey, and yes the X68000 is the best over the Genesis and the SNES.

      @KTJohnsonkidThunder 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@crcyclone When Kemco ported it over to the Super NES, at the time, the composer only had to work with whatever the samples/sound driver they had back then, thus being the reason why that version has an inferior soundtrack in comparison to this.

    I only recently found out the awful SNES game was a diminished port of an original for a Japanese computer system and that apparently the original game was far easier / better to play and more enjoyable. I vividly remember my brother and I renting this game for the SNES, dying a lot and feeling like we wasted a Blockbuster rental on a crappy game.

      There's no MIDI playback in Lagoon, or in any ZOOM games on the X68000. It only used the X68000's internal sound chip. Still some of the best music in any video game in my opinion. I actually own the official CD. (along with the North American and Japanese Super Nintendo/Super Famicom games complete in box, and the X68000 version) I grew up with this game, and it's cool to see more people enjoy something about it.

    • @aaronharrellmusic
      @aaronharrellmusic 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The X68000 itself had a lot of games that you could play the MIDI soundtrack (which most games supported, and even had two or three separate arrangements for the occasion). What you'd do is hook up a MIDI board to the back, plug it in to a Modulator, like an SC-55 or MT-32 (two different types of modulators that you could choose specific arrangements based on which one you had). If you didn't have any of the MIDI stuff, the X68000's internal sound was also decent, so you didn't necessarily need MIDI sound to play a game. Like I mentioned in the above comment, I own all of the ZOOM games for the X68000 and none of them supported MIDI.
