      Is it ok if you just replace the casings such as the outer and inner bottom casing and the upper casing, and use the original housing, how did you get the stickers off as well?

    • @cleanclouds

      @@noobymcnooberson347 Yes you can! It's personally a better solution if you don't want to mess with it too much!

      Pushing hinge out for removal, or pushing hinge back into place? This is a tricky process to remove the hinge. Better if you have an angled type pick or screwdriver. Make sure the top cover of the system is off and the system is on closed position.

      Had this problem. The while cylinder has an extra lip to it, which lines up with the slot on the insert. You need to match them together and figure out what angle you need to rejoin them at.

    extremely important tip for anyone doing this, MAKE SURE YOU PUT RIBBON CABLES IN ORDER. he states the order at 6:25 , i got all the way to the end and realized i mixed up 3d cable and lcd cable so i had to work back aaalll the way to the beginning. ended up accidentally snapping a wire on the left speaker bc of it. Another tip: flip back the top screen to the 2nd click sound (or regular playing position) when trying to push out the small white bit in the barrel hinge at 2:47 , in this video he pushed out the white bit whilst the 3ds was in closed position which in my experience makes it insanely more difficult (which damages the 3ds more when trying to get it out) whereas it just easily pushed out when the 3ds was in playing position. idk if anyone still rly does repairs on 3ds but if you are going to, use the tips from this comment trust me it will save you.

    As a complete beginner, im astounded i didnt fuck those up along the way.

      @@TheFixTech I didn't include this in the comment but the LCD cable that is connected to the top screen has a slight rip in it, I'm thinking that this is what's causing the issue.

    I have a question, does taking out the battery reset everything? mii character data, game data, etc? If so, is there a way to back up everything instead of some of the data?
    I have bought a replacement shell but keeping my old dinged up aqua blue outer case (for nostoliga reasons). I wanted to replace the frame because the hinge is completely cracked and I am afraid I will break the cable inside it (edit: it's the snap-lock hinge so it kind of makes sense it broke besides the dropping on concrete atleast 200 times). I haven't started this because I still needed tools and also waiting for a protective case just incase I drop it more times again. (maybe screen replacements if I can find one any more because my top screen has some dead pixels because the inside rubber case protect the screen from hitting the case).
    I have to say, this thing is the most durable thing in the world. I was ruthless with it when I was younger, mashing buttons and throwing it and dropping it on the ground (I have butter fingers). I dropped my old phone and the screen protector is completely shattered from being dropped on a wood floor 3 feet above. Compare to a 3ds that got thrown in the air (~8 feet) and dropped on solid concrete atleast 200 times without any protective case or anything and still survived with some paint scratched but thats it. This device should have been dead 8 years ago but still works 100% perfectly normal besides visual damage.
    (Edit: I also broke the joystick because I am a try-hard at Mario Kart 7 and play at 150cc all the time. Still works, just a bit more painful trying to play on a small 3mm by 3mm plastic peg)

    Instructions unclear at 5:23. In the video I see two top shell borders (idk what else to call them,) the old one and the new one, but I only have the old one. The housing I bought did come with a top shell, but there is no hole for the screen, instead it’s just the inner side of the plastic shell. I really need a response for what to do because I’m getting worried that I will be having to spend a lot more money! Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

    • @TheFixTech

      Screws are very small, and the motherboard can be damaged. Use both hands, one to steady the other, and keep both wrists on the table edge to help steady

    Impressive skills! Im a little affraid of ribbon cables because they are so fragile. But the speakers from my 3ds xl sounds misformed when i put the slide at max volume.Wonder if i can fix this with cleaning, or do i need an complete flex cable with new or refurbished speakers attached? Thnx

    • @TheFixTech
      @TheFixTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You can try cleaning them first, remove the top lcd cover. You can then access the speakers, pry them back and make sure the grilles are correctly shaped and clean any dust. If still staticky then replace, neat thing is they are soldered onto the flex so you can replace speakers only without having to tear down the complete system.
