    Mark Evans wrote a memoir about his time in AC/DC called 'Dirty Deeds'. I highly recommend it for a real grass roots insight into the early days of the band and their first forays into international acclaim. My favourite bit was when he and Bon were in Paris and the sun was coming up after a verrry long night. Bon looked out from their hotel balcony, saw the Eiffel Tower, turned to Mark and said, "You know, they've got one of those in France as well."

      They eventually were categorized as 'Heavy Metal' towards the end of the 70's . It's how the record labels marketed AC/DC, Van Halen, RUSH, KISS, etc.. - if it was Hard ROck, it was considered 'Heavy Metal' . The split genres of Metal started in the early 80's (Thrash, Black, etc..) . Record Co.'s back then , thought the key was to categorize in genres and subgenres .

    Height has nothing to do with it. Smaller guys are usually a lot more scrappy when it comes to fighting. But nobody was hit during this. It was more of Mal going wtf when Geezer pulled the knife. Geezer said he was just playing with his new knife and Mal took it the wrong way and that was it. Angus said Mal got it away after Geezer flashed the knife to him and felt bad and was going to apologize the next day and Ozzy said to Mal “Him and that knife! Tell him to fuck off!” And Mal said he took it away from Geezer and Ozzy was there and just said “go to bed.” Id go more with Angus’ story because he tended to stay sober over all the years.

    I’m an older-age Aussie...and this is the first I’ve heard of this incident.Black Sabbath is my fav..heavy..band....AC/DC...top 3-5.I reacon it’s real simple...geezer was pissed and f’ing round with a switch....Malcolm..went into a sort of..PTSD leap of mood....and cracked..geeezer on the jaw.Beside..Malcolm’s rough up bringing as a small guy in..Scotland and then Australia....you have to understand that in ..Aust..in the pub crowd of the 70’s..knifes were considered..cowardly...nazi-like...the same as ..kicking a guy in a fist-fight(doesn’t apply today)...so..Malcolm probably would have gone..f’ this for a joke.Both..Bon especially...and..Malcolm..were known as fierce bar- fighters...when all bets were off....win or lose didn’t matter.

    Another tall tale from the road. What's the truth? Who knows. I don't know about Geezer but Malcolm wasn't a big guy at all; none of the AC/DC guys were but even still, I bet he could handle himself OK.
    When those guys were cutting their teeth back in the day down under, it weren't upscale clubs they were playing in so I'll bet there were more than a few scraps along the way. Coming up like that, you learn how to take care of yourself quick.

He was short but he was a scrapper. You gotta be when you are that short. If he didn't stick up for himself people would have run over him.

      It was Malcolm Young who got into a confrontation w/ his own brother George Young in 1987 while working on the album 'Blow up your video'... Malcolm's drinking got so bad by then that George was fed up and threatened to quit the sessions if Malcolm didn't 'clean up'... but that didn't work. I don't know who to believe honestly, cos in 1977... Geezer Butler was heavily into drugs & booze. Gene Simmons recalled Geezer freaking out & running off when he greeted the Sabbath bassist in his 'demon' makeup & costume. This was when Kiss opened for Sabbath around 1975(?)
    Malcolm Young on the other hand was always smashed on booze, even in the early days... it got particularly bad by the 80's.
    Love both bands, respect both musicians... but it's hard to know what really happened when both guys are trashed on alcohol... Mark Evans did admit that his brash, drunken behavior likely cost him his gig w/ AC/DC in 1977, but we got bassist Cliff Williams 🤘🤘

    Where there's smoke, there's fire. You don't get kicked off of a tour, after it has already started, without some event transpiring that forces the removal of an opening act. There are millions of dollars at stake.
    Having said that, the event that could've gotten ACDC removed from the tour might have been Black Sabbath getting smoked off stage by the opening act's performances. Black Sabbath hated to have any real competition to follow and their lustre had tarnished by this point in time. The other event that could've gotten ACDC thrown off the tour was the 'toxic twins' angle of Bon and Ozzy. If there were too many of those drunken escapades, that would have caused management to step in and intervene.

    • @richardhincemon9423
      @richardhincemon9423 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tour was canceled after AC DC did a 20-minute set due to equipment problems in Lund Sweden April 1977. This had been a problem throughout the tour and management decided to end the tour in oslow Switzerland the following week. Mark Evans was kicked off the tour by Angus Young and replaced with Cliff Williams. He's obviously exaggerating the story to sell more copies of his book! Cheers

Those who didn't know AC/DC got their butts kicked out by the Deep Purples Road crew in Australia. They had the balls to try and play through Deep Purples music equipment, lol. They were begging the crowd of Australian fans to help them as they were getting beat down like dogs. True story, look it up.
