2 things: 1. I use decorative boxes like the ones from Michael's under my tree to help hide the base and make it look more festive both before and after the gifts are there. You can gte some of those to help hide the base. I lean them up against the base as well. 2. We have basic frames where we include a picture from every Christmas. They all match and they have the pictures of our son with Santa from 1-10. I love them!

I have a tree lifting solution! When I was a kid, we always bought live trees. And my father wanted the tree a little taller in our home for our higher ceilings. So he built a foot high square pedestal or platform base for the tree, and we draped the tree skirt over it, and it looked like a Barbie tree skirt that draped over the pedestal! We did it for YEARS, and with the lifted tree, we were able to fit more presents under it haha!! Good luck!

For my daughter’s crib I did storage in the bottom too and I ended up just doing a ruffle skirt with a print that went with the decor and it was beyond perfect! And for the bottom of my tree I did a tree collar and then I added a really pretty thick white quilt with scalloping on top that added dimension and I’m thinking of adding a train to go around the tree, it makes it so much grander

Tree trunk options: giant ornament figures surrounding the tree, elf on the shelf around the trunk like he’s climbing, Or one of those smaller Santa figures that’s climbing a ladder.
Grant's Woot, Woot talent is spot on. And nothing falls down. Your ability to decorate top shelves and the upper part of the tree without a ladder is magnificent. (Wrap a couple of dummy boxes to put around your tall tree trunk and you won't notice it at all.) Happy Thanksgiving.
For next year, if you want to use the extender to lift the tree, wrap some boxes in coordinating/ sparkly paper to fill the space below the branches. Since you won't be unwrapping the boxes, you can get fancy paper that will be part of the decorations. If you get boxes with separate lids, you can wrap the top and bottom in different papers if you like AND the lids are removeable for after Christmas storage. 🎁🎄🎁

I saw a video where they got a big box and cut it so it would open to fit around it… and then wrapped the box with wrapping paper to match the decor! It looked like a box type “collar” that might be a good fix!

Or take the extender off and find a sturdy box/platform you can set it on top of with a cute cloth to cover the platform? Make and wrap some faux present boxes as decor under the middle of the tree with real gifts in front later?
Same I go nuts for christmas stuff too. All kinds of christmas decor, gaudy , tacky, or elegant, or crazy retro with the pastel colors, or traditional colors .Simple scandanavian style decor, rustic style christmas decor. I just want to have a different theme for each room. I mean you really can't go wrong with any type of christmas decor .

For the bed extension, you could nail some beadboard around the base and paint it to match the top frame for a more "built in" look or add a curtain with lots of pleats so you can put baskets under.
I know you are already decorated now, but next year if you want to raise the tree up you can put the base on cinderblocks. You can use zipties to keep it locked in place on top! Everything looks great. Your video gave me the motivation to get my act together and get decorated.
I am definitely trying the tree extender next year… I already decorated mine and don’t want to break anything….. I would find a a plain pine garland and secure it to the bottom branches 😊
Love this video. We sit our tree on a box then cover it with a white fluffy blanket then decorate that area as an alpine village then the Hogwarts train goes around that. Have a wonderful Christmas from Tasmania xx
Leighann, just get a couple of those crates from Michael's. Sit the tree on the crates, it will raise it up and go with your traditional, vintage Christmas theme. You could take a nice throw blanket in red and drape it over the crates also.

Tree collar -> round laundry basket (they're deeper) cut a chunk out of the back to be able to get around th the tree. Cover it in ribbons or twins
