The frustrating thing is people who fall for propaganda can’t be reasoned with because modern propaganda manipulates deep emotions. It’s like watching someone who’s in love with someone who doesn’t give a shit about them.
It frustrates me because it's our failure. One thing I've realised is that you will rarely find somebody in those circles that had a happy, balanced life when they fell in the pit. Extremism (of all kinds) attracts the lost and wounded. Society failed these people, and they react "accordingly". One might be dismissive towards them, but given the scales we are reaching worldwide in those tendencies, there's a system there. Something pushing them. @@Castragroup Remember the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact between Russia and Germany in 1939? First the Russians helped Russia take a piece of Poland and then attack Western Europe without having to be afraid to be attacked in the back. Only when they had done that did they attack Russia. By then Europe was divided between the Western Alliance and Russia thanks to Yalta. If that hadn't happened Europe would have been at war far longer. I do agree. I am Russian too. But I don't understand being proud or lucky of it just because you were born to be that nationality. It's not like your nationality is some kind of achievement. And what does it mean - "my blood is from my father", is it not from his mother too? Just stupid words. And what end does he go to? The parody from that comic guy was very shrewd. I loved how he literally said "I am 'narrow' (in Russian rhymes with 'Russian', meaning 'narrow-minded' because all you are as a person shouldn't just come down to nationality you are.) And those narrow-minded people got offended, which only proves that they are narrow minded.
Thats nationalism generally, like keep it to national sports please. An ui guess ukrainians have at least the reason that they defend their culture legit. Which i think is the only exception really, to preserve culture reasonable.
It depends. I'm Bengali, and in India, we are seen as obnoxiously proud of our language and culture. But when West Pakistan decided we were too "nationalistic" for their Pakistan project and tried to murder us into submission, that pride in our language and culture brought us together to fight against the Pakistani military, despite almost one million of us killed. Yahya Khan, the dictator of Pakistan at the time, believed if they killed one million Bengalis, the rest will eat out of their hands. My favourite patriotic (?) song is Deutschland by Rammstein. It's a song about the very complicated feelings many Germans feel towards their homeland. They're not lazy and just focus on WWII - they go through the whole messy and glorious history. In the end they cannot just abandon their homeland. This is closer to real patriotism. It's about loving your country inspite (or even because of) its mayor flaws. You cannot love a lie
I wonder how much time needs to pass after the war is over for me to feel something like that towards Russia. For now its something close to loving a murderous crack junkie, whom you saw become this way with your own eyes, I feel.

The show went like this: in 16 episodes, Petrov would teach German to a group of popular actors with no previous knowledge of this language. The lessons had a plan, but the actors could ask questions along the way, or ask for the meaning if some words they wanted to know. Some were fast learners and some were slow learners... Long story short, this show was total immersion. I really felt like I'm in a language learning class in a very good school. The fat guy was one of the participants. I won't forgive Lazarev no matter what reason he had to do it, but I'm REALLY curious what brought him to this. How he got to this place. Money? Fear? Both?
There is a rumour that he faced blackmail that he would be outed as gay (that everyone knows for ages, but anyways) and could potentially lost his children (he's officially a single dad and had the through surrogacy) in this political situation.
You should do a video about the Russian pop/rockstars that actually stood up against the war. Like БИ-2, ДДТ, etc. As a bonus, a lot of their music is actually good
Screw them too... DDT were very happily supporting the war in Chechnya, which russia invaded twice. Then these bands started schooling Ukrainians that we don't bend over backwards to welcome them as white saviors, all of them. Most russian liberals break on Ukrainian question anyway: ask them whose is Crimea. If they can't answer straight that Crimea is Ukraine, they are imperialists. And then they keep complaining that Ukrainians aren't acting like they want us to: the last to break was Max from Nogu Svelo, crying over his mommy being denied a visa. Yeah, we don't want no russians in Europe, duh. Ukrainian refugees are CONSTANTLY assaulted by russian people in Germany or Italy. No more! Don't. Give. Them. Permits.
The remaining members of Kino also raised their voices against the war. And their March release of music video for "Я объявляю свой дом" suspiciously featured a house, with blue sky and yellow fields of wheat in the background. Exactly what the Ukrainian flag represents.
Shaman found the mother lode of musical success. His next song will be "I am straight", he will then appeal to the older generation with "I am a Babushka" and he can decline this into every profession to please every worker with him proudly being a plumber, a nurse, an Infantry lieutenant, a baker, an hairdresser, a moron, etc. He may have been rejected by The Voice, but he does follow their recipes for what modern pop music should sound like, according to these TV shows. Talking about this modern nonsense, where can we discover the best of Russian music and songs, contemporary or older popular music. I remember listening to some folk or traditional popular music, maybe from the 70s. I couldn't catch the words, but I knew from the music that they had meanings. Maybe a new dedicated channel? All isn't bad with Russia and Russians, it's mostly Putin and his goons that make it look like it.
I think it would be soooo hilarious if a band from each country DID spoof this song by doing a "straight" version of this song but make it about their own country. That would be soo hillarious

Hay! Not an apolitical Russian here. TLDR of the main problem is that Putin made many russians uninterested in politics as long as he the tsar gives them out enough stuff to survive and work. In 2014 a program aired on Russian TV: "Polyglot. Learn German in 16 hours" by the famous linguist Petrov. I watched it, and now I can see that it was actually VERY effective in laying the foundations of both grammar and vocabularly.
He also talked about how he wanted to go to Germany and actually understand what the people are saying, to embrace their different culture, to perform songs in German.

It would be very weird if it would come from someone else (maybe except the mother)

My blood comes from a vodka bottle.
Now imagine hearing that while being an adopted child, whose biological father has abandoned...
The actual blood only comes from mother and i don't think any blood comes from father, because it uses mother's blood to grow and develop as far as i know. :D Someone might know more but it would make sense that a sperm carries all the information but not the actual blood.

I've never felt better about that Jamala beat Sergey Lazarev in Eurovision 2016.

Trìed to find that "I'm narrow" parody, sadly all I get are mirrors of the Dronov's piece.
"I'm Narrow" is brilliant. Not sure if it's got the same connotation in Russian as it has in English, but someone who's "narrow" in English is generally an epithet that means they're either not very curious, intelligent, or interesting.
it means pretty much the same in Russian so the parody was on point for that
As a Russian, I’d say that the first thing that comes to mind regarding “I’m narrow” is actually something else. There’s this common saying, “russskiy - v zhope uzkyi” (Russian has a tight butthole), which can be used as a mockery extension of the phrase “Ya russkyi” (I’m Russian). I believe this is why these patriotic z-assholes were seething so much
