Also, my personal favorite moment of the DEE EM SEE TOO meme was during the Wario Land 4 stream where Vinny starts theorizing that several years from now, streamers such as himself will only be referred to as the games they've played by their fans, with them all never bothering to remember their actual names. As you can imagine, we soon get 'HOLEE SHIY, EES DEE AMM CEE 2!!!1 HES HEAR111!' which is immediately followed up by Vinny stating, with the utmost confidence that this would never happen since he'll never play DMC2.
As you can imagine, that remark kinda aged like milk in the desert XD
Also, to anyone curious about that exact moment, you can actually find that very conversation during the Wario Land 4 highlights video, with the DMC2 stuff occurring at the 6:08 mark.

Why is that? I've only played, like, 2 hours of 4 so my knowledge of the series is...lacking.

@@ridleyisbored.5393 I've played and seen more broken and lazy games. At least I know they tried here and it does work correctly. But this is just a quick list of reasons I despise it so much.
1: Starting pistols stun lock most enemies.
2: Many of those enemies are bullet sponges. The bosses especially so.
3: The writing is almost as boring the combat. Nothing leads to anything memorable.
4: There was so much potential with the two characters (and Trish if you beat both) and using the devil trigger abilities to get through the levels in interesting ways, and it was all wasted.
5: I wasted hours of my time on it on the Trilogy on my 360 before realising I should have moved on to 3 ages ago.

Game gets a bad rap because 5 sheckel salvador needed to stir gamer rage for likes. A lot of the best games of all time can usually be beaten in like, 4 hours or less lmao.

I'm disappointed that Vinny didn't do what he originally said, which was to play some of the game, and then watch a compilation of the best cutscenes. Some of the later cutscenes are nuts and that would've been fun to see.
This was unfortunately my intro into the series, and I thought it was so cool as a naive 9 year old with no concept of quality. Then my brother got the third game, I watched him play it, and was really impressed with how much cooler it was. Then about a month ago I played the first one and was really fucking confused as to what happened with the second one
I love the fact that his fate bacame sealed to play Devil May Cry 2 when he was playing corrupted Metal Gear Solid 3.

It is my humble opinion that Dante's dual-wielded guns are far superior to those of a certain other video game character (who uses very odd-looking boot holsters).
In my opinion, I believe that Bayonetta 2 is a sub-par game, I implore you to not play it. But instead play Capcom's Devil May Cry 2, for it is my favorite video game, Vincent.

Apparently both discs of DMC 2 were the same exact thing , , so you could pay as Lucia and pop Dante disk to swap characters mid campaign

I didn't saw this comment before and it's been 2 years since, but still since I have the 3 games on PS2, no you cannot do that, it would pretty much crash the game, Lucia's missions while of course being on the same scenarios and stuff, have slight modifications, which you could see as lazy yeah, but don't forget that the all loved DMC3 also did that with Vergil, of course Vergil had a very different moveset from Dante, compared to Lucia, but he literally follows the exact same path as the main game, also at least in DMC2 you can also play as Trish, having 3 playable characters before DMC4:SE or DMCV, no one would actually bother to unlock her, but at least the option was there.
I was disappointed when you didn't include the lullaby at the beginning, so the ending was just perfect. I never should have doubted you.
When I first played this game I didn't know that you could hold the shoot button so I beat the entire thing mashing square on the PS2 controller.
I got tendinitis because of it.
I heard Vinny joking about "It took us 6 months to do the water graphics" for DMC2, then suddenly remembered the articles talking about Pokemon Sword/Shield taking 6 months to finalize grass.
Sword/Shield is such an embarrassment, truly every good franchise has gone down the shitter

Ive heard people say DMC 2 is better because it didn't have an entire series to build off of. If DMC 2 was the final game in the series, it would just be a good game with a shitty sequel. But DmC:DMC had 4 games to build off of and chose to ignore pretty much all of what people liked, and considering the whole "DMC 4 needs to sell as many copies as Call of Duty" thing capcom had, DmC could have ended a series that had so much more room to grow and expand.
That being said, at least the gameplay of DmC special edition is okay. The base game not having lock on and the stupid color coded enemies is the dumbest shit of all time tho. And also sniper rifle abortion, can't forget that "Shakespearean writing."

Reboot gameplay looks fine (never played it, I might someday if I can for free) but I refuse to support TaMeem and his arrogance.

orig4mi Neither should have existed. Both of them got the characterization wrong but DmC at least has some small excuse in being a reboot (the excuse doesn't come close to covering up the issue that Donte is aggressively unlikeable). That said, even if DmC is the better game (not that I've played either: my copy of dmc2 that I bought for 5 bucks is sticky because I removed the rental stickers like an idiot and I'm afraid it will ruin my PS2; you can tell the general feel of a game by footage even if that's not the same as first hand experience) I have a harder time forgiving DmC because it's easier to forgive incompetence than arrogance. It was Capcom's fault largely because they were pushing for a different type of game in the series, but as soon as you notice that Donte is a self insert for TaMeem (and read what he had to say about the real Dante's aesthetics) it goes from bad and offputting to insufferably obnoxious.

I preordered this game and got it on release day as a teen... I had played the original at a friend’s place and was excited for the sequel. I had a blast but I couldn’t afford many games so I wasn’t as picky. The girl’s in air knife throw animation was so cool back in the day.

I'm back, and with a heavy heart I announce that Ian Bogost seemingly burned out on games.
In the article, he insinuates that games, in one way or another, are establishing an oppressive discourse on a player, demanding attention, interaction, and investment, if one wishes to be repaid with enjoyment for their efforts. He, then, draws a comparison that echoes throughout the entire article: games are work, and playing games is a labor best outsourced. Untitled House Game captured his attention, in this regard, in that it initially offers an experience of a goose's life, before turning a 180 and assigning a list of tasks for the player, to be performed. Any gamelan element, for him, is a source of bother and inconvenience.
He proceeds to compare video games to movies, books, and most importantly, memes. His point is: unlike vudeogames, neither of these other mediums requires an active engagement from the viewer, basically presenting itself and skipping on the "boring" parts like transitions, interactions with objects, and so on. He ultimately concluded that games, in this regard, are an entertainment best enjoyed ad proxy - through observation of those who play games.
My opinion, should anyone care: the article proposes a point of view that is as ridiculous as it is scary. We have gotten so distanced from actual labor that we expect even entertainment to be done for us. It's fundamental passivity that scares me, and, if taken to absurd extremes, will manifest itself in the idea of "breathing is a labor".

I tried reading that description out loud to myself and for some reason my pitch gradually increased to the point I was basically shrieking at the end.
Worth noting there are air combos but you need an amulet part and it's in DT only. There's also a kick flip in air but I forget how it's done. There are also many other combos you wouldn't find without someone's help.

After Vinny mentioned the article about the problem with Untitled Goose Game being that you have to play it (12:01), I decided to read the article for myself because I love terrible articles, and it is... quite a ride. I shan't spoil the goods for those who'd like to experience the surprise first hand. If you don't care, click Read More.
It starts out as you'd expect; the author talks about playing games being "fundamentally irritating" because you have to put in the effort to press buttons, and if it was just that, it would still be funny, but not particularly special beyond the fact such an article was actually, unironically written. And then he likens gameplay to real labor, and argues that all the memes made about UGG at the time were essentially a few people going through the trouble of playing the game so that the rest just get the "entertaining" parts, even though I feel like stuff like that is more likely to make people _more_ interested in playing the game because what they've seen of it looks fun, but that's besides the point. The point is that these ideas mark the point in which the article devolves into the pseudointellectual ramblings of some pretentious dude who doesn't understand that most video game players actually *enjoy* playing video games, and it is a sight to behold. I'd seriously suggest reading the article for yourself, though if it wasn't obvious, I don't want you to actually harass the author about it, especially since the article is three years old at this point.
I don't know why I was so shocked to see Brutalmoose's Poppy the Penguin in the suggested section, but that's pretty cool. 4:56

My friend sent me this after I beat this game as both characters and than again on hard to rid myself of it and play the rest of the series without ever needing to return. This brought me joy and made me feel like playing it was worth it to relate to this experience
