Rare needs to implement a feature where if you get sunk by the same crew, maybe three times within an hour or so you are forced to be merged. Because crews like that galleon are an actual problem lol.
This happened to me once, like 5 months ago. So basically we was serverhopping with my crew, and we found a fotd stacker. They stacked 13 fotd, and did like 5 gold hoarder vault voyage. The server was literally crying.
@@cornish4457 Honestly yeah. People are saying they want "Man Of War" which would be 5 player boats but like... With an actual decent, competent gally crew, Galleons are broken as hell. More people on the ship = more lag which just creates fucking headaches.
With experience on the backend, I can confirm that creating any server/client system capable of handling that many wave bobbing dynamic intractable assets would be a nightmare even as a AAA Studio. Loot sink timing is fairly complex and with that absurd quantity there is likely various time checks that are bugging or skipping ahead. Additionally any loot fondled will fix most timer issues and should stay afloat for up to 10 minutes. Gamer perspective: "fuck my loot!!!" Dev perspective: "why the fuck is the server dipping this hard! It would take thous.... Oh... Welp, it will sink and fix itself soon enough."
I was thinking about how to complain about loot stacking bs, but at least the servers don't crash anymore when you sword a stack of animal crates, so that's nice.
Dear The 🅱️, I was deeply moved by your latest video showcasing the intense sea battle in Sea of Thieves where you faced off against a formidable alliance of players. Your skillful navigation, strategic decision-making, and expert combat abilities were truly awe-inspiring to behold. Although the opposing team put up a valiant fight, your relentless perseverance ultimately triumphed, leading to their defeat and the loss of their precious loot. While some may see this as a devastating outcome, I couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for your unwavering determination and unwavering commitment to the pirate's way of life. Your video reminded me of the true nature of the pirate's life, where every moment is filled with danger and excitement, and where the spoils go to those who are brave and cunning enough to claim them. While losing a significant amount of treasure to the depths of the ocean is a tough pill to swallow, it's all part of the thrill of the pirate's life. Thank you for sharing this thrilling adventure with us. You continue to be a beacon of inspiration for all pirate enthusiasts out there, and I can't wait to see what other daring exploits you have in store for us in the future. Sincerely, Corzappy
rare needs to invest in some better servers or something because it really is sad that more than half of their loot started sinking within seconds of being in the water
imo there ought to be a cap on how much loot (as number of items, not value) you can carry. You should not be able to break the servers like this because you felt like carrying 400 seafarers chests.
@@WintonOverwatchEnjoyer well the point i was trying to make is, that i do not think that it is a given that the servers need to start lagging with any amount of loot at all. look at games like factorio that deal with literally billions of entities moving around without impacting the game speed too much. i think with just a bit of common sense while optimizing things, this entire problem can be avoided. without impact on any game mechanic
@@WintonOverwatchEnjoyer oh yeah and i sort of hate the thought of limiting what players can do just because of technical limitations, i think the ability to kinda do what you want is one of the great strengths of sea of thieves and i'd hate to see this drop down a slippery slope due to arbitrary optimization concerns
@@BlackV1ruZ dude there's no way that can be done, factorio and sot are on a completely different complexity level computationally Rare wouldn't wanna lose a crapton of money to pay for more resources just because 0.01 percent of the player base decides to stack an impossible amount of loot (that gives them no real benefit) To go bigger Rare should implement some smarter mechanics, like let's say compressing entities, i.e. every 5 captain chests you drop on the ship, they merge into a new item, let's say a "Prized captain's chest" that's worth the equivalent amount
Theb, you can't blame rare for the servers dying for this. This is quite litterally an incomprehensibly large amount of loot i dont know if there even are servers in existence that can handle this amount of loot
@@amustychickn why do you think it turns into castaway chests when its in huge stacks? That's what they fuckin do num nuts. I don't see you being a fuckin developer tho so i don't think you actually know how hard it to optimize it in huge stacks.
Programmer here, there is not a damn thing happening in Sea of Thieves besides ship physics and collisions that has any excuse for being this slow. This is a completely trivial amount of game objects. Games are just not optimized the way they should be anymore.
Theb, how do you pronounce "theb"? Is it with a long or short "e" or something like that? I have wondered some time now(btw i really enjoy your videos)
A game about ships and loot that stops working when ships and loot are around, love it
It's all the physics simulation that the client and server have to do when craploads of loot items are on ships or boats. /🤓
It’s almost like doing more is harder😂
My favorite part of this video is when Theb morphs into a galleon like an animal.
Apart of the ship and apart of the crew
Last I checked animals can’t shape shift into a galleon
@@AntiPlastic what do you mean? i have seen it.
I think he said animorph. Like the series of kids books that was popular in the early 2000s
@@sloppypoo-yeah I was at the zoo then I turned around and there was just a fucking massive galleon where the tiger was
Best strat is to stack such an absurd amount that if someone sinks you they physically cannot grab it all
or just dont sink\
That galleon had realistic amount of pirates on it 💀
The long awaited sequel to the hit episode ‘Sea of Misery’. Thanks for listening to the people theb!
That board with killing ladder guard with blunderbuss + snipe was so clean 12:26
Honestly the best sot content creator right now, dude beats the living crap out of the other ships and makes it interesting. Love to see it

😂😂😂😂The B❤
me and my friends once collected loot for 36 hours only to sink ourselfs out of curiosity of what it would do to the server. 400 ping server wide.
I think this is a perfect example of why bigger ship crews shouldn’t exist
