You certainly have introduced us to many new areas most of us have never experienced and for this I thank you. The amount of time to put these videos together must be immense and your skill at producing these videos has grown over the years. Hoping to see more of your adventures later in the year!
Thanks -- I appreciate you for watching and the comment. TBD what I'm up to next, but... there's a very good chance I'll be wandering through the desert again before too long. Cheers! 🌞✌
Hello Jamal, but now it's really time to say thank you very much!! We will miss you! My husband loves your weary "Day 8". With your trip you shortened the waiting time until our next road trip. Wishing you all the best.
Pizza and beer fund! Thank you Jamal for taking us along on this epic journey. I love Southern Utah and as a day hiker it would be difficult for me to see most of the places you've visited. I look forward to your future adventures! ✌️
Awesome! Big thanks for the SuperThanks -- that's very nice of you. I appreciate you for watching the full journey and the many nice comments along the way. Cheers! 🌞✌🍻🍕
You are welcome -- thanks for watching! I didn't get into Abbey until AFTER falling in love with hiking in southern Utah and of course I quickly became a big fan. He definitely has a superb way of capturing that "essence" of the desert. Thanks watching and the comment. 🌞✌
You are the best hiker on You Tube. You brought me to familiar place and places where I have not been. Now, what am I going to do without your exciting videos. I hope you don't stay away very long.
Thanks -- that's very kind of you to say. I hope it won't be too long before I'm out there again and have new videos to share. Until then... thanks again for "following along" and the nice comments along the way. 🌞✌
This is better than Netflix! Some of us here would daydream about this kind of experience that you shared with us. It would be nice to hear post-hike takeaways, lessons learned, and final thoughts on your colossal adventure. 🤩
Thanks! I definitely have many after-the-hike thoughts and I try to usually include them in my written blog report, but... TBD if that'll happen this real as the videos took longer than normal and it's almost time to get out hiking again! BUT... we will see. Thanks for "following along" and I appreciate the comment. 🌞✌
In one of the episodes you mention a writer who's a guru on the area (or something to that effect). And I thought, wait a minute, you're a guru on the area, too, the way you've linked things together (in this trip, and in past ones). And that's what makes them so special and enjoyable to watch.
Thanks -- I really appreciate that. It's a weird position as I am thankful for those who've come before me and in many ways realize I'm NOT an expert in many senses (ie I'm not a fast hiker, I'm not good at semi-technical climbs, don't know the history of all the locations as in-depth as I'd like, can't ID all the plants/rocks I wish I could, I'm not the most well-versed in gear topics, etc.), BUT... I do enjoy connecting the dots across the landscape so in that sense... I'll accept guru status! 😉 Thanks again for watching and the comment. ✌
That was a great ending! I could tell that you were in high spirits, too. Thanks for this amazing series and congrats on completing this epic hike. You've gotten us all through the long, dark winter. Almost time to leave again for the red rocks!
Thanks! I was happy with almost every part of this trek and glad it ended the way it did. Thanks for "following along" and the comments along the way. And yes... I'm already very anxious to get back out there and do it all again! 🌞✌
Thank you so much to take part in your hike. It was my pleasure and you are an inspiration for me. So I am looking forward to watching your next big journey, probably with new Equipment 😂 and, of course, Mr. Shadow. I am still waiting for the Merchandising Shirts 😊 Best regards Michael
Haha -- no merch... yet! (and don't let Mr. Shadow know if I ever do try to monetize his likeness!) 😉 Glad you enjoyed the series. TBD where I'll be going next, but yes... it will definitely include some new gear! Cheers! 🌞✌
Great job! I really enjoyed this video series. Excellent decision to double back and see the rest of the San Rafael Reef. Such a magical part of Utah. I am glad to see you incorporated San Rafael into one of your long hikes. Hopefully one day you can go back and visit all the canyons north of I-70. Maybe combine it with a tour of the Robber's Roost Canyons area. There's not much left of Southern Utah that you have not seen. Stay healthy my friend. I can't wait to see you go next year.
Thanks! Yeah, despite never actually getting to Green River (on foot), I'm really happy with how it all ended up. And yes I'm also happy I incorporated routes a bit father north than usual for me -- such a great area to explore. TBD what's on tap for me next, but I do have RR and the more of the Swell on my radar. Thanks for watching and comment through the full series. Cheers! 🌞✌
Jamal, if I could give you 5 stars for this series, I would. I’ve always enjoyed your videos, but this series was so much more enjoyable for me. Glad you made it all the way (close enough) and that you did it safely. I’ve been to a number of the places you visited, but you’ve shown me so many more that I can visit that I suspect it will keep me busy for a while. THANK YOU! and I look forward to following along on your next adventure.
Awesome -- thanks, I really appreciate that! Probably about halfway through the hike I realized I was shooting more than normal and it was shaping up to be a great hike -- and thus the "daily" format idea was born. It did take quite a bit more work (ie hence not finishing until now), but... I'm personally happy with how it turned out so it's gratifying to hear that you and others enjoyed it as well. TBD what comes next, but... hopefully I'll be back out there before too long. Cheers! 🌞✌
Thanks! I'm actually considering doing a slowed-down and more-detailed version as a separate video -- possibly with reference photos to compliment the fly-over. I dunno -- I'm a bit of a map geek so I think it would be cool, but TBD if others would enjoy it as much. AND... I kinda need to get busy on 2023 plans, so we will see! Thanks for watching the full series and the comments along the way. 🌞✌
Loved the map at the end. Definitely a journey not as the crow flies! Looking forward to your (and my own!) next adventure. I've got itchy feet to get out this spring.
Thanks -- I might actually do a longer, more-detailed "map video" in the coming weeks. BUT... I'm also getting itchy feet, so I might just step away from the computer for a while and start getting ready to get back out there myself! Thanks so much for "following along" and the comments along the way. Cheers! 🌞✌
In my opinion, you are the most interesting backpacker on youtube. Thank you for sharing your journeys, for the beautiful imagery, and for your comments which add so much to our understanding of Southern Utah.
Thanks -- I really appreciate that. I know I'm not the fastest, or the most adventurous, or the most knowledgeable in some topics -- but I do strive to always have fun and share that experience with others. So... if that equates to interesting -- I'll take it! 😉 Thanks for watching and the comment. ✌
@@Acrossutah , you are one of the most candid, you own your choices and you don't complain about them. There is nothing worst than someone who makes a choice, turns that choice into a TH-cam journey, and ends up complaining about it. The drama is so silly. I have seen difficult realities, forty years as a humanitarian worker helping victims of war and genocide... complaining will not yield much, actions will. You act, you walk, and walk, you figure out your water and your food, you speak of the rock and the sky, the quiet and the wind, there is poetry in the way you journey across the desert. You inspire me, an old desert rat, to take on another backpacking trip, it will be Dark Canyon in one month. Thank you.
So I just have to say I love these longer videos. I haven't been able to hike for about 1 1/2 years so I really am living vicariously through this video series. Thank you.
Thanks! The new format was a bit of an experiment -- but I really thought I had enough good footage keep it entertaining. Glad you enjoyed the updated longer look at the adventure. I appreciate the appreciation -- cheers! 🌞✌
Thanks for watching and the comment. Not sure what my next journey will be, but... hopefully it won't be too long before I'm back out there wandering. 🌞✌
Thanks for the fun videos, my 10 years old daughter especially like the tumbleweed convention in your earlier video. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Wowza -- that's very generous of you Phee! Big thanks for the SuperThanks! Glad your daughter enjoyed that moment -- it was quite the sight. I love how some of the random stuff I see and/or say sometimes resonates with different people. Glad you guys watched and enjoyed the series. Cheers! 🌞✌
Loved this absolutely incredible series and the daily or every few days posts. Thank you so much for taking us along, Jamal. As I am a day hiker, you are so very inspiring to me. Lots to see in this big world of ours!!
Wow, what an incredible journey! Watching your Zion to Green River hike VLOG has left me feeling inspired and in awe of the beautiful scenery you encountered along the way. I can only imagine the sense of accomplishment you must be feeling after completing this challenging adventure. Thanks for sharing your final day with us and congratulations on a job well done!
Thanks -- I appreciate that. I was really happy with how this hike went and then... many months later, I'm really happy with how the videos turned out. Thanks again for watching and the comment. 🌞✌
Congratulations on your journey, and thank you for sharing it with us. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed tuning in over these past many weeks. And what a resource you are for encouraging us to get out there and explore! 😀
Thanks Davo! It was a long and winding road -- but in the end it was a pretty good trek IMHO and I'm glad to hear that others enjoyed it as well. Cheers! 🌞✌
Jamal, my wife and I have really enjoyed your journey. I love southern Utah. Many of the areas you passed through are places I would love to visit although on a much shorter stay. Keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing your journey!
Thanks! Hope you get a chance to visit some of the spots -- most really aren't that far away from common access points (ie one can see a LOT via day hikes in southern Utah.) Thanks for "following along" and the comment. 🌞✌
This was a great final video for your unbelievable adventure! I love the entire series and I anxiously awaited each new installment, but I'm glad you're home now safe and sound. 😃
Thanks "MEG"! 😉 The new "daily" format was a bit of an experiment, but glad that you (and others) seemed to like it and continued to "follow along" for the full journey. 🌞✌
Wowza -- big thanks for the Super Thanks! I always love and appreciate "beer"! 😉🍻 I know it was a longer series this year, so thanks for "following along". Cheers! ✌
Beautiful skies for awesome scenery on the last day of an epic hike. So much fun to watch, and drool over some of the places you went, as well as refreshing memories of places I've been also. Thanks so much for making the videos!
We watch TH-cam on tv so I didn’t remember to comment. I sure enjoyed watching the whole series. It really gave me a taste of Utah’s more wild places. Thank you for sharing.😊
Haha -- I'm hoping that that process is still MANY years down the line! 😉 Thanks for "following along" for the entire journey and the comments along the way. Cheers! 🌞✌
It was definitely a spectacular hike thanks for this series it was incredible we are waiting for you in 2023 with another super adventure crossing Utah
Thanks! TBD what I'll be up to this year, but... there's a pretty good chance it will include some wandering through the canyons of southern Utah. Cheers! 🌞✌
Thank YOU for watching and the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the series and hopefully Mr. Shadow and I will be back out there before too long. Cheers! 🌞✌
Thanks, D! It just felt "good" as I was out on the route and thus I thought it could be worth a more in-depth look via daily videos. All-in-all I'm glad with how it turned out and maybe spreading it all out over the winter was for the best. TBD what happens next. Thanks for watching and the comment! 🌞✌
Thank You, A-K Rambler! I really appreciate the SuperThanks "beer stipend"! I'm hoping to escape my cave soon for more adventures in the desert and work off the beer belly I grew over the long winter! Cheers! 🌞🍻
Thanks again Jamal!! It was wonderful travelling with you throughout the entire series. Your videos are always worthy of my time for their stunning scenery and your adventurous spirit!! Stay well, & we'll see you next year on an another adventure.
Congratulations on your incredible hike and video series! I always looked forward to your next adventure and loved your explanations, and pointing out different things. Excellent Jamal.
Thanks, Benita! I wasn't sure about the longer "daily" format, but glad that you and others seemed to enjoy it. I appreciate your appreciation -- Cheers! 🌞✌
beautiful, valiant, and of a man dedicated to the fulfillment of a highly unique & a highly successful endeavour - come high water or hell - this last episode was a relaxing denouement of your journey, you did it so well - 🍀
Thanks -- I really appreciate that. I was very happy with how the hike wrapped up, in spite of such a rough start to "Part 2". Thanks for "following along" and the comments along the way. 🌞✌
Glad to hear it -- thanks! TBD what comes next for me, but... it'll be something fun and likely involving some great canyons. Thanks for watching and the comment. Cheers! 🌞✌
Haha -- that's funny. I'm not sure what to do for an encore, but... hope to be back out wandering before too long. Thanks for "following along" for the full journey and the comments along the way. 🌞✌
Awesome -- glad you liked that and thanks for watching the series. I just returned from a new big hike -- so look for new videos coming later this summer. Cheers! 🌞✌
Wow! What an awesome journey. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I thank you for taking us along. I hope there is plans for another long hike and if there is, I can't wait. Cheers!
Thanks again, Southern Utah is my favorite, La Sal loop, Burr Trail, Glass Mountain, Lava Point are just some of my Summer hide-outs to escape this Texas heat. If you ever hear Long Canyon making something strange, it's me playing my violin inside Singing Canyon,,,,amazing. I'll keep some extra water on hand if you need some. Happy Trails
Very cool! Of all the times I've passed Singing Canyon I have yet to hear anyone singing or playing music there. I can only imagine it's a great place for it though. Happy Trails to you as well and maybe we will cross paths one day. Cheers! 🌞✌
Congratulations on completing this monstrous hike. What an adventure, for me, too! I love your new format and look forward to more videos. Thank you, thank you for enriching my life with your adventures. So happy to have discovered your channel!!! Hike on!
Thank you so very much for taking us on your adventures. I'm very glad that you went back in the Fall to finish it off. The daily vlog version was great too! I hope all is well. And if your out and about this spring in Southern Utah or Northern Arizona, I hope to run into you!
Thanks! I'm very glad I went back too. Even though it got off to a rough start, in the end it just felt right (even without actually going to Green River!) TBD on my plans for later this spring, but maybe we will cross paths one day. Thanks for watching and the comment! 🌞✌
What an incredible journey this all has been. Thank you for doing this and sharing it with us; the logistics of that and all that raw footage to go through is a large task alone. Did you have a favorite part of your adventure? I live and backpack in Utah and hope to some day cross paths with you, Jamal!
Thanks! Yeah... I filled SEVERAL hard drives with media this year! 😱 I have a bunch of "favorites" from this hike. There were a lot of new-to-me spots that I'd been wanting to do for years -- Mount Canaan, Wolverine Canyon, "Beehive Traverse", Cathedral Valley, Muddy Creek -- and I really enjoyed them all. BUT... I also really enjoyed some of the places I'd been before and got to revisit (Barracks, Death Hollow, Upper Muley Twist, Little Wild Horse, etc.) And... all the random animal encounters: big horns, wild horses, elk, pronghorn, possible bobcat, scorpion, snakes -- so much more variety than usual. So... yeah, hard to pick a true favorite part. That would be cool if we did indeed cross paths one day. Until then... thanks for "following along". Cheers! 🌞✌
Your diversion made a fine ending to a fantastic series of videos and an awesome hike! Thank you for all of this Jamal. The hiking is impressive, but so is the filming and the editing. Great job!
Thanks! I was fairly pleased with this hike in general, but was especially happy with ending (despite never actually walking into Green River!) I appreciate you for "following along" throughout the series and the comments along the way. 🌞✌
Congratulations on completing your 42 Day Adventure! I have enjoyed every single day. San Rafael Reef looks awesome! I like how you added your mapped route at the end. Now, it's time to go back to day one and binge watch! Job well done Jamal ✌️😁
Awesome hike where you connected the Capital Reef to San Rafael Reef and all areas in-between. Starting of course from the massive Zion area. There're some cool areas to explore even in the area of that neat trail on your last day. Kudos for finishing in fine fashion.
Thanks! I'm pretty happy with how this whole trek came together, but yes in hindsight I'm really glad I got to finish it like I did with that walk in front of the Reef. Thanks for "following along" for the full journey and the comments along the way. 🌞✌
Thanks! Now that the videos are done (minus a possible recap) I'll be adding more detail/reference material to the site. The main track for this hike is already on my Master Map -- but I'll be adding a stand-alone version with more details soon. Cheers! 🌞✌
Glad to see you finish. I’m amazed that you want to check out diversions. The longer a backcountry trip goes for me, the more I just want to bore on through and finish. Good on you!
Thanks! Yeah... it's a challenge to find that balance at times. On one hand if I'm really close to something cool -- I can't help but take the diversion to check it out. But on the other hand I realize that's there's just not enough hours in the day and at times I need to keep moving. Some of the minor regrets I have from this hike are a few spots that I didn't explore more. But... next time! Thanks for "following along" for the series and the comments along the way. 🌞✌
Rock art just fascinates me. Thanks for taking us on this amazing journey and I’ll miss watching. But hey, cheers to ya until the next one! Keep on moving!✌️
Me too! Thanks for "following along" and the comments throughout the series. TBD what journey is next, but... very good chance it will include more canyons in southern Utah! 🌞✌
Wow! Fast forward 12 years in your adventures for me 😃 Man i miss Utah so much. Thank you for sharing your amazing adventures with us. Edited to add that watching you and Mr Shadow walk together (drone vantage point) is pretty cool!
The 12 years just flew by, didn't they?! 😉 BTW -- that's not a drone, but a 360-degree camera on a long selfie stick which turns "invisible" thanks to some software magic. I'm not anti-drone -- just too hard to take on a long hike like this. Glad you stumbled upon my channel. Thanks for watching and the comments! 🌞✌
Thanks for the journey Jamal, enjoyed the new format. Watching you put all these great places together in one epic long distance hike is just great! I've been to many of them on small trips. The reef is a big favorite of mine. Where we going next!
Thanks -- glad to hear that. I really was quite nervous about the new format, but in the end I think it was the right choice for this hike and happy to hear that many viewers did indeed enjoy the extra minutia. TBD what's up for me next, but... 99% chance of desert slickrock and canyons. 😉 Thanks for "following along" throughout the journey. Cheers! ✌
Adding my thanks for getting to follow along on this epic hike. The images of the reef are just stunning. Congrats on making it through, and please keep the daily vlog format for your next journey. (Pretty please? 😎)
Thanks, Judy -- much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the series -- even with the extra runtime this season. TBD what comes next, but I hope to be back out there before too long Until then... Cheers! 🌞✌
Hello, we are eagerly awaiting new videos from you!! And also on our trip to Colorado and Utah from the beginning of September. Greetings from Germany
Thank you so much for this series. I know this format is more work for you, but it was so much fun to follow along day by day, getting our Utah hiking fix vicariously through Jamal. And then the map flyover at the end...wait, I don't remember the Barracks. And what the heck is the "Great Chamber"? Oh well, just going to have to watch it all over again from the beginning! Starting...tomorrow! Entertainment for the next month: check!
You are welcome and thanks for watching! It does seem like a looong hike when thinking back to that first week. Hope it holds up on a second viewing! 😉 Cheers! ✌
Thanks! Sorry it took LONGER to make the videos than to do the hike, but... that's just how it goes (and actually maybe it was for the best to spread it out over the coldest months while not many people are out and about.) Thanks for "following along" for the whole journey. 🌞✌
Thanks! It really was one of my favorite hikes ever and while still hiking I thought I had more-than-usual good footage (and thus the idea of daily videos was hatched.) Thanks for watching and the comment! 🌞✌
@@Acrossutah I would enjoy a "feature film" version as well! :) The shorter video's make it nice to have something to look forward to being released. A single long video would make it nice to show to others that are not interested in the intro each time for a new segment.
Thanks! I am still planning on doing an all-in-one "highlights" video without all the minutia. It may seem somewhat lacking for those who have already seen the full thing, but it should serve as a good recap and introduce those new to my channel of the full trip. Again -- thanks for watching! ✌
Glad to hear it! I wasn't sure about the longer format, but glad that you and others stuck around to watch. Thanks for "following along" and the comment. 🌞✌
I watched this video a bit late. I was savoring the last one. Jamal, you did an excellent job (as always) with this series. I know it was a lot of work. Personally, I can't stand editing video and know just how much effort goes into it. Anyway, just wanted to say a "job well done." I hope you decide to continue to follow this daily format.
Thanks, Jim -- I appreciate the comment. I was really nervous about releasing the videos in the new "daily" format. In my gut I thought I had enough good content to make it work, but one can never really know for sure until sharing it all and I was worried I might lose a lot of viewers who might have found it to be way too long or self-indulgent. I'm glad you (and others) didn't seem to feel that way. TBD what's on tap for this year and what format it might take, but I hope to be back out there soon figuring it all out. Thanks again! 🌞✌
Thank you so much for sharing such an awesome trip! We didn't miss a day! Where and when is the next trip? What's up next? 😎👍. Best wishes to your family and Mom. Not to create extra work for you, a video of your favorite parts of the hike, the most challenging parts, etc..would be cool. Congratulations on such a huge achievement!
Awesome -- glad to hear the you enjoyed the series even with the elongated format. Thanks for the best wished. TBD what is on tap for this year, but... hope to be back out there wandering soon. I am considering some follow-up/post-hike content -- not sure what shape it will take yet though (video or blog post and the topics.) Thanks again for watching and the comment. 🌞✌
Yeah, it's awesome and I think visiting Goblin Valley was the first time I saw it as well. Slight nitpick from a geology nerd -- what's seen here is a "reef". A "rift" involves tectonic plates moving whereas this was created by generic uplift and erosion. As always... thanks for watching and the comment! 🌞✌
It’s impressive that you knew where the petroglyphs are in the little canyon just south of Black Dragon; I hiked in with the BLM ranger about ten years ago to document someone attempting to take one of the petroglyphs. Haven’t heard of anyone else who knows of those petroglyphs.
I'm a sponge for information like that -- think I remember it from a Kelsey guide. BUT... it seems to be gaining in popularity as I was surprised to see a kiosk with trail information at the spur road used for access. A sign stated it was built in 2019 as a project for the Boy Scouts. I kinda have mixed feeling about that and even struggle at times to find a balance of featuring some of these spots on video, but to not spell out specifically HOW to get them. Thanks for watching and the comment! 🌞✌
Haha -- now that would be a looong hike! I seriously considered making the joke at the end that I was actually going to Green River WYOMING! 😉 Thanks for watching and the comment. ✌
A great conclusion to an amazing adventure. After following along for 15+ hours its been a blast! Utah is truly a very special place. Looking forward to the next one Jamal!
Thanks! Was it really that long?! I haven't counted it all up yet -- but I do know they averaged more than I planned and took longer than I hoped to get published. TBD what I have on tap for 2023, but until then... thanks for "following along"! ✌
No problem -- I was really curious myself so I did go back to add it all up. It clocks in at just shy of 12 hours. That's an average runtime of just over 16 minutes for each of the 42 episodes. And in a weird coincidence -- it ended up being almost exactly 1 minute of video per each 1 mile I walked. 👍
Cool -- big THANKS for the Super Thanks, Robert! It's most appreciated and will definitely go into the "gear" fund for my next adventure. Thanks again for watching the series! 🌞✌
I loved following along with your adventure. Utah has a special place in my heart and I hope I can get out to see some of the places you saw on your journey!
Thanks -- that was definitely one of the more memorable sections of this trek for me. I actually padded my permit by several days for that section "just in case", but actually did indeed need the full duration. Thanks so much for watching and the comment. TBD what's on the agenda for this year -- but there's a very good chance I'll be back out there before too long. Cheers! 🌞✌
In my dreams I've always wanted to visit the Himalayas for a 3 or 4 week trek. Have you ever considered something like that, or is it too outlandish for you? FF
I did consider it once upon a time. Kilimanjaro was once a big goal for me too. BUT... over the years I've learned that though I really do like my "mountain" trips, my true passion is the desert so it tends to get most of my free time. 🌞🌵
@@Acrossutah The Himalayas are on such a tremendous scale that compared to the rest of the world, it's hard to see them as "mountains." They are in a different class altogether. I've watched your two John Muir videos several times and I always wondered why you didn't have other mountain treks. But I agree with you -- most of my wilderness hiking has been in south Utah, usually my first choice. However I must say my love for the mountains is undiminished! FF
Have one on me! Been following since 2018 Jamal! Again another great expedition and I really like how you broke this one up into days, was like watching GOT, couldn't wait till the next episode, The map at the end was staggering to see what you criss crossed! Gotta leave Virginia and get out there myself! Keep inspiring us Jamal, love ya man!
Awesome -- thank you! I appreciate the Super Thanks as well as the compliments. Glad you liked the new format and "followed along" for the journey. Cheers! 🌞✌
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your journey across Utah. Certainly a challenging and joyful adventure. The Google Earth flyover at the end was thrilling to see too. Any chance you would share your track? Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the journey. I'm considering doing an longer, more-detailed map fly-over stand-alone video. We will see if I can get it done in the coming weeks before I get too deep into dreaming up my next big hike! The general route is also now available on my Master Map on my site -- and in the coming weeks I'll be adding more detail, POIs, gallery, etc. Thanks for watching and the comment. 🌞✌
Thanks -- glad you enjoyed the series. I am really careful on the scary climbs, it those easier challenges than can sometimes sneak up on me (like the last swim on Day 39). BUT... that day served as a good reminder to myself to never get too complacent while out there. Thanks again for watching and the comment! 🌞✌
Great stuff. I watched every episode. It was a fun winter diversion. Thanks for sharing it with us! Hey, have you ever considered the Highline trail through the Uintas? It's probably too short for you, but you could add to it. Maybe hike from Manila to Mirror Lake, then on through to Oakley and then down into SLC? You love wilderness, and I think the high Uintas is the biggest chunk of wilderness in Utah.👍
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the full series and though it wasn't my intent to stretch it out throughout the winter -- maybe it was for the best. I was looking to hike the Highline a few years ago, but... something came up and then it didn't happen. I'd still like to do it, but I don't have as much dedication for "mountain" trips and thus they tend to frequently get pushed (also want to do a trip to the Winds and another Sierra trip.) BUT... we will see! Thanks again for "following along" and the comments along the way. 🌞✌
Wowza -- thanks so much for the Super Thanks! Very appreciated and will be put to good use in the "beer" fund. 😉🍻 Thanks again for "following along" and leaving comments along the way. Cheers to 2023! 🌞✌
Awesome -- thanks so much for the Super Thanks, David! I hope to put out a few more "recap" videos before long, but... I'm also VERY anxious to get back out there hiking. TBD where/when/what that'll be, but we will see! Thanks again for watching and the support! 🌞✌

Thanks! I appreciate you guys for "following along" for the full journey and the comments along the way. 🌞✌
Cheers! 🌞✌🍻🍕
Thanks for showing us Edward Abbey country. He’s one of my favorite authors
You are welcome -- thanks for watching! I didn't get into Abbey until AFTER falling in love with hiking in southern Utah and of course I quickly became a big fan. He definitely has a superb way of capturing that "essence" of the desert. Thanks watching and the comment. 🌞✌
Respect, respect, respect nothing but respect.
Thanks Jamal.
Thanks, thanks, and thanks! 🌞✌
What an epic journey complete with drama, twists and turns, cliff hangers, and surprises. Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks -- glad you enjoyed the journey and "followed along" for the series. Cheers!
Find yourself a good beer! Thanks again for the vids, Jamal!
Cool -- thanks so much for the Super Thanks! And... thanks for watching the full series and the comments along the way. Very appreciated. 🌞✌🍻
Cheers! 🌞✌
Wow loved the Google eye’s view of the hike’s journey. Mr Shadow kept along just fine😁
Cheers! 🌞✌
awesome series! thanks for sharing it.
Thanks! I appreciate you for watching and the comment! 🌞✌
The Reef was a beautiful vista for the finale. And waiting for the moon to rise! Thanks. Much appreciated.
I agree -- I always enjoy good views for the final day if possible so IMHO this one worked out really well. Thanks for watching the series!
Thank you.
Bummer. Don't want the hike to end. Can't wait to see what you have for us in the coming year.
Thanks! I'm just glad I got it all published before heading out again! 😉 Thanks for watching and the comments throughout the series. Cheers! ✌
Thanks for sharing this great journey cross southern Utah. Looking forward for your next hike. Greetings from the Netherlands. 😊
Cheers! 🌞✌
This series was so great. I'm sad its over but what a great conclusion.
Thanks -- I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I hope to be back out there before too long. Cheers! 🌞✌
Loved this absolutely incredible series and the daily or every few days posts. Thank you so much for taking us along, Jamal. As I am a day hiker, you are so very inspiring to me. Lots to see in this big world of ours!!
Thanks, Cathy! Glad you enjoyed the series -- even with its extended runtime this season. Cheers to getting out and doing more exploring. 🌞✌
Thanks -- glad you enjoyed the series and "followed along" on this longer-than-normal journey. Cheers to getting out there and exploring. 🌞✌
Excellent job Jamal!! Thank you for taking us all on a amazing journey. What a cool trip. 💯❤
Sweet !!
Thanks for watching and the comment! 🌞✌
Great trip! Thanks for bringing us along!
Thanks! I appreciate you for "following along" and the comment. Cheers! 🌞✌
Loved the series!
Awesome -- and big THANKS for the Super Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the series. I appreciate you for watching and the support. 🌞✌🎉
Glad you made it. And we made it thru with you. Good job, hours and hours of filming, cutting, editing. Thanks again and few beers for you 😉 Cheers!
Thanks! So glad you enjoyed the series. I appreciate you for watching and the comment. 🌞✌
We watch TH-cam on tv so I didn’t remember to comment. I sure enjoyed watching the whole series. It really gave me a taste of Utah’s more wild places. Thank you for sharing.😊
Thanks, Lisa -- glad you enjoyed the series. I appreciate you for watching and returning to leave the comment. 🌞✌
I live in Utah and I always enjoy your hikes and how you put together awesome videos. Thank you so much.
Cool -- thanks! I appreciate you for watching and the comment. 🌞✌
Love all these videos. Two favorites, fast walking Mr Shadow and Jamal's crack :-)
Thanks! Glad you watched the series and enjoyed it -- even with my "unique" sense of humor at times! 😉✌
Really nice work man! Congratulations on wrapping up. I enjoyed every moment! I’m waiting for the tab that says “Buy me a hip replacement?” Cheers!!!
Haha -- I'm hoping that that process is still MANY years down the line! 😉 Thanks for "following along" for the entire journey and the comments along the way. Cheers! 🌞✌
You are incredible. That is such a massive journey! Hats off my friend!! Thanks for all your efforts in bringing us along!
Aw -- thanks! I'm really a bit of wandering fool, but I do have perseverance so I'll take the compliment! 😉 Glad you enjoyed the journey. Cheers! ✌
It was definitely a spectacular hike thanks for this series it was incredible we are waiting for you in 2023 with another super adventure crossing Utah
Thanks! TBD what I'll be up to this year, but... there's a pretty good chance it will include some wandering through the canyons of southern Utah. Cheers! 🌞✌
💕 Jamal...Love all of your Adventures! 😊
Awesome -- glad to hear that. Thanks for watching and the comment! 🌞✌
Thank you so much for sharing these amazing adventures. Looking forward any and all VLOG's you make. Say hi to Mr. Shadow😊
Thank YOU for watching and the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the series and hopefully Mr. Shadow and I will be back out there before too long. Cheers! 🌞✌
Great job Jamal. Always enjoy your viedos
Awesome -- glad to hear that. Thanks for watching and the nice comment. 🌞✌
Jamal! Just seeing these. Miss you lots. You make hiking for weeks look like a bucket list trip. ❤
Thanks, Kim! Guess the "bucket" on my bucket list is filled with a bunch of sand from Utah! 😉✌
Best trip series yet!
Thanks, D! It just felt "good" as I was out on the route and thus I thought it could be worth a more in-depth look via daily videos. All-in-all I'm glad with how it turned out and maybe spreading it all out over the winter was for the best. TBD what happens next. Thanks for watching and the comment! 🌞✌
Beer Stipend! Thanks for the series into rarely traveled areas.
Awesome -- that makes me happy to hear that. Glad you enjoyed the series. Thanks for watching and the nice comment. 🌞✌
Loved this series. Beehive Traverse was my favorite! Can't wait to see your next adventure! Keep er Going!
Glad to hear it -- thanks! TBD what comes next for me, but... it'll be something fun and likely involving some great canyons. Thanks for watching and the comment. Cheers! 🌞✌
you can't see it but I'm holding up my lighter for an encore!!! Thanks again for all your good work bringing these super nice videos to us!!
Haha -- that's funny. I'm not sure what to do for an encore, but... hope to be back out wandering before too long. Thanks for "following along" for the full journey and the comments along the way. 🌞✌
Loved loved loved the final animation at the end showing your route! That was fantastic! What a great trip and loved the new ground you covered.
Cheers!
Thanks! Still working on my plans for this year, but... hope to be back out there before too long. Thanks for watching and the comment. 🌞✌
Thank you for sharing your journey with us ! It was a pure joy to watch you having so much fun . Greetings from Europe .
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the series -- I appreciate you for watching and the comment. Cheers! 🌞✌
Incredible journey! We’re sad it’s over but looking forward to your next adventure. ✌️
Thanks! I appreciate you for watching the full series and the various comments along the way. Cheers! 🌞✌
Hike on!
Thanks! I appreciate you for "following along" and the nice comment. Cheers! 🌞✌
@@Acrossutah Following along was the easy bit! It was a great series to follow; thanks again for doing all the hard work!
Congratulations on completing your 42 Day Adventure! I have enjoyed every single day. San Rafael Reef looks awesome! I like how you added your mapped route at the end. Now, it's time to go back to day one and binge watch! Job well done Jamal ✌️😁
Thanks, Wayne! I appreciate you for "following along" for the full journey and the comments along the way. Cheers! 🌞✌
YAY so happy you finished the hike! Love the mapping and route building you do on the site!
Thanks again so many great videos of very cool places in Utah! I am sure it that time of year again!!!! Get out there and make more videos!
Thanks, Barbara! Plans still TBD, but I hope to be back out there wandering before too long. 🌞✌
Congratulations. It was a great adventure!
Thanks! I appreciate you for "following along" through the series and leaving comments along the way. Cheers! 🌞✌
Loved it! Sad to see it end. But can't wait for your next big hike across Utah!
Thanks -- I appreciate you for watching and the comment. TBD what's in store for 2023, but... hope to be back out there before too long. Cheers!
@@Acrossutah 🙌
It's satisfying to see you make it to the end. I've enjoyed these so much!
Thanks -- glad you liked the series. I appreciate you for watching and the comment.
Cheers! 🌞✌
Hello,
we are eagerly awaiting new videos from you!!
And also on our trip to Colorado and Utah from the beginning of September. Greetings from Germany

Thanks -- new videos will be coming fairly soon now (well... a bit of a "re-run" first!) 🌞✌
Thank you so much for this series.
😉 Cheers! ✌
Epic hike. I can’t believe how long it was. You’re an inspiration. Thank you for all your sacrifices.
I hoped to see how you hugged the Jeep. 😆
Thanks! Sorry it took LONGER to make the videos than to do the hike, but... that's just how it goes (and actually maybe it was for the best to spread it out over the coldest months while not many people are out and about.) Thanks for "following along" for the whole journey. 🌞✌
@@Acrossutah the meaning of long hike was the distance. If it comes to episodes you spoiled us and we are going to miss you.
This series has been epic to watch! Thank you!
Thanks! It really was one of my favorite hikes ever and while still hiking I thought I had more-than-usual good footage (and thus the idea of daily videos was hatched.) Thanks for watching and the comment! 🌞✌
great series this year! Enjoyed every video and even the sections that had extra problems... loss camera's, out of food... Glad you made it safely!
Thanks for watching the full series -- I wasn't sure if it might be "too much", but glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!
Really enjoyed the whole series!
I really enjoyed following along. The vlog format was great, too!
Oh, and that cow pond at 19:21--now I can delete one of my "What's this?" waypoints in Google Earth. :)
Thanks, Udink! Glad you enjoyed following along and thanks again for the various suggestions along the way.
While on the way to Goblin SP, I was amazed by the Rift. A camping trip of SR Rift exploration is definitely on my bucket list. Love the high desert.😃
@@Acrossutah Ooops. I knew that. I stand corrected 😳
its been a long hike, but a good one, thanks for sharing Jamal
Thanks, Jeffrey! I appreciate you for watching and the comments. Cheers!
You can't stop now! It has been a great journey. You should change to title to Zion To Acadia and keep going lol.
@@Acrossutah Not sure if it was 15+ precisely.
I just did the math on roughly 20ish min videos x45ish days.
What's the next adventure?
No problem -- I was really curious myself so I did go back to add it all up. It clocks in at just shy of 12 hours. That's an average runtime of just over 16 minutes for each of the 42 episodes. And in a weird coincidence -- it ended up being almost exactly 1 minute of video per each 1 mile I walked. 👍
Thanks!
I hope that helps in some small way to get a new camera or tent or backpack or boots...Take Care!
Thanks -- glad to hear it. Cheers to getting out and seeing some of the awesomeness that is southern Utah. Thanks for watching and the comment. 🌞✌
Hey Jamal, Your Beehive Traverse is as good -- or better -- than any wilderness hiking videos I've ever seen!
Sooooo... what's next? FF

We are done. We done good. we are exhausted. we will sleep well tonight. See you next year!
But wait... there's more! Just kidding... for now. 😉 Thanks for watching and the comment. Glad you enjoyed the series. ✌
Fully expected it to end with the accountment of a continuation on to Moab via upper Arches.
Yep... the thought actually did cross my mind! Not to do for real, but to say as a joke. 😉 Thanks for watching and the comment! ✌
Danke!
DANKE! (did I say that right? 😉) Much appreciation for the Super Thanks! 🌞✌
Cheers! 🌞✌
I really need to spend more time exploring the Eastern part if Utah!
There's SO much to explore. Cheers to getting out there and making it happen. Thanks for watching and commenting throughout the series.
It is a great series. Thank you for making it. Please though, i hope you will play it a little safer on some of those climbs.
Saw the pizza and beer fund donation. I'll second that! (It's Canadian funds, so added a bit more for exchange). Thanks!!!
Wowza -- thanks so much for the Super Thanks! Very appreciated and will be put to good use in the "beer" fund. 😉🍻 Thanks again for "following along" and leaving comments along the way. Cheers to 2023! 🌞✌
Looking forward to the next series! I know you must be ready to take a break from editing. Take care, until next time...
Awesome -- thanks so much for the Super Thanks, David! I hope to put out a few more "recap" videos before long, but... I'm also VERY anxious to get back out there hiking. TBD where/when/what that'll be, but we will see! Thanks again for watching and the support! 🌞✌
