Guys this is the best video you have done this far. So much real world situations and tests, loved it. Also Chad awesome job asking the right questions and describing exactly what we have all been wondering. Thanks for testing and your honest feedback. Keep up the awesome work Rotor Riot. Happy flying yes more tests, lots more tests, range tests, how multiple pilots, etc.
Funny The last time I was researching FPV stuff it was Black Box. Now I find the best review yet I've seen about the Connex and Josh, the BB king, is the first review I see ;) Great review guys mine is on the way, my brain lags way more than the 30FPS :)
This video is a great example of why Rotor Riot is my favorite channel. Some channels are all bench tests. Some are all FPV videos. Some are all guys clowning around. But Rotor Riot has a great mix of fun, bench testing, screwing around, field testing (which few channels do!), honest reviews, and, obviously, the best FPV videos ever made. It doesn't hurt that everyone's such a natural behind the camera and behind the goggles. Great stuff guys and keep 'em coming!
Guys. The added "lag" you feel is not due to the lower frame rate. It's just extra latency due to HD processing of 720p at full bitrate. You're not flying 60 frames per second analog either. Yes, NTSC transmits 60 interlaced fields per second, but you're using CCD cameras that capture whole frames at only 30fps and LCD displays which display at 30 frames per second progressive (also whole frame at once). There's just less latency between the time the analog frame is captured, and when it's displayed. If you tried to fly with something like an analog Effio V camera, it would feel very much like Prosight in HP mode. Just extra lag. Otherwise your observations pretty much match my own. HQ looks great, but the added latency is too much for aggressive flying (freestyle, proximity and racing). HP mode has very little latency, but the light handling is dreadful. BTW, you should not have seen *any* breakups in the signal with clear LoS, especially at short range. That was probably due to the broken antenna (or antennas). I had a similar experience.
Dear Rotor Riot Crew, Just wanted to say thank you for being super awesome dudes and promoting quad racing with a happy and enthusiastic state of mind. I went to Drone Nationals 2016, the second day, and had so much fun. By now I have been flying for about a year and am currently comfortable to start using my FPV goggles. (Up to now I've flown LOS) I met Chad and had him sign my goggles, which was awesome. After watching you guys freestyle and numerous races, you guys inspired me to go home and push my self to fly better. Today I attempted my first flip and roll and was very successful, I didn't crash once! Thank you for making my summer awesome, that's saying a lot considering I just got back from 3 weeks in Europe and my birthday was a week ago! You guys rock, Owen P.S. Chad, not sure if you remember me, I asked you to sign my goggles inside the "aquarium", my Dad also explained how much he loved Australia when he was there. Thanks again for being super cool, your kinda my idol.
Please do more testing - all the things Chad said plus more. I watched a ton of reviews of the prosight but this was the first one that actually was of great help. Looking forward to the next episode, keep up the good work guys!
I know right lol Well maybe in ever episode(well maybe not every episode) somebody tends to give him shit about him flying mode 1 it's like the old saying ''The nail that sticks out is the one that gets hammered''
Great review guys!! Can't believe you guys were in my backyard for this episode. I live less than a mile from here. This technology- the future? Dynamic range seems AMAZING! For sure MORE real world testing would be greatly appreciated!
Guys, thanks for a great review. Many points taken, and will certainly be working on it. Charles, cool setup on your quad, was glad to see ProSight still working like that with one antenna down.
Aw some to see vendors engaging. If you guys let the RR guys test these out in a race situation with 6-8 pilots it might help drive home a huge benefit versus the surrender analog setups, which are plain horrible at races. Solid video could change the racing game. It would be great to see a demo to illustrate that.
@5:55 Citation needed. According to the manual, the device supports FCC and HAM compliant modes and I didn't see anything indicating Part 15 FCC compliance, presumably because of the HAM mode.
10:18 - 10:22 If you look carefully when his troubles showed up, his power voltage was critical, i think he just lost signal because he did not check out his LIPO voltage, no more juice like it happened to Chad at 17:35...
Thanks guys... Been waiting for this. I'd definitely like to see more extensive testing with your points of view see if it gets better with experience.
great video guys! your episodes are getting better every week. im also flying with prosight and got the same breakup as you did and still trying to figure out what causes it. was not an analog signal or the distance, as i was flying alone and the quad was basically beside me. it does not happen that much if you fly with fixed frequency. the 30fps feel is not "natural" at first but you will get used to it ... and the better picture kills it all.
Loved the video!! Great insight on how you guys test new tech coming into the hobby. Great feedback without bashing the crap out of it like some people would. Would love to see more of that!
I would like to see more videos like this about new products. You guys are always the first to see and touch new products and its nice to see a review from top pilots rather than Billy Bob whos been flying for 3 months trying to tell you if a product is good or not.
thank you for the test.. and yes please more test... it looks like the technology is close but just not quite there yet but I am very excited to see it in the works.
You guys should look into flying the goat canyon trestle in the deserts east of San Diego. It's abandoned, it's HUGE (largest curved trestle in the world), and it's secluded. Heck of a hike to get in there, but would make an EPIC day of flying. There's also a bunch of railroad tunnels to shoot - some up to 150 feet and curved. Keep up the great episodes!
Yess!! Please continue to test this. I would love to see a distance test compared to a 600mw analog vtx.......Oh and great video as always. I love rotor riot mondays!!
one of the best episodes yet, very informative great real world review, guess its safe to say its just not there yet for racing or freestyling, but im sure it will find its place in the market. Great job guys!
Surprisingly good for early tech. Since there is an apparent data budget with the 720p30 vs 720i60 I would love to see a 480p60 mode where the extra data is used for image redundancy to extend range / reduce breakup.
Thanks for another informative video! I'd love to see more stress tests for the ProSight. Probably won't buy into this first gen of HD links, but I'm keeping an eye on them!
Nice real world testing!! I would love to see you guys really put this product to the test!! Do some actual racing with analog in the mix!! I'm still waiting for people to say that they have completely changed over to using this product 100% of the time before I pull the trigger!
I wonder if the ProSight has channel hopping, much like a wireless router in auto channel mode. This would explain intermittent interference when introduced to another signal. If so pre-selecting an unused channel if possible might resolve the any interference issues. Also pre-selecting 100mw mode persistent may also help as the adjustment may not be quick enough for sudden signal degradation vs the gradual degradation of just getting further away.
Great review I am a newbie and have been looking at the whole package with the Falcor quad Still a bit undecided but it looks like it is a good one to get up and racing around right out of the box
I agree with Chad 100%, I would love to put this on my 450 quad for cruising and getting some nice AP but it's another couple of revisions away from being mini quad acceptable...I wouldn't even put it on a wing because the range is only 1500 feet I believe?
Real world testing of technical limits of the hardware you guys use, I think, is a great idea. It would allow others to know what to expect when getting into the field.
I'd really like to see more of the HD technology. It's very intriguing to me because I know a lot of people that won't get into it until HD equipment is cheaper. I personally fly analogue and don't mind the quality at all because I can go back and watch the footage from my other camera later.
im sure its dull to film for you guys but the reviews every now and then are great. even the talk comparing your setup to this gives in site to both systems.
When you do the in depth review, be sure to include the weight difference and battery drain vs analogue - I'm curious to know if the quad would be giving up flight time, and I'd so how much.
Nice video and comparison! The Connex ground station is a tad big, I'm sure an analogue system would benefit from a truck mounted Yagi antenna as well.
possible direction for future tests, different goggles. Compare whatever these were with fatshark, headplay, etc. How much of the feeling and fov comments were due to the different goggles and how much the camera+link. Also how well does it interop with analog if you manually set frequencies (both in the normal bands and outside).
All the scientific testing, the painstaking integration and the serious brain power involved in moving our video from analog to digital is greatly appreciated. Once fully vetted, digital video will open up a whole world of better possibilities for FPV and external viewers. What was done here is so much more close to where the rubber meets the road, this is exactly what we need to see and how it works in the environments we fly and with the people we fly with. Thanks Rotor Riot!
Very informative session (warts and all without the manufacturer marketing hype that you sometimes have to put up with in these type of "test" vids). Well done.
More tests please. Zero/low latency HD fpv is the future..... since the first time I flew analog I've longed for a zero latency HD fpv setup. I mean who wouldn't want 1080 details and crispness while flying zero latency am I right??? For this "sport" to grow HD fpv setups are a MUST for both pilots and spectators. Thank for your honest reviews, looking forward to more.
Honest video. Would like to see more "weak" points testing. What's the reason for camera disconnection... What's it going to do while flying with multiple high powered 600mW analog VTX's at a distance.. etc.
Honest review and great comparison vs analog! Thanks, just wondering if you could do a head to head of the 5.8 modules for Fatshark goggles including the new diversity units.
What should analog pilots expect when they go to races where the Connex system may show up? Did you test for any interference on the analog sets caused by the digital broadcasts? Are race organizers going to have additional VTX headaches due to these systems? As you mentioned in the video, its not going to be a quick migration, if ever, for all racing pilots to move to this system.
Great episode guys, From this and other reviews I've seen its not realy a big leap or even a viable option for racing ect , sure it would be good for Ap work but the range and quality seems to be better on a phantom 4 so the technology coming 12 months and I'm sure it will be much better I read they are adding another mode in between the hq and the Hp modes that might help
Hi RR team, just a thought about the diversity antennas, I thought the antennas should be set each at different angle to get good reception in all quad orientations, I maight be wrong too. Like the video good stuff.
Has anyone thought about the cut off problem could be from a truckers very powerful CB radio . I have a buddy that lives next to me and I was flying while he keyed the radio it caused my analog video to cut out on me.
You have 5 rubber ducky antennas there. If you point all of them up then diversity is doing absolutely nothing. How about if you cover all 3 axis and 2x 45deg? would this eliminate freezing issue? The range at which freezing happens is really putting off, especially when you consider the price-tag of Connex system...
yes, I would like to see another video with 4 of the connex flying at the same time. Put it in 60 fps and race. And throw a couple analogs in there too. See how many you can have at one time. And I wish steele was there too, I know he was very leary of the prosight. It would be great to see what he says about it.
So I have watched this vid a few times. When Kanoodle first flight flying and Chad plugged in near him It looks like he crashed due to low battery on the osd. When kanoodle was flying you can see his battery voltage dropping dramatically. Looks like it has nothing to due with powering on interference and he just wasn't paying attention to the osd, or bad battery that they thought was fully charged. Other blackouts could just be the damaged quad antenna. Just ordered and waiting for my Connex. Finally caved plus the $100 off pushed me. I will put it to the freestyle test. Racing with it is a no brainer.
I would be worried that the interlace mode (720i60) flown fast and low (racing?) would show the typical interlace problems with the picture beeing "half updated" and "torn"... not sure how to describe it :D
Nice job Christian! My main issue with the Connex is that you need a tripod for the receiver, and I just love the portability of FatSharks. Say, I challenge RotorRiot to have a Tiny Whoop competition? What do you say?
I would absolutely to see more in depth testing for this or other (if there is any?) digital setup! Would really like to try out digital... But afraid that it is just quite not there yet??? At 500$ the kit... It better work well?
Guys this is the best video you have done this far. So much real world situations and tests, loved it. Also Chad awesome job asking the right questions and describing exactly what we have all been wondering. Thanks for testing and your honest feedback. Keep up the awesome work Rotor Riot. Happy flying
yes more tests, lots more tests, range tests, how multiple pilots, etc.
Really good episode. Great testing and reviewing. This is the first commentary on the Connex that I feel like accurately captured its pro's and con's.
They could avoid static by not using auto, rest was indeed quite spot on.
AMEN :)
agreed, really nice walk through with some interesting thoughts.
Funny The last time I was researching FPV stuff it was Black Box. Now I find the best review yet I've seen about the Connex and Josh, the BB king, is the first review I see ;)

Another who agrees completely, great stuff.

Hey mate, I remember you. Glad you had a great time :)
Best rotorriot episode ever...no Steele! Tommy and Chad are natural presenters and not boring at all to watch. Please keep it that way!
Thanks for a straight forward, honest, no fluff look at this system. Nice job.
Please do more testing - all the things Chad said plus more. I watched a ton of reviews of the prosight but this was the first one that actually was of great help. Looking forward to the next episode, keep up the good work guys!
13:56 Good one lol!
Cool episode I'm been curious about it glad you guys finally got around to giving it a shot it.
chad looked pretty pissed off at that joke lol
I know right lol Well maybe in ever episode(well maybe not every episode) somebody tends to give him shit about him flying mode 1 it's like the old saying ''The nail that sticks out is the one that gets hammered''

Guys, thanks for a great review. Many points taken, and will certainly be working on it.
Charles, cool setup on your quad, was glad to see ProSight still working like that with one antenna down.
why dont you get team black sheep to design an antenna like the triumph but tuned for 5ghz
I heard IBcrazy mention in a podcast he's working on it ATM. BTW IBcrazy designed the triumph antenna and TBS pays royalties for each unit sold.
Dear Rotor Riot crew, we don't know how to say thanks to you. You're awesome, incredible, brilliant! Thank you so much for inspiring us!
I like chad stepped in with info and his input he keep it as real as he could
Very nice guys... The "ding" at 8:09 made me check my phone... Lol!
We would love to watch more on the Connex Prosight . Great video , I can see this being the future of FPV. Thank you for this !
@5:55 Citation needed. According to the manual, the device supports FCC and HAM compliant modes and I didn't see anything indicating Part 15 FCC compliance, presumably because of the HAM mode.
The content is so professional and great the channel deserves at least 10 times its current subscriber count
Looking at the part where they were doing an interference test. When it blacked out, i noticed that the battery dipped to 5.5 volts then cut out.
great video guys! your episodes are getting better every week.
im also flying with prosight and got the same breakup as you did and still trying to figure out what causes it.
was not an analog signal or the distance, as i was flying alone and the quad was basically beside me.

Nice review. I have a HD setup too and 30fps is a bit weird with fast motion.
thank you for the test.. and yes please more test... it looks like the technology is close but just not quite there yet but I am very excited to see it in the works.
Awesome content, really well put together episode. Thank you for the time and energy you all put into making it.
Def want to see some distance testing and real world mix of racing and freestyle with this setup. Thanks for doing this!
Yes, more pro sight reviews! You guys will help bring attention to the product, it's pros and cons, thus maybe inspiring a better Gen 2 :)
Great video. Just finished my 180, 160, and 400 quad.
Lol this is so funny to look back on
Now that digital FPV has come so far.
Yess!! Please continue to test this. I would love to see a distance test compared to a 600mw analog vtx.......Oh and great video as always. I love rotor riot mondays!!
Perfect video and review that´s what I was hoping to see, thank you guys
The noise looks much better now in HD.
one of the best episodes yet, very informative great real world review, guess its safe to say its just not there yet for racing or freestyling, but im sure it will find its place in the market. Great job guys!
Good exposure. Thanks guys.
That Blackouts on Connex, We had that during D1 in Shenzen..... most blackouts happens above water and most took a dunk into the river.....
Definitely enjoyed watching! I'd love to see you guys run the Connex a bit more. Feedback from you lot could do a deal of good.
Nice meeting you guys at the drone national yesterday. You guys rock.
Another great Vid!!! Can we get 2 a week....I'm always wanting more Rotor Riot!!!! Thanks Guys!

Nice real world testing!! I would love to see you guys really put this product to the test!! Do some actual racing with analog in the mix!! I'm still waiting for people to say that they have completely changed over to using this product 100% of the time before I pull the trigger!
Thank you all so very much for your honesty =) Shows real character, bravo. Fly shiny and chrome into Valhalla! o7
Looks interesting but I'm wondering, would the signal be improved if you swap out the straight antennae for Omnidirectional antennae ?
Hope this is gonna be the future of fpv, great review!
Definitely need to see more testing!
I wonder if the ProSight has channel hopping, much like a wireless router in auto channel mode. This would explain intermittent interference when introduced to another signal. Nice review guys. Came at a really good time to
Great review I am a newbie and have been looking at the whole package with the Falcor quad Still a bit undecided but it looks like it is a good one to get up and racing around right out of the box
Yes, more tests with pro sight please!
I agree with Chad 100%, I would love to put this on my 450 quad for cruising and getting some nice AP but it's another couple of revisions away from being mini quad acceptable...I wouldn't even put it on a wing because the range is only 1500 feet I believe?
Great test guys! I've been interested in this HD FPV gear to see what it looks like and this was a cool review, nice job! 👊👊😁
Real world testing of technical limits of the hardware you guys use, I think, is a great idea. It would allow others to know what to expect when getting into the field.
Perfect review! Thanks guys! !
i like the googles were can i buy some the green allen looking ones
Yes, more reviews on the Connex guys!
I think it would be great for fixed wing. Great video! Thank you!
I'd really like to see more of the HD technology. It's very intriguing to me because I know a lot of people that won't get into it until HD equipment is cheaper. I personally fly analogue and don't mind the quality at all because I can go back and watch the footage from my other camera later.
im sure its dull to film for you guys but the reviews every now and then are great. even the talk comparing your setup to this gives in site to both systems.
yep a range test would be nice, great show as usual
When you do the in depth review, be sure to include the weight difference and battery drain vs analogue - I'm curious to know if the quad would be giving up flight time, and I'd so how much.
Nice video and comparison! The Connex ground station is a tad big, I'm sure an analogue system would benefit from a truck mounted Yagi antenna as well.

After watching your video it appears there is more work that needs to be done to get us all there.
HD is where we need to be. But if it's not there yet it's not there. Thank for your honest reviews, looking forward to more.
Honest video. Would like to see more "weak" points testing. What's the reason for camera disconnection... What's it going to do while flying with multiple high powered 600mW analog VTX's at a distance.. etc.
That is sick mate. That rite there is the future of fpv quality 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
great video thanks for a non biased review you are honest I was looking at getting one but I will weight intel they get the bugs worked out first gen
Yes please! More vids like these.
Guys thanks for the honest review. Cant vait for ver 2.0 of this system and hopefully a reduced cost as well
Yes test more of the system!
It's 2am here and just before sleeping, a rotor riot video is uploaded! Way to ruin my sleep, RR :'(
👍
Honest review and great comparison vs analog! Thanks, just wondering if you could do a head to head of the 5.8 modules for Fatshark goggles including the new diversity units.
What should analog pilots expect when they go to races where the Connex system may show up? Did you test for any interference on the analog sets caused by the digital broadcasts?
I'm thinking some better antennas i would try a full range of whatever you can throw at it
i wonder if different goggles or camera lense could effect the screen ratio any. the cheap echine vr007 goggles have an option to change screen ratio.
Has anyone thought about the cut off problem could be from a truckers very powerful CB radio . I have a buddy that lives next to me and I was flying while he keyed the radio it caused my analog video to cut out on me.
y'all were under the interstate
You have 5 rubber ducky antennas there. If you point all of them up then diversity is doing absolutely nothing. How about if you cover all 3 axis and 2x 45deg? would this eliminate freezing issue? The range at which freezing happens is really putting off, especially when you consider the price-tag of Connex system...
Get yourself some crossfires and a pair of orqas
yes, I would like to see another video with 4 of the connex flying at the same time. Put it in 60 fps and race. And throw a couple analogs in there too. See how many you can have at one time. And I wish steele was there too, I know he was very leary of the prosight. It would be great to see what he says about it.

Great work guys, thanks!
Nice job Christian! My main issue with the Connex is that you need a tripod for the receiver, and I just love the portability of FatSharks.
Say, I challenge RotorRiot to have a Tiny Whoop competition? What do you say?
More! I'm really interested in digital feeds.
great review, been interested to see the current state of top tier video tx rx equipment.
great job with the connex review!
Are you guys coming to the RMRC FPV Fest in Willard Ohio?
I would absolutely to see more in depth testing for this or other (if there is any?) digital setup! Would really like to try out digital... But afraid that it is just quite not there yet??? At 500$ the kit... It better work well?
Love the Technics T-Shirt Tommy haha :-)
Awesome, have been waiting for this. Thanks. Can you do a direct comparison to analogue version :-)
I'd definitely like to see some range testing with HD Connex.
Hah watching the video and my son comes running up when Chad went on about Minecraft ;)
That was a good watch ⌚️Thanks for the knowledge.
