    I've liked using that "speed bag" effect too, back in the 80's, but I never heard it called that. I like that name.

    I learn so much from you! I never heard of a "lip out" embouchure, but the idea sounds brilliant. I wonder if I can overcome 40 years of practice to try it.

    In the speedbag effect, I'm wondering how much tongue movement is vertical and how much horizontal, and what it "rebounds" off. Roland Kirk used this technique also, I think. I've been wondering how it's done for decades, but feel no closer. A view from the side cutaway representation of the player's mouth, mouthpiece, teeth, lips, and tongue might show the tongue positions at each phase of the oscillatory sequence, to facilitate imitation. If any of the positions are a stretch for the player, it's likely that he won't stumble onto it on an early try at random positions. The muscles of the tongue may need special conditioning to easily move in the way or ways needed. Not knowing precisely what those ways are compounds the problem. Special tips on conditioning exercises for this unknown movement might help some. Thanks for a great lesson; your material has helped me a lot.

    Sirvalorsax, you give great instructions on all of your videos that I have seen. I get the speed bag effect, but I don't understand exactly how to do it. Do you let your tongue rattle freely or are you
    letting it touch tip and a little from the tip one step at a time? In other words moving your tongue that fast....tip and behind? I notice if I can make my tongue raddle if I just blow and let it go free.

    Adrien, somewhere along the way, I lost my ability to flutter tongue; it’s like it feels tighter/shorter than when I was young. I try it here and there, both with mouthpiece in and also without, but so far not much progress.

    When using the lip out embouchure, are we still need to put some lower lip on the top of the bottom teeth? Or do we just support the reed fully with our lower lip? Thanks man

    • @Sirvalorsax
      @Sirvalorsax  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. You are using less lip under the teeth while also relaxing the lower lip pressure.
