Ooooo I’ve needed this cause I’m doing the Ibert Concertino soon. Doubt it’ll be good enough for concert, but definitely looking forward to it. I definitely have a similar experience so far with the frustrations of learning to slap tongue.
Thanks for attempting to explain your learning process. I can feel the suction but can't make it pop yet. Heard some people for whatever reason can never get this down. Hope I'm not one. Kind of feel like must be like altissimo - I tried for years and couldn't do it. Then one day I tried change in taking more mouthpiece and not sure why but that did it - enough to get me started anyways. Looking for that specific muscle movement with the tongue that makes this happen.
Follow up - got the suction down finally!!! It just took repeating the attempt a few minutes ever day for couple of weeks. Now to get air through the horn - seems like that's actually the next big step since when you try to blow its difficult to do that and keep the suction going.
