"Martin had always dreamed of working for a big publishing company. "Cloaked Stars" wasn't huge, but compared to the tiny publishers he had worked for until then, it was a big step forward.
Commuting from his home town was out of the question, but the agency had found him a good and surprisingly cheap apartment near the center, on the two top floors of a peculiar building.
The first night in the new place was great and relaxing, he slept like a log and the morning sun that woke him up found him in a cheerful Sunday mood and anxious to take a walk around town to get acquainted with the new surroundings.
While walking in the park, though, he felt as if somebody was following him... like a second shadow, immaterial, invisible, and yet perceivable. The uneasiness that had crawled into his mind stayed with him for days, increased by the feeling that objects around the apartment were changing position, if ever so slightly. He started examining the place for signs of intrusion. That slowly turned - for no discernible reason - into a search for something he didn't know, until he found the documents...
What horrible things had occurred in that apartment? What did the presences that still haunted it want him to do? And, above all, what did they want to do to him?"
