Happy First Thursday of Spring, Everyone (in the Northern Hemisphere)! There's still some snow on the ground here in Appleton, but I think this week's light rain has at least a slim chance of making it all disappear. I hope so because my calendar says I am to start road biking again on April 1st. We shall see! 😁
I was not present for the recording of today's APTV, but I did supply the talking notes, so they should have covered National Puppy Day, National Cocktail Day, and National Pencil Day. They most certainly would have covered the new and gorgeous Esterbrook Estie Botanical Gardens, mentioned that Esterbrook Flex Nibs are available, showed the difficult-to-keep-in-stock Sailor US 50 States Hawaii Ink, and informed you that two very popular Magna Carta pens (the Prince in Slate and the Denima) are back in stock.
I want to personally thank each and every one of you for sharing information about your pen cleaning process and tools. I learned a thing or three and will implement some changes during my pens' next Spa Day! 💦
As for this week's question... let me open a drawer or two... a-ha! I have an un-opened bottle of Herbin Kenzo Takada ink that I had *completely* forgotten about! And that was only in drawer number one. I don't dare continue searching. But hey - it's like getting a new bottle of ink! 🙃Please let me know in the comments if you find a forgotten ink. This'll be FUN!
I hope you've all had an excellent week thus far and that you have some enjoyable plans for the first weekend of the new season. I will co-host APTV next week with Brian and then... LISA will be back in Appleton full-time! I expect we'll see a lot more of her cheerfulness on APTV for the foreseeable future. Yay!
As always, thank you SO MUCH for watching and liking and commenting. Never Forget: You're the BEST!! #thankyouthankyou

This was such a great question… I started going through my ink collection and was actually surprised to find I owned a Robert Oster Caffe Crema. I don’t even remember purchasing that bottle of ink! Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I definitely need to go through my inks more regularly. Now I’m off to ink up TWSBI Vac 700 with Caffe Crema.

I forgot that I have a bottle of Diamine Onyx Black.
I often get so wrapped up in colors that I forget how nice a black ink can be.

Thanks for another great show! The ink I forgot I had: Diamine Asa Blue. Whole bottle of it. How did that get in my cabinet full of 170+ bottles?

Digging deep into the ink drawer, I came across a bottle of Sailor Manyo HaHa. I laughed out loud, hahahahaha. I can’t believe I forgot about this ink. Just in time for spring! Hahahahahaha. I’m thinking I have to take a pen out of dry-dock just to put some haha to use. Thanks for the great video and nudging me towards the old ink draw. Cheerio.

Another great show! An ink I forgot I had was Noodler's Black Swan. A ink I use all the time is Noodler's Firefly. I use this in my Preppy Highlighter with a cartridge refill. The perfect highlighter that never runs dry. I keep two inked up.

My first bottle of ink was Sailor Manyo Yomogi. More recently, I have been using Diamine Aurora Borealis when I need a dark teal. So the Yomogi can get ignored for extended periods of time.

Six months or so back, I found myself hearing about Café des Îles everywhere I went on the internets. Podcasts, ink lists, you name it, Café des Îles was talked up. Clearly, the ink gods have spoken, I needed this brown ink. Fine. I had it in my cart at several websites (who knew where I would pull the trigger first? Not me!), I even had it on my ink list to buy if I found it at the pen show. Then when rooting around in my ink box looking for one of my purple inks... I found my new (probably) unopened bottle of Café des Îles. Woohoo! So I swatched and played with that ink instead of the purple I intended. I also disovered I have 2 bottles of Poussière de Lune. I have no idea how either of those two things happened.
I have also inflicted the bee joke on my whole family. I'm on spring break now, I can't wait to take it back to school.

I forgot I had Diamine Classic Green. Main reason for that is I use it exclusively in my green Sailor Compass, which frankly, I also forget I have.

Q: What do a dog and a cellphone have in common?
    A: Both have collar ID!
I don't have any forgotten inks. But, I just got a couple vintage inks to play with: Sheaffer's permanent Royal Blue from the 1950s and Sanford Pen-It Cardinal Red. Should get opened in April.

Aloha! Just found this podcast tonight(about 4 AM your time) as I was looking up how to clean my pens ! Timing is everything. I use bottled water but I remember from 20 years ago the instructions for cleaning my Waterman Laureate said to add some ammonia. I didn't because I think the smell is awful. More recently the instructions say just water, Have a great weekend.

A great way to celebrate cocktail day might be with one of Sailor's cocktail series pen....hmmmmm.....gotta get myself one. :) Forgotten ink.....The condiment bottle for cleaning a fountain pen is brilliant, gotta try that. Lamy vibrant pink, recently loaded my pilot E95S with it....am still torn, don't love it but don't dislike it either. Excited for the move, am in Cali but can't wait for the virtual tour.

Thank you for another wonderful APTv. You make me giggle. I had just gone through my ink stash the other day and came across a bottle of De Atramentis Ludwig van Beethoven Brown. I always wanted a good brown ink but still looking for the “one”. Take care and see you next week.

Hi Brian and Steph! Just catching up on everything-power was out for a while. While I didn’t find any forgotten ink, I did find that I am running low on a couple of staple inks and refills. Looking forward to the vintage pencils! Thanks for friendly podcast. I hope your weekend goes well.

Great show! Ooh, that Denima is stunning. I love micarta. That's a stunner for me most definitely! I saw that Steph, Brian totally missed the silica gel packet eating joke. I laughed! In regards to ink I forgot about, well I've only have & had a single fountain pen ink. However, I did recently find a ballpoint refill I forgot about. And, I just looked for it & don't see it, so when you ask this question years down the road, I can re-answer it I guess. Have a great week!

I wish I had a NOS bottle of Parker Penman Sapphire that I forgot I had. Unfortunately, it appears that I don't. This was my go to ink for many years, and I had bottles of it (increasingly rationed) up until about 2013 or 14.

Great show. The flex nibs look interesting. They'll fix the pens I make. Hmmmm... Steph should report back on the condiment bottle. Sounds like an interesting solution. As to inks I've forgotten, I don't have enough to forget. I have 3 bottles above my desk and 2 in a box. I guess I need to expand my collection. :)

    Love the beehive joke!
I have a roll-top desk and put some of my inks, by color, in the cubbies. So there can be four or five bottles behind the one or two (depending on size) that I see at the front of the cubby. I just found in my "green" cubby that I have Lamy Peridot! Such a pretty ink to forget about. My bad.
Thanks to all at the front and behind APTV, and welcome home to Lisa!

Being still new to fountain pens, I don't yet have many inks (including the nine samples I purchased from Anderson Pens). So I have not had the chance as yet to forget any of my inks. However, I have no doubt that sooner or later, I will have occasion to forget one or more of them.

While I can't really say I forgot this ink, it is one I haven't used in a while: Diamine Sepia. I try to rotate through all my pens and inks on a regular basis but with about 40 of each, it can take a while for me to get back to one. I also keep track of my pen and ink combinations and generally make a point of using different combinations each rotation. Finally, the Sepia was one I bought early on and had not really been overly impressed with with any pen with which I used it. However, just a bit over a week ago, I paired it with my Taccia Spotlight with a music nib and think now it is a lovely ink. The music nib brought out shading properties in the Sepia I hadn't seen before that I find most attractive.

Ultrasonic cleaners are big in the firearms community, so you can get a relatively big unit from RCBS or Hornady, for a couple hundred dollars (USD). They typically have drains and 30 min +; timers 😉

Great video. I would have liked to find an Ox blood ink but at the back of the shelf when I looked was 150 Confederation Brown Scriptus 2017 edition KWZ ink. Nice find for sure I knew I had Northern Twilight around but forgot about the brown. Some original Private Reserve Electric DC Blue in the pile along with Montblanc White Forest scented ink and some Diamine archival ink. I had given away inks at Pelikan Hubs and to a friend another dozen bottles but I still likely have ink for life still on the shelf. As to snow still 2 feet deep snow all over the lawn. The driveway is clear again though. Send me some warm air to the Prairies!

Wow - going through my ink stash - HA! I found two bottles I forgot I had - KWZ Gruen Gold & Pelikan Edelstein Jade. The bottle of Jade has never been opened and the KWZ ink is almost empty. I'm so glad you suggested to go through some old stuff - it was a nice surprise! I am also eyeing that new Esterbrook - just deciding on which nib....hmmmm. I always enjoy your shows!

My ink collection rivals my infamous notebook collection in size, but I have everything catalogued and I've just been reorganizing my ink swatches, so I pretty much know what I have. But I did just notice that I've swatched Diamine Macassar on three different occasions, and have purchased two samples and a bottle, so I guess I forgot I had that one. I know what happened -- I was on the fence about it (still am) and kept taking it in and out of shopping carts, so I thought I didn't have it. Then I grabbed a small bottle at some point just to get up to free shipping...again because I thought I didn't have it. Will I be inking it up soon? Probably not.

Hello! I have a bottle of Sheaffer Blue ink that has its color only identified by a blue stripe across the label. Not the old-old design, but still has a metal cap and a "bird's-nest" inkwell in the top. I have no idea where it came from, but I came across it recently when I was organizing my inks.
