    Thank you for another amazing, balanced review that has made me part with cash again. 😊 I have a high end Tube Amplifier, high end speakers and a high end headphone amplifier feeding the ZMF Verite closed. BUT, honestly feeding the 600’s with the Mscaler and the Chord Hugo 2 is the most magical experience of my musical journey. It highlights what you have taught me about the synergy / matching of components. THANK YOU.

    Great review, thanks. I love my ie600s, they are remarkably good for the price, and I couldn't imagine needing to spend more ( I also have Campfire Audio Sabers and FiiO FH5s pro). I have my ie600s set up through a Topping A90D and a Schiit DAC with satisfying results. For mobile I have an Astell & Kern SR25 which works well - but if I add my FiiO BTR7 to the loop, it sounds even better. The BTR7 really goes well with the ie600

    Another awesome review! Answered many of my questions as Im looking for a compliment to my EE legend Evo. Also, I sold my Meze Elite and got a Susvara....Quite a massive step up in SQ for my taste, im blown away running them running off my iFi ican pro, but I will miss the build of the Meze haha.

      Glad the review was helpful for you! That's interesting that you find the Susvara a step up from the Elite. They're technically amazing, but I've never totally warmed to them. Of course, source, genres and use of EQ (if you do) could all play a part 🙂
      What matters is you're loving them - that's great!

      @@PassionforSound 100% agree ! I think the ifi Ican pro is also a huge reason why I'm enjoying it this much since it has the analog xbass boost , which I leave on 20hz , and it makes the low end of the Susvara just perfect. If i were using a different amp, quite honestly I may have enjoyed the Elite more

    Hallelujah, thanks for mentioning about sources! I think the ie900 offers great value at its price too (don't have 600).
    One interesting thing I found for myself, is that the ie900 sounds eerily similar to an hd800s (on the same chain).
    Of course they are still different but, to me, it's like they shoved the 800s in an iem shell and gave it lots of subbass texture, then called it a day.
    It's probably not a common take but it was interesting to hear that they were very very similar, at least to me.

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's an interesting point about the HD800S. I can understand where you're coming from I think, but I never liked the HD800S that much because it lacks the bass extension and presence that I feel the IE900 has (extension at least)

    • @djhmax09
      @djhmax09 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PassionforSound yeah I'd agree with that (forgot to mention extension). Everything but the bass and stage were sounding very similar to me. They both are relatively forward in treble and the mids both sound natural to me. 800s still sounds different in that it has a sort of delicateness to its sound (perhaps due to the lack of bass weight and extension in comparison). Also both seem to be very picky with source. Haha

    Great review; one thing you didnt talk about was the wire connections. They look like MMCX, but they are made so most third party made MMCS cables wont fit. THIS is for me the reason, why I am still contemplating to buy or not.

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah yes, good point! I was used to this from the IE900s so forgot to mention in this video. It's a shame. You can get some aftermarket cables for these (I believe Toxic Cables have an option), but it won't fit your existing cables as you say.

    Slightly unrelated but I thought the IE300 is a stellar performer for the 150€ I got them for, paired with the new Astell AK HC2, even factoring the extra 50 or so for a balanced cable, I'm pretty happy with the sound. Apart from the stage size I can't think of much to criticize. Sennheiser really "upped" its game in the in ear market (I also love the detachable cable, great fit and don't mind the understated looks). I have yet to compare it to the IE 600 but it's on my list.

      IE400 is a meaningful upgrade. 300 is way too flimsy in the lower end. And 500 onwards the increments are marginal.

    • @andreasschwarz4908
      @andreasschwarz4908 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@morespinach9832 Depending on the DAC/Amp combination, I'm sure it can sound flimsy, but not on the Astell HC2 and it smokes any closed back headphone minus the Aeon 2 Noire and maybe the Radiance/Stellia and I don't have the means to test all inears, so it'll have to do for now.

    I always want to try high end IEMS but the one's I bought always sound small compared to full size headphones. Can you suggest an IEM that can keep the sense of largeness to the sound? or do all IEMS just sound like this and I have to get used to it if I want to use them?

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reality of IEMs is that you're losing the natural effect of the sound entering your ear canals from outside and the reflections that occur from your pinnae (the flappy part of the ear). Some IEMs can produce a larger sense of space than others, but they'll never really sound like headphones unfortunately.
      Probably some of the most spacious I've heard without spending a fortune are the 7Hz Timeless.

    • @harackmw
      @harackmw ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PassionforSound Thanks so much for the comment, this is something I have been asking about and no one else could explain it to me. Considering that reality, I am surprised so many people are into IEMS. Then again, I guess a lot of stereophiles don't get why many of us are into headphones, so I understand. I find it distratcting though, almost like brain burn in has occured and for me IEMS never sound right.

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah. For me, IEMs are reserved for portable use and when I need to isolate from the outside world because I prefer the headphone sound in general too, but I can definitely appreciate a nice IEM after using them for so long 🙂

      With most devices designed for 4.4mm, using that output will be slightly better so I'd suggest giving that a try.

      I think you'd probably need to use a brighter tuning filter on the FH9 to make the complementary instead of similar, but the IE600 is great so I'd probably grab a pair, give them a try and then sell the FH9 if you think it's no longer needed

    got a chance to demo the IE600 in store yesterday, boyyy is it a bass canon, reminds me of sony headphones like the Z7 and 7506. If you're coming from Sennheiser open backs then it's gonna be a shock to the system. I feel like cheaper IEMs like the ER2XR and blessing 2/3 does bass and even midrange better than Sennheiser. Their IE series lacks ear gain for some reason unlike their headphones. Anywho that's my impression, hopefully senneheiser can improve on this since I find their in-ear design to be super comfortable!

    • @PassionforSound

    With a good Chain, the difference between 600 and 900 is like Arya Steath VS HE1000SE. The 900 is Way more Fun to hear. Maybe with an Qudelix 5k the Diffenrence is smaller. But 500 vs 1300 euro is a win for the 600. But if Money doesn t matter i would always take the 900. i definitly recomment the custom tips!

      Even in terms of technicalities?
      I only ask this because the general consensus is that single DDs have a difficult time keeping up with multi-driver sets.
      Also , will a basic dongle be enough to make the IE600 sound optimal?
      Would be grateful if you reply.

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, the IE600 is also a strong technical IEM even though it's not tuned to exaggerate the technicalities like a lot of IEMs.
      All driver setups have their pros and cons. Multi-driver designs might be able to respond better to rapid fluctuations in the signal, but they bring challenges around coherency because of all the separate sound sources and the need to align their timing precisely.
      Single driver designs offer coherency in imaging that a multi-driver can rarely match without spending a lot of money.

    Interestingly, Dan’s Audio Reviews (who I trust) likes the S12 more as it isn’t far off from the IE600 and costs way less. I feel the same way hearing his sound demos, which are quite accurate with his setup.

    • @aceofspades6667
      @aceofspades6667 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would suggest watching 5-6 reviews and you'll get a wide array of opinions... Crin, Super review (Mark), Bad Guy Good Audio Reviews (HBB) , Headphone show (resolve & DMS) all have detailed reviews of the IE600 as well and most have the S12. Some will come down to your preferences so perhaps buy multiple and sell used the ones you don't like.

    • @EricRosenfield
      @EricRosenfield ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would think a major difference would be the planar timbre from the S12 which I don’t prefer. That said, I haven’t tried either IEM.

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      For me, the S12 isn't even in the same ball park unless you boil it down to maybe only detail retrieval or some other similar individual factor.
      The other thing to factor in is the source used. I test isn't the Chord TT2 and Mojo 2 mostly plus some other dongles, but the point is that I try to hear them at their absolute maximum performance, recognising that many of us won't use them with such high end devices. I wonder what source Dan is using because that could potentially be the limiting factor in areas like soundstage size, imaging accuracy, timbre, etc.

    Might get these or the IE 400's. But I tried the IE 200 and the eartips sucked imo, and had to return the headphones. The silicone tips were flimsy and didn't form a seal, and while the foam tips formed a seal and sounded good they were blocky and very uncomfortable to me.
    I had some Sennheiser CX300S earbuds from a few years ago and they were great. But Sennheiser changed the design and ruined those.
    Seems also that they use the same unpopular, crappy eartips across their whole IEM range, which is mind boggling. They invest all this engineering in fancy aerospace housing, and then give subpar eartips.
    If I could definitely find some good aftermarket tips I'd prob pull the trigger on the IE 400's. But not sure what would work.
    Got some Shure SE215's recently and those are quite comfortable, so maybe some Comply Foam eartips would be similar to the Shure eartips
