Dude. They were trying to stick with GTHD's original motive; GT4 but with improved graphics; with almost all of the iconic tracks from it. But somehow only Chamonix, Apricot Hill, and Midfield Raceway were able to come back on GT6 (with Chamonix in GT5). And notice how most of the cut tracks are rally tracks? Explains why GT5/6 barely have any off-road tracks. Tahiti Maze would've been a blast.

The letter "mu" in engineering terms stands for the coefficient of fiction, a unitless number that relates to the "grip" between 2 surfaces rubbing together. (A little trivia: The highest coefficient of fiction between any 2 surfaces in the world is rubber and tarmac, hence why we use tarmac roads and rubber tyres). What Polyphony Digital may have attempted to do was create a circuit with various surfaces so then a learning driver can practice the changing of car behavior on different surfaces due to the changes in coefficient of fiction.
It is very strange that a 2004 Hyundai Click Type R, which was exclusive to the Korean version of Gran Turismo 4, is not in the files of Gran Turismo 5. It was in the files of Gran Turismo PSP, but it was added to Gran Turismo 6!
I still have memories of being like 5 and seeing my mom wake me up at 4 am and letting me play gran Turismo 5 for the first time on either Saturday or Sunday
And also a hidden layout for the Special stage route X that loops around the original layout with massive banked corners and tube like structures. It's a shame they never put it into the game even though they probably finished it completely for the trailer
· The 1000 miles race would've been MUCH cooler in GT5 than it was in GT4. People hated the GT4 version because of how silly it looked with the 6-car grid and the really bad grids (most cars were shit and not equal among them). · The 2nd LM24 race would've been WITHOUT the chicane and maybe just for classic cars (330P4, GT40, D-Type and roadcars). Really cool concept but was probably removed because the game was already long enough and the top cars costed ungodly amounts of money. · The Daytona 4h race could've been done well if it was a sunset+night kind of thing, similar to the 2nd race Grand-Am had for the Independence Day weekend for quite a few years. · A 2h race for supercars and hypercars would've been really cool. · The Tokyo 300km was a SuperGT race in GT4, it's not a bad concept. · The WEC's 6h of Fuji can be over 1000km long. I prefer the format in GT4, with the older circuit. · The LFA and Evora could've been great GTE-style cars. I wish GT5 had had GTE-focused races, they didn't get enough attention! · The Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana would've been a fairly cool track for Lancer Evo-level roadlegal cars and slow cup cars.

These shorter endurance races should stay if you ask me-these can be participate for lower level players while the real-deals keep the same. And what's with the cancelled city endurance? Quite a waste... Would like to see the S7R made it...a Ford GT/Mclaren F1 GTR mix wouldn't be too much. Infineon is gone yet Sonoma didn't made it? Probably because of Forza if you ask me... Guess most of the GT4 and GTPSP tracks didn't made it due to the outdated scenery-you can't have the same Hong Kong course if the scenery is just the same as 6~7 years ago. Besides the rapid change of the buildings over the years, the first section has been overhauled into pedestrian so...guess that's why Seoul, Seattle and New York never returned again. Matterhorn? Piazza del Campo? Looks interesting. But no old Chamonix? That layout was challenging...
And more cars like over 1200 cars a mixture of classic, vintage and compact cars, k cup cars and supercars also I want a long career mode offline though no online orientated career mode

There's a "cut" car in the game but is only accesible in the XL Edition released in 2011 (but NOTE that will not work after 2.12 Update since it's files are removed after that), is a variant of the X2010 Prototype called "X2010 Prototype JP Flag". That was a variant with the japanese flag themed skin intended as a charity DLC by Polyphony to help with the victims of the 2011 Japan Earthquake but sadly Sony and Polyphony cancelled that DLC and remains only in that version (XL Edition). I owned the XL Edition of GT5 and I hacked my save game in order to get it and play with. It has the same stats as the regular X2010 car, the only change is the appearance (japanese flag skin).
Weird, the Gran Turismo 4 version of Circuit de la Sarthe is in GT5, but no other GT4 track was ever carried over to GT5. That could have easily gave more tracks to the game with little work. Shame that amazing tracks like Seattle, El Capitan and Seoul never returned in GT5.
I know it sucks all these tracks were cut... There excuse is "Tracks dimensions are off, Kerbs bigger than cars and Trees too big". Alot of thoes issues as still present in GT Sport tracks lol.
If you can change the camera in GTSport so that you can go wherever you want, you can see the leftovers of Route X, named the „unicorn layout“. It was supposed to be the first track of the Route X line

You forgot to add one more removed track: Special Stage Route X Infield. They were planning on making an infield layout of SSRX, but It got removed sadly... Go to GT5's Cutting Room Floor page and go to the courses section. Scroll down enough until you see it. There's even some Course Maker themes that were cut as well.
I don't know why they removed a bunch of events and especially these tracks. 90% of tracks looked decent even if based on PS2 assets. They could at least leave Seattle, Infineon, Valencia, New York, Tahiti Maze, Honk Kong and Citta di Aria
You can drive on these tracks with the Gran Turismo 5 Master Mod. That mod brings all tracks and cut content back that is hidden. Also there are gt3 tracks like Complex String 😁
If GT5 had all these events people would complain less about XP system because of the many races they would need to complete (I hope you understood what I meant to say).
Dunno why they cut the Italian Avard garde but it's a good event though, also seeing the Diablo NOMAD GT1 in this event just like in the NTSC J Version of GT3 A Spec
The idea of having only nine events per stage just so that it "aesthetically looks good on the screen" is downright outrageous reason. With the inclusion of 24-hour races (ignoring the shitty engine sounds), GT5 had a potential to be the best Gran Turismo ever, following the success of GT3. Even after buying GT6 on the first month of its release, i still keep coming back to GT5, because there's this feeling of something special with GT5. If only they never cut those removed contents. If only, goddammit.
Kaz once mentioned that they wanted to continue developing GT5 for at least two more years, believing they could have achieved much more with it. While some see it as unrealized potential, I genuinely believe GT5 is the best Gran Turismo game ever made, with GT4 as a close second.

No, They are leftover from GT HD, the development of GT Psp is different. They even came out to say they tested tracks but has problems with dimensions... Thats why they were cut.

Trial mountain, Cote d'azur, etc were ported, some tracks were even known as standard as the cars which were ported from GT4 used that name
A lot of tracks are in the files of GT5 like for example Seattle circuit that are drivable. With a specific Mod you can play those hidden tracks
There was also a road course version of Route X which was discovered around the time that Matterhorn layout was discovered.
