    This is a video of pure joy, I love seeing it! I have/had the same feeling when I discovered Shirogorov as well and took that first plunge. Can't wait for the full review.

    The Quantum is my absolute favorite knife I've owned so far. It's a joy to carry and use.

    That knife tickles me too. Happy for you bro. I am on the lookout for a Shiro F3 NS in carbon fiber. The carbon fiber scales, liner lock and bigger size just do it for me.

    I love my Quantum! I just wish the detent ramp was made better. There’s no reason for that double step action on closure

    • @Adamas11
      @Adamas11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. Why did they do that?

      Hmm true, it is unnecessary. But also an infinitesimal issue compared to all the good this knife is. I love the hydraulic drop shut action.

    Sounds like the Arius need to step into the Ring again. Quantum vs Arius!

      Idk how many times I can do battles with the Arius before people realize that the Arius always wins 😂

      @@beardedgear nah i disagree on that. Quantum for the win in my humble opinion

      I own both, and absolutely LOVE both. I own close to 30 knives, many of them expensive, and the quantum and arius rank #1 and #2 for me, with quantum being #1
      Quantum is ALOT fancier with the machining details. Better action, better detent, sits better in the pocket (my only arius gripe is that it rides a bit high in pocket)
      I like the quantum blade style a little more too.
      Arius wins for a more ergomomic handle, more fidget friendly (quantum sucks at spydieflick), plus I like the arius lockup better(my arius lockup is at around 30%. Quantum looks like its 5% or something stupid. Doesn't feel as secure)
      Arius wins for ease of maintenance. Can take mine apart, clean, lube, and reassemble in 2 minutes, and it doesn't even need loctite. I can flick and flick and flip mine 5000 times and it wont back off even the slightest. With shiros, if you don't loctite it will loosen itself in a dozen flips.
      But overall I feel the quantum feels like the superior, more expensive knife

    Every appellation under the sun has been bestowed upon this knife in some form or another, let’s face it it’s a gorgeous knife but, we do have that price tag which puts it beyond reach of most people so beautiful or not, most pockets will not grace this `looker’. Needless to say I’m green with envy 😄, thanks Jake for the video 👍😎

      Do it. It took me a long time to saddle up and drop the dough for one. Bought my first one from a guy in Russia back in 2015 and it changed my perspective on what a truly high quality knife is. I currently have five Shirogorovs but I've had close to 20 and I currently have another on the way. Spent probably $20k on Shirogorovs over the past six years and I don't regret it one bit.

    What tier is this if you will in Shirogorov. Can you explain to me how come some of their knives cost so much are they full custom ? Then the quantum I see more affordable like for around 700 Instead of like 2000

    You have fantastic content and you certainly know your stuff. Black or white answer please. I am going to spend the money and buy a high-end knife. But only one. Koenig Arius satin flat or this. If it were you and you could only have one which one would you choose? Thank you

      Customs fetch well over $2,000+ This one is a regular production model and are around $1200.

    • @TheStabbyCyclist
      @TheStabbyCyclist 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Quantum shown in the video is 'serial" or regular production model and sells for $1095. By the way, Recon1 is the main dealer in the US.
      Shirogorov also has their Custom Division or CD versions. The ones you found for $4000 are likely CDs. These feature more boutique materials, blade steels, milling patterns, and features such as their Single-Row Roller Bearing System (SRRBS). I will say, the prices you saw are a reflection of the rarity of these knives. Table price (i.e. if you attend a knife show and win one of the lotteries) is closer to $2000.
      Then there are Shirogorov collaborations with other makers such as the Southard RFT, Barker Hokkaido, Mayo Dr. Death, Sinkevich Kami, etc. These are not considered Custom Division knives but are definitely more feature-rich and rarer than the serial models.
      Lastly, there are Sergey Shirogorov customs. The easiest way to tell is the unique "duck foot" screw pattern. Sergey customs feature the Multi-Row Roller Bearing System, among other special materials. These are made by Sergey himself. These knives can fetch tens of thousands of dollars and are true grails in the sense that even if you have enough money you likely won't be able to find one to buy.
      Honestly, there could be an entire video about Shirogorovs.

    Free spinning pivot with loctite coming out of factory and scratches like crazy if you try to disassembly without a cloth in the front and a rubber backing under it. Oh and loose bearing, action is fine, but not worth the trouble IMO.
