    Thank you Chris. Nicely done , beautiful material and a lovely pen. I often times wish pens could talk and oh what stories could they tell.

    This may sound off topic, and I apologize in advance if it is, but I can't thank you enough for using Robert Hazard's 'Escalator Of Life' as your new theme. I know that I'm a few years younger than you are, but this song really meant a lot to me as a fifteen year old in 1982. And one who wasn't from Philadelphia, or anywhere in Pennsylvania. He really had his fingers on the pulse of life, the escslator of life, in a way that few had, at the time, and for our time now, and for the future. Nicely done. Cheers, my brother in vintage fountain pens, and timeless, inspired ideas, for the future...

      Thanks. The song has stuck with me since I first hear it. It is timeless. Keep your fingers inky.

    You have become my favorite reviewer. I always learn so much, and that I can get on Ebay or Peyton Street Pens and pick up a pretty good used Parker. Thanks, Chris!

    Aww poor Milo was crying for you during the video.

      More like whining. He wants attention when I am behind closed doors filming.

    I have a Challenger stamped "35" that looks like yours except that the clip has a ball on the end and it doesn't have that transparent window in the feed. It was restored when I bought it a few years ago and is supposed to have a flexible fine nib, but I've never inked it up. I do like that Robert Oster ink.

      Challenger pens had many variations. You may have a winner. Put some ink in & see if you like it.

    Great to see a review of a Parker Challengers. Some time back, I did a video on a related model: a very low cost Parker Duofold. In fact, for a while, I was confused what pen I had. Thank you for this view of a real Challenger.

    Nice restoration, I really like that resin. That ink looks a lot like Noodler's Air Corps which is called a blue-black but is clearly a green-black in use.

      Don't have Air Corps. Now I don't need to get it.

    I love your reviews! So through. Can you tell me what you use to polish a pen like this?

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Many products, first cleaning, then polishing pads, Simichrome, other polishing compounds then wax. Something I learned over time, depending on the material to polish, many products can be used.

    Great video thanks, may I ask, when restoring do you remove the gold plating if its in poor condition?

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. Many pen bits are gold filled. I polish off tarnish, which many times does not remove the gold layer. The tarnish could be from copper atoms migrating through gold to reach oxygen & oxidize. In the end, the metal bits look very good after waxing which limits future tarnish.

    thanks chris... it's great to see more than one challenger in the video... are those facets on the top challenger in your group of 4, or is it my imagination?... by the way, i have both a parkette and a challenger, both in green, and for the money, they are better than some of my modern pens... the celluloid looks great, they have gold nibs, they write well--hard to believe they were a lower-tier pen!

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The top pen is a Parquette and has facets like Omas & Doric pens.

      @@chrisrap52 very cool, chris... i didn't know this version of the "lower tier" parquette had facets!... in the future, i'll be on the lookout for one... thanks for the reply...

    chrisrap52, I have a Challenger identical to the one you're working on here. I just discovered that the button which must be depressed to load the pen with ink no longer seems to work. Or at least, the pen doesn't seem to be filling. Can you fix this for me? What is the name and address of your shop? If you can send a phone number by TH-cam, this would help.
