- Remember those long summer days spent at your Grandma's house? The smell of cookies and cake wafting from the kitchen? Then you'd run around like crazy and smack your head against a hard piece of furniture and while your head was spinning you noticed a delicate, ornate flower carving right there in front of you.
You didn't think much about it at the time but now, you can learn how to make it yourself! Wood carving can be simple, it can be easy, it doesn't have to be as difficult as it looks and you don't always need a million different tools.

My grandma had flowers on her bureau. They evicted her, demolished her house, and where it once stood is a bridge piling. Thanks for the memories, Clint. Nice carving.

I tried poplar.. it wasn’t bad, luckily I have a piece of Linden wood. I plan to carve stylized pinecones using the technique you used for the fish scales.
