28/10/24 like you I will try and save any bird. My kitten went hunting and caught a fledging brown song Sparrow. So far I gave mashed up kiwifruit and will give protein baby food. Thank you. You are a life saver for the baby fledging sparrow. Your advice is good
I see this is a little old but figured I'll try anyways. I just came into possession of a fledgling house sparrow today. In your video the bird readily took the food but mine is very frightened. In the beginning how did you get it comfortable enough with you that it would take the food without being force fed?
I know this was like 2yrs ago but I really need to ask. what does it mean if his poo is green and very liquid? I found his two days ago but for some reason he seems weaker and he would eat. I haven’t tried cat food but I will right now.
I did wet kitten food for 3 days and the bird was looking really strong but unfortunately last night he died. It was tough on the kids. They’re so fragile and no one knows what they’ve been through before finding them. I hope it works out for you
Correction... at the fledgling stage they can be offered water, but DO NOT force it down their throats, leave them alone with it or force them to drink as it can drown them. You can also try and get them to pick up their own food. Dont give nestling (few feathers, still completely dependent) water...they are too young and should get it from your dampened dog or cat food
I think my commentary is not gonna be of many help now. I just found a sparrow some days ago and it’s now that I’m watching this video. If it ever happens to you again, I would try to give him food with a syringe as I’m doing now with Gino. First, I have to open his peak with a nail. But now, he opens his peak alone. As to what kind of food, I’m giving him prepare food for baby birds with vitamins. I mix the food with water to get kind of a paste to introduce it in the syringe. Then, when he grows I’m gonna try to introduce him seeds although I’m thinking about to try cat food. I never did it before. I knew about it when I saw this video.
Same thing happened to me today while walking home. Thank you so much for helping save one more bird!
Me too😊
