Before my father died many years ago, people from all around used to bring him injured and abandoned birds, he was famous locally for it; he built shelters all over the house and garden and nursed dozens and dozens of birds back to health.
Many refused to leave and some migratory species we released would visit us every summer when they returned for years after we released them. The affinity my father had with these birds was incredible, they seemed to instantly see him as one of their own

Thank you for the kind comments. I have wonderful memories of my father digging up worms in the garden with our Rook called Rocky impatiently waiting on his shoulder.
He taught him to fly shortly afterwards and released him to a rookery near our home, we would often walk there in the years proceeding and Rocky would spot us and come say hello

I, too, raised a baby sparrow that had fallen with a destroyed nest during a storm. It had no feathers; I did the best I could and it bonded with us to the point it would not leave. Short story, it lived inside during winter--open cage--and outside during summer, again open cage. She would sing so beautifully; she lived 5 years--we sure missed her when she passed. To us, she was beautiful!!

Animals are souls too. Like us, they have thousands of lives. In heaven they are looked after by a spiritual master named Prajapati’til it’s time to reincarnate. Often they go back to the same person or family. They change species as well. Even Buddha recalled lives as various animals. Sing HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU to remember who u are as soul. The HU is on many YT channels & the one w/ the quotes is great.

I see this attitude a lot on these animal-related channels. It grieves me to think of all these people that have been so hurt by life that they view humankind in such a bad light. The truth is that there is evil in this world and people do bad things to each other and to other living things, but there are also wonderful people with tremendous love in their hearts. I had a sparrow that fell out of the nest, he was about 5 days old, My son named him Charlie, he lived with us for 3 years , we did take him outside all the time, he flew all over, and he always came back on his own, he slept on my husband-against his neck when he would come in from flying around, this bird was wonderful, he played games with me on my iPad, he came when I called him, then one day, he started making a nest around the light on the ceiling, I guess he wanted to have a family, one day, my husband had him on his shoulder (as he always did) to take the garbage out, Charlie flew around like always, then we don’t know what or where , but he did not come back, we were heartbroken, every day for weeks, early in the morning at dawn, I would go outside calling out for him, I think the neighbors thought I was nuts lol, (once, he did stay out all night, I guess he didn’t realize the sun was going down, he got stuck somewhere, we were so worried, I set my alarm for 5 am, I got up and went to sit outside in the middle of the yard, sure enough about an hour or so later, there was my Charlie, ❤) It’s been a while but, I still go outside a few times a week and call his name hoping he will hear me and come visit. So far nothing, but, I won’t give up, They are wonderful creatures capable of giving much joy and love, I miss Charlie …😢

Problem is most people do not learn squat from nature. but for some like this couple there are exceptions. We have a pet raccoon. Got him since he was a few days old we carried him around in our shirt pocket! Now 2 years later? yeah he "owns" the place. goes boarding in the Atlantic, climbs trees, he's everywhere. but he NEVER leaves our property. He has a huge cage in one of our rooms and no sense in locking it because he can open it from the inside as fast as we can open it from the outside so we just leave the door open (but HE sometimes closes AND locks it!). That's his "home" and where he sleeps (mostly in the day as they're pretty much nocturnal). They're neat as hell. When you give him something to eat he takes it with his "hands" and eats from there. you don't give it to him by mouth like a dog or cat he won't take it that way. He loves the water and has absolutely NO odor cleaner than a cat and "potty trained" himself at 4 weeks. and only does his business in the same place if he's indoors.. a spot in his cage. They eat just about anything even tobacco!

I love birds, basically all animals! Before having my dogs, I started caring for budgies & a hamster. Then after my tiny babies perished from old age, that's when I gradually transitioned to my small breed dogs. As much as I loved caring for my precious budgies & hamster, I didn't want to continue getting more afterwards because it's too heartbreaking when they die. Small birds & hamsters have a very short lifespan and my heart can't take the sorrow of losing them because their lifespan only averages 2-5 years. And most times, when they get sick, not much can be done to help them, even by a specialized vet. But when I see videos like Chibi, it melts my heart every time because it brings back so many fond memories & how much I truly miss & still love my babies. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Once I saved a kitten, took it to an army veterinarian who prescribed eye drops for her one affected, closed eye👀. She healed quickly and then never left me. Cats are so loving. ❤. I love cats. From Pakistan🇵🇰

Most sparrows don't get older then 3 years, but they can reach the age of 13 or even 15!
I really hope this little bird will live that long! 🥰

@@rattus3102 Thanks for this fun fact. I never knew how long sparrows lived. Hopefully, Chibi will reach the 15 year-old maximum.

I understand what it’s like to have an intimate relationship with a bird.
I just lost my companion bird who was with me 34 years. We were so bonded that we had our own language. I knew what each sound he made meant so even though he was able to say hi and wave and a few short phrases like uh oh he didn’t have to say much as he was able to use mannerisms & sounds to tell me what he wanted. He would often climb down off my shoulder in the evenings and stop at my elbow and bow his head, his way of politely asking me to preen his head and neck. Most nights he also would beg for wing rubs. He loved being the center of attention.
So there’s a big emptiness now, hard to imagine my life without him but I was able to give him a home for his whole life. Passerine birds like Chibi don’t live very long. Three decades with my small parrot bird taught me so much about how they think and behave socially. He got sick suddenly but it was a gradual process after 10 days he became an invalid, needing me to make an ICU/hospice nest for him and cared for him around the clock. He was still thirsty and hungry taking drops of water and some pain medicine the vet gave me to try snd keep him comfortable from my fingertips and favorite pine nuts and banana fed by hand. Every night I’d go to bed watching him snd thinking he’d be gone by morning but each morning I woke up he’d be there lifting his head up and preening the sweater and fur I wrapped him in so he’d have lightweight low friction and warmth. He kept lingering. He finally passed with the help of a mobile vet who was so good, solid grounded and compassionate, his head was in my hand, he slipped away quickly and wasn’t in any discomfort. I adapted my experience as a hospice nurse to my bird. He never had to be dragged to the vet in that condition. I live with 2 other birds who are also adjusting to his absence. I feel lost without him 😞
