The Eldrazi deck's days are numbered. This was the only Grand Prix of the three held this weekend in which the format's unholy abomination Tier 0 deck _didn't_ come out on top - and even then, *six of the top eight players* were running Eldrazi! In fact, across the three events, 14 out of 24 T8 decks were Eldrazi. That's 58.33%. And these aren't isolated incidents either - look at practically any other modern event in the past few weeks and you'll see the same thing. This is not a healthy format, and Eye of Ugin might not be the only card that needs to be banned.
I think i can disagree with eye getting banned. Eldrazi temple would be the better ban, as then the eldrazi deck would still be playable, but not nearly as good.
During the top 8 matches, Aaron Forsythe discussed about the situation with Eldrazi decks and modern. Basically, he mentioned that the archetype will definitely take a hit during B&R announcements when Shadows over Innistrad comes out.
+Trevor Mccord What's the problem? Constructing a deck that wins? You may like playing just to play, but a lot of people play to win. What's the problem?
I like your videos, and love the game, but why did you make it so that this one ONLY plays in 1080p HD? I can't watch it because it takes too much data!
at 16:35, he "tutored" for a card, its a shortcut i know but he saw the order of the next cards, if he has cards 1 ,2 3 and 4, and he wants card 3, he needs to put card he needs to change the order to 3,4,1,2 always scrying to the bottom, not 3,1,2,4 this way he knows what he is going to draw after the card he chose
+Bruno Alexandre You are right man! the correct is 3, 4, 5 ... 1, 2. and he doesn't know what is 4, 5, 6 etc. It is not a tutor, so you have to follow the rules
Daniel Muranaka de Lima well, as a final result of that combo scrying he will know an order of all cards in his library. He just cycles once through the whole deck and after that continues to scry till needed card is on the top. The only restriction is not to change from 1,2,3,4,5,...,10 (4,5,....10,1,2,3) to something like 4,2,3,1,...10
But he can repeat the process. So yes, you can say that, but he can just say he repeated the process once to go through his whole deck and see the order, then once more to actually pick a card. Unless im misunderstanding you.
+kira angle the rest got livestreamed and can be watched on twitch replays. But something went wrong with the stream between semifinals and finals so they probably wanted to get this video out there first so people could see
So I thought that if Wizards bans Thought-Knot Seer, the deck looses a lot of it's potential. All of a sudden, the deck slows down a turn, and becomes slower than agro- damage decks, like Elves. I guess this is a little biased, as I both play Modern Elves, and hate Modern Eldrazi, but these are just my thoughts.....
The prevalence of Eldrazi decks reminds me of the disgusting dominace of Mirari decks back in the day. You want to talk absolute headache galores! The year that deck came out it won every single event.
Steven Augustine Same. You know what though? I feel like Birthing Pod is actually HEALTHIER than CoCo. CoCo puts an emphasis on 3-CMC creatures, making anything higher just...bad. Reflector Mages and Thalia, Heretic Cathars are able to run rampant, whereas super efficient creatures like Gisela, the Broken Blade are all but unnoticed.
Andrewmeda Galaxy I'm talking about how he could have tutored for an Eldrazi Skyspawner and had enough tokens to sacrifice to drowner and tap his opponent's board and swing lethal
+Kel Tsang Abzan company isn't exactly a new deck. variance and a good pilot can still beat a deck that needs some banning to bring the field to an even playing field. 14 out of 24 top 8 spots in 3 GPs is too many
+Greg Bartlett it's because it was seen as the deck with the most % to win, why would you join to lose? In a few more GP, with the ban or without, Eldrazi deck will just mellow down to meh. But netdeckers do what they do best, copy and complain.
+Kel Tsang did you see how lucky Ralph got? 2 games and he got the combo both times. That's not highly likely to happen often.

Please get Gay Spartz OFF the coverage team. I want to stick needles in my ears when I hear her! She adds absolutely nothing to the coverage. Have her make a few Grand Prix Top 8's and have EXTREMELY popular drafts videos and then maybe think about having her. Until then, please get someone with either real MTG skill or real personality!
Ah the eldrazi winter, for some reason I miss those days

I love eldrazi, I know it will get kicked in the balls within the month, but I've already won 6 win-a-boxes with it, so whatever.
+Stormingcrow You're part of the problem.
+Trevor Mccord What's the problem? Constructing a deck that wins? You may like playing just to play, but a lot of people play to win. What's the problem?
I wonder how It That Betrays would do as a sideboard tech against the Abzan Company deck
Which is that blue Land, that the eldrazi Player has? The one that looks really old, at26:11 for example where He uses it (not the Temple)
Adarkar Wastes, from Ice Age.
Ahhh thanks, it looks different from the one i have Seen :)
I like your videos, and love the game, but why did you make it so that this one ONLY plays in 1080p HD? I can't watch it because it takes too much data!
It isn't like that for me
did ralph have an infiinite life combo and infinite damage combo with murderous redcap?
+Antonio Hernandez
how did he do that
you should be at the top
anyone know what ultra pro calls that color sleeve the eldrazi player is using?
+Exisiance looks like the lavender ultra pro matte front sleeves.
link to evans sleeves pls
how do you run UW eldrazi when theres only 1 white eldrazi?
+Azninja white and blue spells with eldrazi base

+Bruno Alexandre idk, I rewatched it and it seemed like he did it right, not 3,1,2,4, he just scryed from the bottom, not from the top.
+Bruno Alexandre You are right man! the correct is 3, 4, 5 ... 1, 2. and he doesn't know what is 4, 5, 6 etc. It is not a tutor, so you have to follow the rules

really, you uploaded the finals first? thats kinda spoilerific.

Ugin eye in modern ???

Why doesn't evan flicker the bird in untap so ralph doesn't have the mana for the redcap?
+Walt Park in UNTAP? players don't get priority in untap..
Whatever. before main phase, so it always has sickness so he cant cast the redcap.

can someone explain how the abzan player gained 99+ life
visara seer sacs finks, finks comes back gains 2 life, but melira doesn't allow finks to have -1/-1 counters so he can do it infinitely.
that's an insane combo! so the only way you can win is by milling him out?! right?
SHuffle shuffle..... And I shuffle shuffle... Play land Shuffle shuffle.
Good to see Eldrazi go down, but it's too bad it had to be against 2 infinite combos...
Combo is part of the game, that comment was cancer.
+Manuel Fernández People who equate comments to cancer shouldn't bother with the former.
Infinite combo with little to no interaction is something that WotC fights tooth-and-nail to avoid. Remember Splinter Twin? This is its cousin.
+PalPlays I was ecstatic when Splinter Twin got the ban hammer.

Commentary is nearly inaudible.
99+ ! LOL
BassB23 yes, I found funny the counter written 99+ haha
plz stop the eldrazi madness
What is this, a Geek convention?
So Buchholz pitched that first game huh? missed opportunity
+chawan92 He would have died on the back swing.
Andrewmeda Galaxy I'm talking about how he could have tutored for an Eldrazi Skyspawner and had enough tokens to sacrifice to drowner and tap his opponent's board and swing lethal
chawan92 Yeah, he could have. Didn't even see that myself.
+chawan92 he was missing a land, his strand was turned off, he had his fetchables in play
+Ethan Rubin wow nice eye! thanks
Now that Eldrazis can be defeated, it just proves that most Magic players are idiots that just loves to complain because all they do is netdeck.

Can wizards really stop getting women to commentate and force magic on them. Maybe girls just don't want to play magic?
